well lately i've been listening to the album "Live in Hyde Park" by the red hot chili peppers,

i wish i would have been there for the concert. it would have been amazing

anyways, i was just wondering what concert u guys have been to and what was you favorite

also, what is the biggest concert venue in the world?

cause i know Slane Castle in Ireland has an amphitheater than can hold 100,000

and it looks massive

^^^this pic was taken during a red hot chili peppers concert at slane castle in 03

absolutely mass amount of people. its amazing

also, Hyde park in London can hold mass amounts of people too. for instance, in 1976 150,000 people went to see queen perform there

so those at the two biggest i have com across

anymore massive concert venues out there?

Best band I've ever seen live is The Arcade Fire.  The bands I would most like to see that could still perform (i.e. most the important members are still alive):
- U2
- Relient K
- Kiss (not a huge fan but they seem like they'd put on a great show)
- Red Hot Chili Peppers
- Creedence Clearwater Revival
- Coldplay

Also in the way back machine for still living bands, the Cure sometime in the early-80s and the Rolling Stones before they were walking caricatures of themselves.

I still think any live DMB show is where its at. Fenway last year was pretty sweet. I enjoy just going to concerts. Having 100,000+ people would be way to much. Yeah this summer I plan on seeing the following:
Dave Matthews Band
Of a Revolution
311/ Matisyahu
Download Festival (Us version)
Earth Fest (who doesnt love a free concert)
G. Love and Special Sauce con Slightly Stoopid. Too much money!

Can't say I'm a huge fan of either bands, but the Gorge is the place to see ANY show.  I've been to my share of shows there.  That is by far the best venue that I've seen shows at.  But I've got to say, Flogging Molly has been one of the funnest, most interactive bands that I've seen....... all 5 times now LOL  The Madd Caddies put on a great live show too!

That Ireland picture is impressive, but I am not sure if I would even want to go. I couldn't even see the band, let alone my lack of taste of Red Hot.Big%20smile

The biggest concert I have been to was the Kenny Chesney concert in Neyland Stadium a few summers ago. There were probably 70-80,000 people there.  I was so drunk by the end of the concert I fell down 15 rows of bleachers and then had to run from the cops so they didnt arrest me for Public Intox.  I was mad bruised up and sore the next morning.

I don't know. I sort of like smaller crowds and begin able to easily get up to the front.

But it would be interesting to be part of a crowd that huge. I can only imagine the B.O.

Kenny Chesney?  Blasted Tennessee hick.  You'll see the error of your ways when the mighty Bears put your state back in its place.

Big ups for escaping from the po though lol.

Bullshit, you cannot judge him by the state that he lives in.  That's ridiculous.  I'm sure that he could come up with alot of shit to blast you with, being from California and all.  Please drop it.

All in jest, friends.  Kind of funny that Bruizza seemed to take it less personally that some others lol.

Hail to the German pop star.  I swear David Hasselhoff has the most bizarre career arc.

Dierks Bentley and Rascal Flatts are pretty good from what my friends tell me. I'll have to see them one day. I want to see U2 and Iron Maiden, I missed both of them when they came through in respective tours.

So far I've been to a few major concerts/events recently. Warped Tour in 05, Ozzfest in 06, Green Day in 05 at Pacbell (or AT&T whatever haha) and then to AFI twice in no less than 4 months last year.

Highlights are going to Green Day and getting crushed between a bunch of dudes and chicks in the pit, while Billy Joe snarls and spits on me, and losing my voice. System of a Down at Ozzfest, and losing my voice while sing each and every song. Meeting Between the Buried and Me at Ozzfest. Watching Offspring at Warped and again losing my voice. Afi at SF and then Davis, losing my voice because I kept screaming for them to play Lost Souls.

Of course discovering great new bands at Warped and Ozzfest is always great too.

I went to a Chili Peppers concert about a month ago and Kiedis was half dead with pneumonia so it wasn't energy amplified. I think it would have been really sweet to go to the concert that blink 182 did for the "mark tom and travis album" some of the funniest shit is on that album.

I have always wanted to see Dave Mathews, Chili Peppers or Gwen Steffani in concert.  The last concert I saw was at a small venue in Humboldt County when Sublime was alive and kickin'  Yes, Sublime, when the lead singer, Bradley was alive.  That was the best and last concert I've been to.  It must have been either '96 or '97.  Ten years ago? OH MY... I'm due for a good concert.

