    Posted: Dec/28/2013 at 4:50pm
Hey guys, I'm fairly new to the snowboard world. I can ride, but I'm new to maintenance with my board.

My bindings will only tighten until it touches my boot, then it just strips. It will hold but it won't get tight. I don't have money to buy new bindings but I'm going boarding in a couple weeks. Is there a way to fix this or buy parts to replace the strap? I have Solomon Relay Pro bindings.

If you contact the company they could definently provide with the parts or information to fix your problem, you can replace the straps or ratchets, but if they stripped out that quick I would definently recommend looking at a different pair of bindings, I know you said you don't have the money to buy new ones, but if you don't have a pair of working bindings you can't ride at all! I don't know what your budget would be but I have the burton custom bindings (93$) and I absolutely love them, with no problems at all! Hope this helps!:)

you could try contacting the CO to see if they will warranty it they may or may not either way I would also take it to a local shop if you have one that does repairs most places that do rentals would also be able to tell you which parts you need to replace and may be able to sell them to you.

thundersnap he never said how old his bindings are, just that he needed them in a few weeks.

down grade from a salomon relay pro to a burton custom. classic.

to op, i can't get the picture of what you described, post a video of what happen or at least a picture of what's going on. because if ratchet goes bad, it won't hold the ladder strap at all. unless you had over-tighten the crap out of it and stripped the ladder strap before. either way, no picture, no idea.
hmmm... Now What???

Can you adjust the adjust the strap mounting on the other end so that it can close tighter? There are different holes on the end that does not have the ratchet mechanism. If you have a snowboard shop nearby I'm sure they would help you out.

Sounds like your ratchet is fine but the strap is slipping, correct?
If so, adjust the position of the straps so the ratchet clicks on to the part that's not strip.

You can try going to your local shop, and they might hook you up with a spare strap or get a new strap.

Or I'll sell you my Salomon Relays.
If you're interested, go click HERE to see.

Sounds like a stripped ladder to me, but like batleon said, we'll need some photos. ladders are usually pretty cheap and plentiful if that's the case.

for a quick fix, you may indeed be able to adjust the angles of your heel straps to get some good teeth on there.

It's this.  Many ladder straps (e.g., Burton) have an extra ridge near the bottom that will not allow the ratchet to go any further, and it feels like it's "slipping" in my experience.  OP just shorten it up a hole or two and you'll be able to crank it down until your foot falls asleep.  Cheers!

are the teeth on the strap actually stripped? or have you ran out of teeth altogether? most bindings were have adjustments where you can move up/down the strap side with the buckle so that it's shorter. while the strap is shorter, you will have more room to utilize the teeth on the other strap
