what do you mean he can't gave that call, he the ref. and that was the third times happened in the box, dive or not, still a contact no matter how you slice it. the only one to blame is the mexico coach that push everyone into defend mode right after half-time. i have never see a team can win a game by sitting duck with just one goal on hand with 45mins left, ever. let alone you facing a full attack team like Netherlands. silly move on the coach no matter how you see it.
hmmm... Now What???

Agreed, but having admitted to diving earlier in the game, he deserves (but won't receive) a lengthy suspension.  "Simulation" is the biggest blight on the game (a far bigger problem than biting Uruguayans).

I wouldn't call it a blight.  You see it in other sports.  Basketball players exaggerate fouls all the time. Hockey players go down and it called for diving.  As a fan you do not like it and the more leagues can eradicate it the better.  But this is not isolated to soccer imo.

Altidore seen warming up with the US Team today.  Man, that would be nice to get another offensive weapon on the field tomorrow!

don't put your hope too high on altidore after the injury. he might be able to get back on training, but how long he can stay in the game is a big question.

^^ Hopefully long enough to score a goal! :)

Something that's kind of fun about listening to the games on espn radio is hearing the crowd songs and chants in the background... during this Germany Algeria game there is some serious chanting that, i kid you not, sounds like the Harry Potter theme...

Altidore is a sub at best. Even then it would be tough to put him in. You might be better off bringing in one of the kids and not worrying about Altidore hurting it again and having to be subbed off.

FIFA should take vengence on Robben for admitting diving! The rules allow them to, I doubt it will happen however...

Can't see you guys getting past Belgium, but we'll see. Should be a good game regardless.

Should be a good game, I think the USA are a reasonable chance...I'll probably get up to watch the second half (this world cup is in a terrible time zone for us Australians)

The amount of flopping is one of the main reasons i don't like to watch soccer. At least the NBA started penalizing players for flops. FIFA should really look into some kind of punishment for dives that involve very little or no contact because I think they really take away from the integrity game.

Obviously you guys know more about the game than me.  Altidore is indeed a sub.  I forgot how precious those 3 substitutions really are.

btw, that's crazy how you only get to sub out 3 guys total.  would more subs = more scoring??

Very good game in the end...the USA looked to be the far better team towards the end of extra time.

Heroic performance by Howard.

Crazy finish, so close to 2-2 with that training ground set piece..... Better first touch and he would have been able to get a shot away in time. Big effort though boys.

What I love about Messi is he won't dive... what I respect about Argentina is they follow his example. (for the most part)  I really hope he can win it all for his country.

Most of the games these days are such nailbiters, it's been a great world cup!

Such a close game for US. We could have won that. sad sad.
On the other hand if not for Howard, the score would have probably been 5-0.

US had some good chances to tie at the end. It woulda been nice to see it go to penalty kicks.
Brazil vs Ned in the finals would be a good game to watch.

Howard really saved them from a humiliation. Surprised even the rednecks on the cruise got into it. Though I am relieved of not having to listen to "Murica" anymore.

I think he would have been an upgrade over Wondo and Aaron but water under the bridge...already looking forward to the next cup.

Columbia has such a tough challenge playing Brazil at this stage...they have been the better team so far but Brazil at home is so tough...should be a great game.
