I have no idea what's going on over there but apparently a customer said there were multiple bombs going off at a marathon.  That's crazy!

what is super frustrating for me is that I'm currently watching ESPN "live breaking news and interviews" stating 2 dead, 86 injured. But police do not have any leads or suspects. They're getting everyone's statement who is in the hospital now and repeatedly said they are not holding any suspects yet.

BUT, NY post claims a Saudi Arabian national suspect w/ 12 ppl dead and 50 ppl injured, so I have no idea who to listen to/believe

Too early to say what the motive might be. Luckily the explosions weren't massive. More powerful bombs could have killed a lot more people. That's such a crowded area during the marathon.

Such a tragic event, my thoughts go out to the victim's families.

Summary of my thoughts on coverage, and its audience, for the Boston marathon incident, and other comparable high-alert events in America:

As of 5:45 pm central time CBS said 2 dead and around 60 wounded.  It is scary to see random violence like this.

That makes my point even more. All these different tv stations stating different things, how is the common person suppose to know who is reporting the correct information?

Prayers go out to the people affected by this cowardly act.

Senior White House officials said they believe this is an act of terrorism.  If smaller attacks (smaller compared to the twin towers) are the new face of terrorism we have a lot to worry about.  The govt needs to forget the sequesters, beef up the military (some Marine friends are feeling the cuts right now) and beef up intelligence.

Foxnews.com has some pretty graphic photos from the bombing.

This is insane. All we watch was this for my brother in law birthday party. It is sad to have evil people like this. One of my brother in law said...explosive are so much easier to acquire or make rather than buying a gun. This is so true.

Dang, multiple smaller attacks would just be terrible. Makes me not want to do anything anymore. So scary! My prayers are for those affect by this.

im pretty sure this was not done by any well known terrorist group and is very likely to be homegrown. there is too much lack of planning and execution to be the work of trained groups.

The thing is we cannot stop doing what we are doing.  We cannot stop attending sporting events, concerts, or any large public gathering.  We have to go to work, send our kids to school, do the every day things we always do, however we need to be vigilant and report suspicious activity.  The country changed significantly after 9/11 and we cannot let our guard down.  As a country we took our safety for granted prior to 9/11 and since 9/11 we should never take our safety for granted again, we cannot be lulled into a false sense of security.  Terrorists fight unconventionally, they attack the innocent in the name of their cause.  Because of this we must always be on guard.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the people affected by this event and to the police, EMS, firefighters, medical personnel and volunteers who rushed into the chaos and helped the wounded.

What is really crazy is it seems like all these "attacks" are getting more frequent, there is either a mass shooting, mass stabbing, or something else on a monthly basis it seems like.  Then not sure if other states are having these, but in Michigan we are having situations where we get these random shooters who got out and shoot people driving down the expressway or what not.  What a scary world we are living in.

It's frankly nothing new. Look at the bombings of the 60's and 70's. Sadly these types of acts have been around for decades, and I'm sure will continue to be.

Yea, I agree. A terrorist attack would have been on a bigger scale.
This is probably work of some crazy idiot who had nothing better to do.....

^ I disagree, terrorist attacks are not always on a large scale.  One of the goals is to instill fear and more frequent smaller attacks across various cities can create more fear than 1 large scale attack every 10 years.

Lack of planning?  Until all video footage is reviewed all we have to go on right now is 2 bombs were planted about 100 yards apart without anyone detecting them.  The bombs were detonated almost simultaneously according to several reports.  There had to be some planning involved.  Maybe not on the Twin Towers scale but this attack had to be planned.

^Very true. Attacks don't need to be big. Guerilla warfare tactics are usually based on a multiple of small attacks and this was the case based on the two explosives that detonated and I believe they found a third that was control detonated.

Also, everything is usually planned. I find it hard to believe that there is some lunatic walking around with a few bombs in backpacks just setting them off on a whim.

Last I heard was 3 dead and 140 injured. 2 bombs were set off and 5 more were found undetonated & disarmed. That's just scary that there were more. Supposedly they have a Saudi Arabian national on a visa as a suspect. My guess is he got hurt during the explosion and couldn't detonate the rest of the bombs cuz he had to go to the hospital

Stop reading the NY Post.  It's a sensationalistic rag that will do anything to sell newspapers.

There were no additional bombs found and the information on the Saudi person being a "person of interest" is vague at best.

And I suppose that you're getting these facts from some other source of media like... oh idk cnn? Who are you to say that there's no additional bombs found when clearly every source of media has confirmation to say otherwise?

