1/11/2010 10:00:17 AM well im no longer a snowboard injury virgin. On saturday, i fell pretty hard doing a jump.  I had azzpadz on which took the blunt of the force, but i had the wind knocked out of me but it wasn't anything I thought i couldn't walk off.So i went on another run.  This time i lost my edge coming down and sat down.  I reached over my left side and tried to lift myself up.  I heard a loud popping/tearing sound and had excruciating pain in my rib cage.  I couldn't breathe without having extreme pain.  I couldn't move.  I thought i busted a rib and the pain was crazy awful.  I had to get gearnyed down the mountain.  After x-rays at the kirkwood clinic, they told me that i didnt have any broken bones, and that i tore the muscles in between my ribcage that help me breathe.  I am now intoxicated with vicodin and thought i'd share my story haha. Long story short... stretch kiddies haha (i stretched my legs out, but not my upper body)
12/30/2009 10:35:36 AM well not exactly.. For every fill-up of at least 10 gallons at a Shell gas station between January 4, 2010 and April 16, 2010, ask for one of these vouchers and it will get you B1G1 lift tickets at many resorts. Resort list and deals at each is here: http://skifreedeals.com/resort Watch out for the fine print. Most are great and will save you a lot, but often exclude Saturdays.EDIT: Most are B1G1, but it appears there are some completely free days as well, like Wesnesday and Friday evening at SkiBowl on Mt. Hood in Oregon. It's not 100% clear, because the voucher is stated as a B1G1, but the fine print for SkiBowl makes it appear that it's completely free. YMMV. I'll probably test this out at some time in a month or two and update accordingly.
12/22/2009 10:30:02 AM So yesterday I popped my waxing cherry.  I did the typical drip technique and spread the wax all over my board.  Then i began to do the scraping, i noticed the wax didn't look very even so i reused the wax shavings on the board to refill some of the places i thought i missed.  is this okay?
12/8/2009 10:45:26 AM *updated 3/9/11* Giltgroupe is selling Oakley Goggles at 50%+.  Some cool discount deals on items that TruSnow does not carry or does not have in stock (or is more expensive). I posted this a couple of months ago about some Smith Optics goggles they were selling and some sierra members seemed to like the site, so here is another go around!   Gilt group is invite only so you have to get invited to it.. check it out here.. just trying to share the wealth.  Below is my personal invitation.  Items sell out pretty fast so you have to have trigger fingers haha.   http://www.gilt.com/invite/stephentam   Thank you for the referrals :)  I always try to share excellent deals I come across with fellow TruSnow Crew Members

10/21/2009 10:51:10 AM I thought I'd start a topic about carpooling to tahoe.  This will be a good way for all of us to sync up with more sierra members and if you have extra space in your car, and good way to get another person to split the gas fare.  The only rule to this thread is that if you do not drive, you must be willing to chip in for gas.  I'll make the spread sheet larger as more people contribute.  If you only have to fill in the applicable information.  Cheers!   Member Location Season Pass # of People in that Can Fit in Car(includes gear) Dirtydragon San Francisco Kirkwood 3 Star25 placerville  Kirkwood 1 Bitmap deepakhj   San Francisco sierra or heavenly ? 9/26/2009 3:55:41 PM Selling an almost new burton Method.  Burton's most advanced snowboard.  Now taking offers.  I will upload pictures in a little bit.   No low ball offers.  This board retails for $1,500 brand new.  Considering it has been ridden once and has very small chip in it, I'm willing to come down, so let me hear your offers!  I am hoping to sell it for atleast $900.  This board is the lightest board in the freaking world!!  I am located in San Francisco and will ship.  Paypal accepted.
9/21/2009 10:20:58 AM Anybody interested in a Ski Lease this winter in South Tahoe?  I have about 4 people interested already.  Will need about 10 to get a decent condo for the entire winter.  We are all in our late 20's early 30's.  We are all working professionals (2 in finance 2 in marketing).  There are 3 guys and 1 girl.  Drop me a message if you are interested.
9/17/2009 2:00:38 AM Im 5'10 205 lbs... i'm debating between a palmer classic 157 and a palmer burn 160.  I ride resort, cant do any tricks yet, but can hit up blacks and double blacks.. i also am mainly groom riding but want something with a good edge hold that will help improve my confidence and skill level.  I am currently riding the 09 sierra crew.  Any suggestions?  Is it worth the upgrade?
9/15/2009 11:35:03 AM Is this possible to do?  I was thinking of buying an 09 burton custom ICS and mounting my union forces to them.  I have no idea if this will work or not.. any ideas?
9/3/2009 1:10:35 PM So I've been biking a lot lately and wanted to share with all why bike shorts are black.....

8/27/2009 12:21:23 PM Woo Hoo.. I'm Attending     Palo Alto To Host National 'Cougar Convention' PALO ALTO (CBS 5 / BCN) ―     A man who made headlines running for California governor in the 2003 recall election on a "singles platform" now plans to host a national convention in Palo Alto later this month focused on bringing together young men and older women. The National Single Cougars Convention, scheduled for Aug. 28, is sponsored by Rich Gosse's Society of Single Professionals, which defines a "cougar" as a single, older woman who is confident, sophisticated and desirable - and romantically interested in younger men. Gosse ran for governor in 2003 on a "fairness for singles" platform, arguing that singles are treated like second-class citizens in California because they pay more taxes and higher insurance premiums, and don't have the same benefits as spouses. Gosse is married now but still working to improve the lives of single people, he said. Although he said his wife is slightly younger than he is, he believes an older woman is just what many young men need and vice versa. "We truly believe the best romantic relationships are where the woman is older than the man," said Gosse, who has written eight books about relationships and taught more than 60 college courses on love and dating. Many men like the idea of being with an older woman because they're more mature, and women tend to live longer than men on average, Gosse said. "Cougars" like "cubs," or young men, because they're attractive, fun and trainable, he said. He said his organization has been sponsoring "cougar" parties for about 15 years and that the parties have been so popular that about two months ago, the group decided to organize a national convention. The convention will include a keynote address by author Francesca Gentille and her romantic partner, who is 14 years younger than she is, as well as a reception, dance party and the crowning of Miss Cougar America. The title will be determined by the men in attendance, who will each vote for their favorite cougar. The winner must be at least 40 years old, legally single and present at the convention. Gosse said Silicon Valley is the perfect place for the convention because it has a surplus of single men, many of whom are well educated with good jobs but may lack experience with women because they're workaholics. He said one goal of the convention is to bring such relationships into the mainstream and try to counter a common double standard. When an older man is dating a beautiful young woman, nobody thinks twice, he said.  The public is much more likely to judge an older woman who is with a younger man. "What's good for the goose is good for the gander, and we're going to prove it at the National Cougar Convention," he said. He also hopes the convention will help popularize the idea that women over 40 are attractive. "We live in a youth-obsessed nation," Gosse said. "We think we're really combating that stereotype." The event starts at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 28 at Dinah's Garden Hotel in Palo Alto.   http://cbs5.com/local/national.cougar.convention.2.1126178.html
