    Posted: Dec/29/2013 at 6:53pm
I'm heading to Tahoe this New Year's day and the following weekend.

I wanted to get an idea of what the conditions are like right now?

We have a car, so driving around isn't an issue. We'll probably be up in Truckee, so right now the resorts in the North part of the lake is best.

Any advice?

Thanks!

There really isn't much snow right now.

I went on Christmas day, and it was pretty firm with a light dusting on top from the snow machines.  Its up in the high 40s during the day, so it could possibly get slushy, though it didn't seem to when I was there.

Really though, go to Northstar.  I can't really speak for the other resorts, but Northstar makes a lot of snow (though not nearly as much as they did in past seasons) and probably have much more open trails than the other north lake resorts.

Conditions are like spring condition.
Northstar is probably the best on that side. Boreal if you only wanna ride park. Squaw was very limited, with this condition, is still probably very limited. Is firm and gets icy fast. Get on the slopes early and leave early.
Is really not worth it right now.

Haha, "bony" and "sharky" come to mind.  It's pretty sad up here right now . . . .  My sources tell me that the "best" current conditions are at Squaw.

i like the positive response.  hopefully tahoe improves drastically.  We were lucky to get a storm in here that made for a great New Years.

@angry show a little respect now, shrad is likely the best or one of the best riders on the forum.

Tahoe was pretty shitty, i was at Squaw the 30/31st and the resort was less than half open, the parts that were open were very icy by 1-2PM. I seriously hope Tahoe gets some good storms soon.
