Man the West is brutal...Kings are 10-6 and if the playoffs started today they would be on the outside looking in. Makes for a great regular season as every game is crucial.

Avs off to their best 15 game start, 13-2.  This with Giguere (5-0) in net while Varlamov deals with the law for his drunken violent episodes.

In other news Edmonton shows how desperate they are by signing Bryzgalov.

Last in the west. Why not? Nothing else to lose.

Leafs just can't get past the bruins. Maybe the playoff meltdown is still haunting them a bit.

Damn, Avs lose their first road game of the season 2-1 against the Hurricanes.  Carolina goalie Justin Peters (who dafuq is that?) stopped 33 shots.

awesome 3 goal comeback by Kings last night. Three three young kids: Taffoli, Pearson, and Vey look good...tough calls to be made when injured guys get healthy.

It's a little early to sound that alarm, it's a long season and every team will experience a beat-down sooner or later.  Varlamov needs to settle his legal affairs and return to being the starting goalie.  Giguere did well for 5 games but looked old and slow last night.

It is a long season but the west is so stacked that a few bad games could hurt a teams position going into playoffs. In regards to last nights loss, just a minor setback but a few more like that and I'd be worried.

another strong performance by the Kings on the road.  Dwight King already has his career high in goals...that is big as they need production from him.

Avs lose 3 straight and they get bumped down to 8th. It was bound to happen. They've been playing a bit above their head this season.

Nice payback game as Kings rout Lightning last night.  Again the three kids add strength to the team.  Kopitar playing at really high level, such a complete player.

Avs and Coyotes tonight.  Avs righted the ship with a 5-1 win over the Stanley Cup Champion Blackhawks on Tuesday, strong effort by Varlamov.

Here we go... third-degree assault charges filed against Varlamov.  Damn it, just as the Avs get back on track with a couple wins after 3 consecutive losses.

Kings completely dominated the Devils and lose in OT, brutal when your team so thoroughly dominates a team and doesn't get the two points.

Big game Kings and Avs tonight.  Will be fun to see this Avs team for the first time this year.

Flyers are on a roll lately. 7 wins over their last 10.

Leafs sneak 2 points in the shootout. Got luck on their side.

Only 2 games today... Detroit beat Buffalo 3-1 and Carolina neat Ottawa 4-1.

Great Avs game last night at Varlamov shut out the Kings, 1-0.  Jamie McGinn scored in OT for the win.

Kings points in 11 straight games but too many overtime losses lately...still impressed with their performance since Quick went down...have been playing solid hockey other than power play.

ummmm, yeah, Avs lose 8-2 against the Oilers.  Varlamov must be thinking about his legal problems... surprised Roy left him in there for all 8 goals.

Hawks losing 3 straight. Only positive thing out of this loss was the point. The Ducks seem to have our number though.

^^ Yeah, I'm looking forward to the stadium series game with Hawks and Pit at Soldier Field. Would be a hell of an experience to attend it, but the tickets are ridiculously priced and it will most likely be freezing ballz out. So I think I'll be fine watching it in warmth.

^ Is the NHL over-doing the outdoor games?  How many are there this season, 6?  Too many and it will lead to the events becoming a non-big deal.  Don't over-saturate a good thing.

I don't think they're over doing it. I'm pretty sure majority of the fans aren't complaining either.

Agreed. It is a money making thing - that's a given with the NHL but in places like Vancouver where pretty much never gets cold enough for any kind of pond hockey/outdoor hockey, the chance for the city to experience it, is a great thing. I'm all for it and I know it's going to be a great day in the city! 100,000 watching toronto and detroit too!? That's gonna be so rad.

Kings have registered points in 15 of last 16 games and still are not in 1st place...the west in both NBA and NHL is so dominant.
