Shaun White amazed us all at the 2008 Winter X Games Superpipe Final. Things were not looking up initially for the Flying Californian Tomato. A brief brush of disappointment and an ugly Bronze metal were the result of a third place finish in the slope style competition in which Shaun White’s Burton Snowboard called it quits early. White, a fierce competitor was motivated by his bronze and developed a stronger thirst for a Gold metal. White pushed Snowboarding beyond what was thought to be humanly possible and threw down a SuperPipe run that scored a 96.66. Once again the Winter X Games will invade Buttermilk Mountain at Aspen/Snowmass. This year is shaping up to be the biggest Winter X ever. The half pipe has been freshly cut and the slope style course will be like nothing the competitors have seen to date. Three out of the four jumps on the course are bigger than the biggest jump ever at Winter X. Don’t forget to DVR the events starting Thursday.
