9/4/2009 12:07:34 PM Have you guys seen this site? The Sparta ones are great. Love this ROFL:http://9gag.com/gag/11628/
8/25/2009 10:51:50 AM http://www.designspongeonline.com/2009/08/sacramento-guide.html One of the design blogs I follow has a bunch of city guides. They just released the Sacramento one recently so posting here for the Sierra staff and everyone else in the area.
7/27/2009 7:19:50 PM Warriors for Wokai (http://www.warriorshoes.org/) Hey riders, hope the summer has been treating you well, actually have some hope for the East Coast this season. Anyway, a year ago I was introduced to both the Warrior Shoes brand (via the 'Book of Warriors' project) and Wokai (via my cousin who was interning for them). Warrior's WB-1 started out as the Air Jordans of China in the 70s before becoming the shoe of China's working class in the late 90s. Wokai is a charity which provides microloans to the poor in China. I'm a fan of both so I decided to merge the two into a little cause-marketing project, Warriors for Wokai. Order a pair of WB-1's for yourself and ALL of the profits will be donated to Wokai. Interested? Check the site (http://www.warriorshoes.org/) and spread the word, thanks! Not a fan of the sneakers? You can still make a difference and donate to Wokai (http://www.wokai.org) directly! No hard feelings, but my WB-1s really do make me type, click and surf faster, though it hasn't gotten me around China's Great Firewall. *For the tri-state / NYC area folks, please email me at darren '@' warriorshoes.org with your order. We'll do the exchange in person (bypassing PayPal and shipping = more money donated to Wokai). I'm also in China until 8/2 so if you can get your order in before then I can bring the shoe back with me, avoiding more shipping fees.
4/7/2009 7:52:05 AM Now that I've gone with an all Burton setup I'd like to get rid of my unused Union Force bindings. Never mounted, I bought it for next year to mount on my K2 Darkstar, but things didn't work out so I have to get rid of these bindings now. LMK if you are interested. Also wouldn't mind trading for white medium men's EST bindings. Triad preferably. Obviously I'll throw in some cash to even out the trade if they are new.
4/6/2009 8:02:37 AM Hey guys, I have around six pairs of Dragon Mace goggles. Only used two of them and the last four are still brand new. I'd like to get a few of the lenses swapped out for yellow or clear lenses. All of them have some sort of ionized lense currently.
4/4/2009 4:12:42 PM  Not sure what it's suppose to represent. Is it a stylized pair of sunglasses? A stylized 'A' of some sort? Just wondering because every time I see it, it looks like 'D C'.
3/29/2009 5:02:25 PM Hey guys, for those of you who hit up both resorts, would you recommend one over the other? Leaning towards Snow Basin for tomorrow since their lifts are better. Might do Powder Mountain the day after. Thoughts?
3/18/2009 11:05:33 AM Hey guys, a little late in the season I guess but I wish I found out about it sooner. The cheapest NY insurance I found is close to $300 a month. This company provides a year of snow accident insurance for $75 but I think you have to be a member of your local National Ski Council Federation club to join. https://www.getori.com/plans/snow.aspx
3/14/2009 2:53:46 AM Pretty awesome creative. Additional info here. Didn't see it posted when I conducted a search on 'toilets'
2/23/2009 8:51:52 PM http://blogs.denverpost.com/sports/2009/02/12/new-private-pipe-for-shaun-white-silverton/ New private pipe for Shaun White @ Silverton? by Jason Blevins on February 12, 2009 So there were rumors galore during X about how Red Bull had dropped a half a mil on a private superpipe for Shaun White. A secret pipe, tucked into some backcountry haven. Then someone drops this email in my box today. That’s Velocity Basin, next to Silverton ski area.. White’s Wikipedia page notes that Red Bull began construction this month. Hoax? Interwebz pranksters? Seems a little off, but then never put it past Red Bull to go off. And they certainly adore Shaun. As well they should. Like him or not - and really, there’s very little to dislike about him personally. He’s a cool cat - he is the most blatantly ripping snowboarder in the pipe. Still, a pipe at the bottom of what, eight avalanche paths? $500k at Silverton? I’m calling Bee Ess. Pretty nice hoax tho. UPDATE: OK, I’ve fired up the BBQ. Anyone know any good recipes for crow? That Superpipe - built by Red Bull with an assist from Oakley - is legit and I’m a surprised bonehead. Word is White’s been in Silverton riding the heli and actually getting into some steep pow. Pipe was finished this week and it’s not just White’s pipe but a private playground for all kinds of Red Bulled and Oakley-gogg’d rippers. Sorry I was such a doubter.