^ Agree, the NY Post publishes stories with shreds of fact woven throughout.  It's a cross between a real newspaper, People Magazine and the National Enquirer.

Nope, I don't watch CNN.  I'll take the governer's word though.

“It’s important to clarify that two and only two explosive devices were found yesterday,” Gov. Deval Patrick said. “Other parcels, all other parcels in the area of the blast have been examined, but there are no unexploded bombs. There were no unexploded devices found.”

Some people act without thinking and stop and help, others check their wristwatch and keep running, and most run out of fear or inability to help.

I have to agree that this was planned, and could be terrorists. The timing of the bombs was to hurt as many as possible. They went off after the Red Sox game when the fans would have flocked over to the area. They were placed near the finishline where people would be gathered to watch their frends and family finish the race, then go and celebrate with them. The most people...at the happiest moment. Dead

Latest reports (from a couple of news sources) say the bombs were made in pressure cookers which were attached to a wooden board with a bottle filled with nails, ball bearings and BBs.

I would expect the people of LA to do that after winning a championship game but looting the marathon jackets during this tragic event is really sad.I know people are in a state of shock and disoriented from the bombings but still not a excuse to break the law.I would understand If they were taking the jackets to help the injured in some way or using them as a tourniquet to stop heavy bleeding on the victims but no they're just taking advantage of the situation.Stay classy Boston

its finding the median of right amount of security vs freedom. I mean the major ironic thing is in iran, 10-20 die daily due to bombing and we just wave it off. now we die 3+ injury we all go crazy

Two bombs went off with approx 19 seconds between them. The bombs were laced with sharpenels such as steel ball bearings, therefore it can be assumed that the bombing was intentional and purpose was to injure as many people as possible (obviously)
They had a suspect being questioned at one of the hospitals but not sure what happened afterwards. They had one man arrested 1 mile from the marathon finish line, but no evidence I think so either he is still detained or has been released.
They are looking for a darker skinned or black man with a black packpack.
The pakistani taliban has denied everything to do with the Boston explosions.
The security at London and Madrid marathon that will be happening this weekend (?) is being reviewed and many runners are undecided in regards to participating in the New York marathon which will be held later in the year.
Bostonians are offering many marathon runners beds and showers.
Some injured people had to be amputated Cry

Saw some videos, blood everywhere and people standing in pools of blood trying to help the injured.
Condolences go out to the families of the perished, the critically injured and others traumatised by the bombings. No one especially children should have to go through something like this

Yeah I read about this too! It's so crazy how we are so immune to the deaths that occur in Iran/out of our country. I mean, I get it..it seems so far from us, whereas Boston is right next door and it can happen to any of us.

So...we still have no real leads on the bomber?

yeah but people is people, shouldnt matter if it was close or not, should have same effect.

NO real leads, they did say they had 2 suspect, but no follow up hence safe to assume it was fake?

new speculations is emerging about a photo taken during the marathon of a man being on a roof top during one of the explosions.Since the investigation is still on going, everyone seems to pointing fingers at anything they see, even it could just be a authorize maintenance worker or a spectator trying to get a better view, let the conspiracy theories begin.

but I am sure many people were on roof tops to view that race. I sure would like to see it from on top of a tall building.

I don't remember where I saw the unexploded bombs found but I think it was espn. Anyways, I just searched online and apparently everyone says there was no unexploded bombs found. That being said, everyone's statements who were there and claim they think they know who did it is all speculative until a full investigation is put into place. Other than that, start guessing

This has really hit home for me, I've done a few triathlons with my wife and son waiting for me at the finish line. Running through the finish line with them cheering me on is one of the most vivid memorable moments of my life. I can't imagine the devastation the families are feeling from the lost and injured ones. God Bless everyone involved.

it's either by one person like far say a una bomber or a disgruntled city employee who was screwed by the system & wanted some kind of revenge, by the size of reaction of the explosion my guess this looks like a amatuer planned attack by a individual, with a group this might of been a worse outcome because what if this had taken place at the starting line where there would've of been hundreds of more innocent people at risk especially close into a small tight area.who knows we're all hoping someone might of seen something out of the ordinary that will lead the feds capturing the scumbag who's responsible for it.My thoughts & prayers are out to the victims & families effected by this.

Yep, I'm waiting for all the conspiracy theorist to sit on this for a while. I'm interested to see what people think is going on. I just think it's so crazy that they have no real leads.

Has anyone claimed the bombings yet? I heard due to the primitive nature of the bombs and lack of organisations claiming responsibility the authorities think the bomber is home grown
