This year Mamafest, in partnership with Snoqualmie Pass and K2 Snowboarding, hopes to raise over $30,000 through individual pledges, sponsorships and donations to help support the University of Washington Cancer Genetics Clinic at the Mamafest festival on March 11th at the Summit at Snoqualmie Pass West. Mamafest 2007 is expected to reach more than 4,000 people and features educational booths, snowboard and ski demos, live music by Peter Parker, BoyCrush and Macklemore, raffles, prizes, and a slope style competition.
Last year, Mamafest raised over $20,000 in the fight against breast cancer, specifically for the University of Washington Medical Genetic Clinic. [The Clinic] operates on a shoestring and [Mamafest's] help has brought it toward a bootstrap. With this we are able to provide more and more help to women and their families and to bring educational and informational programs to a wider group said Peter H. Byers, MD, Departments of Pathology and Medicine from the University of Washington.
Come Ride and Learn! Mamafest 2007 has established itself as a well respected non-profit organization in the Northwest community. Each year the volunteer staff works with local companies to sponsor fun and educational events for youth and adults to enjoy while raising funds for breast cancer research programs.
Enjoy a Great Day on the Slopes! Mamafest 2007 will feature live performances by Seattle local bands Peter Parker and BoyCrush and DJ will be providing tunes all day long. Snowboard and Ski Demo’s will be provided by K2, Ride, Burton, Arbor, Gnu, Nitro, Rossignol, Salomon and others.