Best concert I've been to was Tegan & Sara in NYC at Webster Hall.  They put on a dope show and the environment and sound system that day was sick.

Second best was when Bloc Party played at the same venue... second time seeing them, except this time around I enjoyed them way more than I did the first time.

Beck at Hammerstien Ballroom was pretty awesome.
Foo Fighters in Reno was pretty good too.
Beck again at the Grand Sierra in Reno was probably one of the best though. Super small venue. Even in the back it felt like you were sittin right in front of the band. Really cool.

Craziest was prolly Pink Floyd at Soldier's Field in Chicago. Just, nuts.

It was awesome.  It was right before they blew up in the US (just released "Absolution").  The local alternative station (105.7) brought them in and had them play.  Tickets were $1.05.

I'll try to scan my ticket...give me a minute...

neil young in spokane, october of 07.  one of the best days of my life.  i have been listening to neil literally since the day i was born, and he has always been my favorite.  much much much more than just the music behind my love for him.  pretty good seats too considering it was a real concert with lots of people.  he played tons of his classics and older songs that i loooooooooove.  he played a few of my favorites even, like ambulance blues, in classic neil style.. solo on stage with a spotlight, with his half-circle of guitars surrounding him.

john prine last fall.. he came here.  ive also been listening to him my whole life and hes one of my favorites, so it was rad that he came.  we basically never get anyone known here. our seats were front and center and it was rad.

the james cotton blues band came.. uhh.. might have been january this year? that was rad.  i love the blues, and they were absolutely amazing.  he played with muddy waters for a long time.. one of the most famous blues harp musicians ever.

the holmes brothers a few years ago when they came here.. not quite as well known, but theyre definitely up there in the blues/jazz/etc world.  really amazing live... great music.  i dont really like listening to their albums though, its pretty different.  my dad got free tickets to that because hes friends with the guy who organized it, and my dad took them out on his boat while they were here.  sunny day, catching prawns, crab, and salmon, and they couldnt get enough of the seafood, fresh from the alaskan ocean.  they all smoked pot together too, hahaha.  my dad and three old black dudes from the south on a boat.  amazing.

My favorite concert was a Gogol Bordello concert at Hamilton College in New York.  We had just started listening to the band and were really into them, so we drove up to this little town in NY and got a motel room and partied before the show.  By the time we left for the show, it was snowing really hard and because of that not many people showed up.  The show was empty and we got to meet the band and hang out with them.  They put on a great show and we got alot of great stories out of it.

And MGMT opened for them too, this was before they got big.

I agree with that.  Each time I see Tool they seem to get better.

I have a list of a few fave shows I've been to.
1.) Godsmack/Ill Nino/Dropbox a few years ago.  Small theatre type venue.  It was just f'in amazing
2.) Dave Matthews Band 04-ish?  Great show.  Good outdoor venue and I had orchestra pit tickets.

But the BEST show I've ever been to was actually Huey Lewis and the News!!!  haha.  Really, they were awesome.  I was never a big fan but my bf always loved them as a kid so a couple of years ago I got a hook up with some free tickets in the front row.  It was fantastic and Huey is the man on the harmonica.  Chicago (what's left of Chicago) followed and they sucked.

This year I don't have any real concert plans.  Maybe the Killers in Montreal in the fall and whatever random tickets I can snag up over the summer.

Huey Lewis was the man! When Back to the Future came out I went to the library and took out all of his records and taped them! Damn, I'm old.

And MGMT opened for them too, this was before they got big.

How was MGMT live?  Couldn't really get into them save for three songs off their album.

First off, Blazed and confused tour, I will be there Zag.
Secondly, I got the biggest thrill and let down of my life yesterday. The Facebook application "iLike" told me there was a concert at the comcast center on august 3rd , with Coldplay, Pearl Jam, The Police, Two band I've never hear of and the RED HOT FREAKING CHILIPEPPERS. I nearly shat my pants, called the venue, and the girl on the phone laughed cause she got the same notification. Then she laughed, telling me it was just Coldplay, and not worth coming to.
