I love any kind of backcountry.  I climbed a lot of 14ers last winter and rode down.  It's a lot of work but you can't get that kind of feeling at a resort.

>> So to throw a wrench at the OP... he did say your absolute favorite... so I guess I can have multiple absolutes?? :)

/ I have a soft spot for Discovery outside of Anaconda MT.  It's where I learned to snowboard in college with my best friends.  can't beat that!

// Schwitzer, ID and Kicking Horse, BC were real sweet destinations too.

Somehow lightning saying he likes the backside after a massive dump doesn't surprise me at all.

My favorites are Breckenridge and Keystone.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned any of the Utah resorts...they always advertise that they have the best snow on earth...

anywhere that's steep, has some good off-piste terrain (boulders, wide spaced trees), 2-3 feet of fresh over a deep base and a lift...basically any of the west coast resorts (except L.A.)

Sierra@Tahoe Baby!

I've only ridden in NorCal such as; Northstar, Heavenly, Boreal, Sugar Bowl, Kirkwood, Homewood, Squaw Valley, Bear Valley, Alpine Meadows, and a few others but I still find Sierra as my home.

Yeah, Kirkwood is exactly what their motto says....rare earth.  I'm still dreaming of a mid-week 3 foot fesh day from last season.  Top 5 days all time.  The effort to get there is well worth the fun rides.

Mt. Bachelor in Oregon. Day time snowboarding is the best. My favorite by far. I like Skibowl on Mt. Hood for night ski.

BC Canada about 5 years ago was the best 2 weeks of snowboarding of my life.  phenomenal terrain, amazing scenery, nice and deep, also steep where you needed it, and just an overall amazing experience.  unfortunately for financial reasons, i haven't been able to make it back since and even looks like i may go a second straight year without seeing any snow :(

If i ever get the money i will definitely do it again, or take a short little plane ride a few miles north to alaska.  A very big IF.

On the East I like Killington, VT . Spent there NY's 2013 weekend. We got there Right During a snow storm. Had amazing time. Going this year too. :)

Okemo is not bad either.

You need to travel more.

I don't think I would ever travel to the east coast to board, I think I will go no farther than Jackson Hole and stay on the west coast for snow.  Plus the flight or drive wouldn't be too bad.

I don't think anyone would travel to the east coast to snowboard! It's not cheap, either. That said, we make the best of what we have and can handle hardpack and icy patches and still have fun.

Aspen/Snowmass.

Beautiful mountains, wonderful towns, great food.

---

Killington in VT is good, but that icy stuff is terrible. Hurts so much.

I spend a month each in year in Whistler.  The 28 hours of travel each way is worth it.  Can't get bored with the terrain, great village and outstanding food scene.

Ditto, the set up of Whistler is excellent.  You can easily walk from the slopes to the village for some fun.  I love crossing the light up bridge at night, it's so pretty.
