I'm going to see Gavin Degraw this Friday in Irvine, CA. I can't wait cuz it's been at least 6+ yrs since the last time I saw him perform when he wasn't that popular yet

I only knew of Gavin Degraw because of the OST for One Tree Hill.  LOL

Saw the Americana festival in Irvine:

My Morning Jacket
Wilco
Bob Dylan

overall a good show.  My Morning Jacket impressed...not a big fan of records but they are a talented live band for sure.

^ I saw Wilco back in the late Summer of 03.  They opened for R.E.M.  Honestly, i didn't really know who they were at the time, but they were great! They were the first and only time i've ever seen an opening act get an encore performance.  They were all jacked up to come back out on stage.  it was cool.

In other news, Cake last weekend in ZooTown went OFF! holy crap that was a fun night.  the drive home sunday was a little Dead green, but dang that was fun.  They played 5 of the 6 songs i was really hoping for too.  it was ridiculous!

And, the Offspring are this Saturday!  I've been a big Offspring guy for about 16-17 years now, and this will be the first time i get to see them.  stoked doesn't begin to describe it!

I didn't know about him back then, although I knew his songs. I only went to his concert way back when because friends asked me to go and I wasn't doing anything that day, super cheap like less than $25. I didn't know his name, but I remembered all the songs he sang. I'm the type of person that recognizes songs but not artist names

Anyone else go to Summer Slaughter tour? Just went on Sunday. Was fun seeing Revocation shred live, as well as Cattle Decapitation and Animals as Leader. Could have done without Norma Jean (constant breakdowns) and Dylan escape plan bringing the hipster crowd and their goofy ass moshing in.  I got cranked in the ribs by some bozo kicking and jumping around with his elbows out, and I wasn't even in the pit at that point.

People mosh to anything. It's not uncommon to see moshing at a metal show. Never understood what people saw in Dillinger.
Always wanted to see Periphery. How was Thy Art Is Murder?

I for one never understood the fun in moshing but then again it's probably because of my short stature.  LOL

Would love to see Cake and Offspring. Took my daughter to a Warped Tour concert this summer but was only knew one out of 70 bands (3 oh 3, don't trust a ho) and we didn't stay long enough to see it.

Thy art is murder was a snooze, sorry if youre a fan, but we left while they were on to slam the rest of our alcohol in the car so we wouldn't have to pay $8 a drink inside. Yes people mosh to dillinger... sort of.  Like I was saying it was more of that hipster crowd by that point so kids in tight jeans flailing around like drunk octopi would be more accurate.  I only mosh when its full contact, elbows in, and heavy heavy music.

Five finger was pretty good live a few weeks ago, who are they playing with in october?

I like Thy Art Is Murder, but they are very monotone. I heard an older recording of a song from the Hate album and was blown away by the sound of the recording. Very thick and very heavy, unlike anything I've heard before.

Might be seeing Reel Big Fish this Sunday and definitely Streetlight Manifesto on October 3rd. My two favorite ska bands. I caught Streetlight at Warped tour last year so I'm stoked to see them play a full show.

Went to Muse with Cage the Elephant opening for them last night. Muse kicked ass of course, the stage setup was pretty dope. Cage the Elephants lead singer is a good performer, however he needs to work on his pitch. Shit was either screeching loud or muddled beyond recognition for most of the performance.

That's like one of the worst things about live performances, I think it was probably the equipment.

Nice, I saw them a little over a week ago in DC.  It was amazing.  Cage's singer was either tripping on something, or was absolutely shitfaced during their set, but I thought he still did a pretty good job entertaining.  He had a sweet psychiatric ward dance move going all night.  I think a lot of the problem with opening acts is 1) their equipment is just not as good, and 2) he wasn't holding the mic near close enough to his mouth most of the time.  We were about 4 rows of people back from the center of the stage on the floor, right next to that little area where they stepped out onto.  My GF's dad actually caught one of the drumsticks Dominic (Muse's drummer) threw out after the encore.

I'll try and post a pic or two later once photobucket is back up.

as an ex sound guy it's not the equipment with shows that big, it's the engineers and musicians.

I saw Muse back in April for the first time. Very impressed with the show. There was a rumor that they played really loud at shows but was surprised how lacking the loudness was. Either way, def will see them again.

Ya the singer for Cage was definitely shit faced, lmao at this psychiatric dance moves. Spot on description. I'll give him an A for effort, I love when musicians stage dive into the crowd and crowd surf. However I just wish the vocals sounded good because I like there music for the most part. I'm sure it was part equipment, part being shit faced, and part engineer.

I actually like it when musicians stage dive into the crowd and they fail to support the musician.  Hilarious~  LOL

Ha yea, he crowd surfed right over us.  Was pretty gross though cause he drenched in sweat haha.  Ended up pushing us back a row or two of people, cause people ran in to snag our spots when he moved us back.

Damn Sin, killer spot in GA. I usually have to get seats due to my wife being too short to see over everyone, and she also hates being molested by randoms.

I caught the preview when I was watching another IMAX movie.  I had never heard about the metallica movie so I had no idea what it was about (and frankly I still don't) but the preview completely blew my mind.  Looks awesome

I saw the commercial for that on tv but hearing a music band mix with 3D just reminds me of Bieber and One Direction.  LOL

I was semi-interested in seeing it, but not sure if anything Metallica did after 1991 is worth seeing.

Actually it looked like all film from one bad-ass concert filmed on IMAX interspersed with some kind of super-violent monster/police-riot fantasy movie, not sure I can explain the concept but pretty intense like I said.
