Every year there's a couple of even high profile players that go down in training camp or pre-season.  Such a bummer, as it can break an entire career.
2010-11 Gnu Danny Kass C2BTX, 2011-12 Union Atlas, 2012-13 Salomon Synapse & a 12-13 Thrive Renegade for kicks

I'm really liking what I'm seeing from Sammy Watkins. Hopefully he's the offensive weapon we've been searching for that can turn this team around

Now James is out with a dislocated elbow. Smh. Niners back field getting thin.

Do they?  I read that LaMichael James is going to be limited to kick returns, since he can't make it through or around a line without going down.  Who's their number 2?

With both Kendall  Hunter and LaMichael James down..they're really thin...I think James was supposed to be their #2.

I think just this year. They went to San Antonio or Austin for a while. I think they can work more in Oxnard because it's not as hot as Texas. Probably less injuries too.

Now Crabtree is nursing a hamstring. Niners depth getting tested early.

The list is getting longer. Now Dorsey might miss the whole season. Niners need to watch that waiver wire really close.

Is Dalton really worth that kind of money? He is aided with seriously good offensive talent...but finding a serviceable quarterback in the NFL is hard so there you go.

^ That is a huge contract for what I consider a 2nd tier QB but as shwazy pointed out getting a serviceable QB is difficult, there are only so many out there.  And the ginger QB from TCU benefits from the lack of quality QBs in the NFL.

Yeah I hear that it seems like a big overpay. The problem for them is no one lets a really good QB go so what do they do when they have such a talented roster and our built to win now.  He is benefiting from the timing of everything in a big way imo.

So here think Bradford may have a break out year? And I do not mean elite quarterback level like Manning or Rogers or anything like that, but establishing himself as a solid quarterback that any team would like to have?

I get so excited about preseason and then see that I am learning very little about what this season looks like. I almost would prefer if they held these games in secret

Yeah hard to glean much when 12 of your 22 projected starters do not play...the next game will give a little more of idea...but yeah you learn very little from preseason.

It's pretty much the 3rd preseason game that the starters play the most. The 4th game is for players trying to make the practice squad.

^ If I recall correctly several draft "experts" said he was the most NFL-ready QB in the draft.

He threaded the needle nicely on a rollout, on the run 20 yard pass to Mike Brown.  He had another nice pass play where he went through his receivers, looked off defenders and hit a receiver that had a few steps on a defender.  Overall it was a solid performance.

Shouldn't we create new thread for the 2014/2015 season?

On other news, the Arena Football League is starting a league in China...

Not the best way for Johnny Football to debut in the NFL, struggling in your first game (against Washington's D) and then flipping the opposing team cuz he can't handle the trash talking. I predict he'll be driving a cab in 3 years.

Jerry Jones must be breathing a sigh of relief that his staff stopped him from drafting Manziel LOL

^ Maybe but everything I read says Jones wanted Johnny Football.  I'm sure a season or two holding the clipboard and watching Romo choke away games would have greatly benefited Manziel's development into an NFL-caliber QB.

Idk, based on that performance, it was very romo-esque. Hopefully this is a learning lesson for him to get better prepared and put in the time or he'll quickly become the next tebow.

It was his second NFL game.. Of course he is going to take it as a learning lesson and get better. Confused

Niners cut practice short cuz of poor field conditions in their "new" stadium. Too bad cuz I think they need the practice. Haven't won a game since last year. I know it's preseason but game 3 it's usually when the starters get the most playing time. A win would be nice.

They finished practice on their regular practice fields outside the stadium. Preseason means jack shit.

^ agreed there is nothing to glean from preseason...maybe a little if your team sucked last year and you are really young and looking for some progress here or there...in general the games are meaningless...especially for good teams like the niners.

More arrests have been happening and you would think they would want to make all that money in the upcoming season that they have been training for all summer. Nines taking steps backwards
