    Posted: Mar/13/2014 at 12:01pm
Hey everyone,

I havent ridden in a couple years but wanted to pick up a board and get back into things since it's the end of the season and boards are 30% off.

I went into the Burton store here in Chicago and spent a considerable amount of time talking to an employee. He basically recommended either the Nug flying v, or the process flying v for my body type and riding (150ish lbs, 5'9". I'd say I'm an intermediate rider, and do some park riding hitting jumps as well as just racing buddies down the hill.

I'm very skeptical about the Nug, as it's 10cm smaller and seems way to weird. From what I've read, most people are skeptical but absolutely love the Nug. The employee wouldn't stop raving about it either. I wish I could just test ride the two different boards!

Any opinions or recommendations?

I asked the burton store employee if they do 40% eventually and he said "rarely does he see it" but that could have been to get me to buy sooner rather than later. Ill definitely check out dogfunk though as well.

Still though, any thoughts on the boards themselves? I'm really torn.

I doubt the Burton store will offer a good deal on either board.  Many online ships have the Process Flying V for around $300 and the Nug for under $300, how much are you looking to spend?

Not really haha, I'm only interested in retail!

I'd suggest the process if you're just getting back into it. Bit more of a "normal" feel. Nice and soft, will still hold at speed.

Should be able to find much better than 30% off over there, I scored a process fv for a friend in Aus for $329 shipped at xmas.

The burton store had both the flying v and nug for $298 (regular $420, so 30% off). I'm fully expecting to spend around $700 with boots and bindings. I would love to get 40% off, however I think the nug flying v is restricted so may be more difficult to get at a bigger discount.

I haven't decided on the nug yet, I'm skeptical of the 10cm shorter design riding like a board thats 10cm longer (146 riding like a 156) with the benefits of a short board. I was hoping maybe some of you had experience with it or knew more about it. The few reviews I've read are mostly positive.