2/15/2009 10:43:02 PM Did a search on this (via Google site: and the search button here, which finally works!) and didn't find anything, can't believe no one posted it yet! Sick video shot with the awesome 5D Mark II. Especially love that Volcom Gathering jacket at 2:30. Makes it look so much better than the product shots I've seen online. Might have to pick it up even though I have too many jackets already. 1/25/2009 8:30:59 AM Yowza, talk about out there. This new board looks like a nasty jump from the Salomon Burner boards (2007) where they had that raised platform for your bindings and stiffeners that extended from it. Totally not for the park heads but that center opening caught my interest. Wonder what it does for you other than the weight savings and more snow getting onto your deck. I suppose the weight savings from the missing center channel is negated by all that extra material for the cross-braced binding platform above the board. Seems like you are further removed from the board so would the 'feel' still be there or would this be a luxury cruiser where all the chatter is absorbed by the board and the binding structure? Anyone have experience with this badboy, or will be seeing it in person at SIA? Article below (http://www.besportier.com/archives/the-whip-snowboard-by-cheetah-ultra-sports.html): The Whip Snowboard by Cheetah Ultra Sports is the most original snowboard design we've seen in a long time. The Whip Snowboard comes out after four years of research and development from the Cheetah Ultra Sports team and is promised to fit better, feel lighter, go faster, cruise smoother, turn quicker, edge harder, carve sharper, jump higher, and land softer. Cheetah says that is does all that without any heel or toe drag, and that it makes riding so easy, most experienced riders will actually have to relax their riding style to get greater performance out of the board. The board is also easily lockable. The Whip F-117 is their first and the only model for the 08-09 season and production will be very limited (Only a few hundred boards will be produced this season) because each board is carefully hand crafted. So will this new snowboard design revolutionize the industry, or will it go down as a hyped up wannabe? Only time will tell. Cheetah Ultra Sports are currently accepting preorders and shipping will start in January 2009. You can pre-order the Whip Snowboard for a price of $1899.
1/21/2009 2:02:50 PM Old article, but didn't see it posted before. I did find this thread on the Eco Nico board though. Ski Report Board Makers Offer the Green Option By JESSE HUFFMAN Published: January 2, 2009 A growing number of new snowboards are going “green” this winter, heralding a change in manufacturing practices that has found some brands challenged to adapt, and others gaining belated recognition for their longstanding alternative approach to making boards. Skip to next paragraph Interest GuideSkiing Enlarge This Image Annette Veihelmann Mike Olson and Pete Saari, founders of Mervin Manufacturing. During a recent tour of the Burton snowboard factory in Williston, Vt., the parts of Burton’s first green snowboard, the Eco Nico, were displayed on a worktable. Fashioned from a startlingly simple palette of materials — a Forest Stewardship Council-certified wood core, a lacquer-free top sheet, 90-percent recycled steel edges, 100-percent recycled sidewalls and a 50-percent recycled base — the Eco Nico, said Todd King, Burton’s snowboard business unit director, “is the greenest of the green, the most sustainable board that we’ve ever made.” More snowboard makers than ever, from grass-roots innovators like Mervin in Sequim, Wash., to multinational companies like Burton, are offering green or eco-friendly boards this ski season. And the trend is just beginning. Boards made with sustainable materials account for just 2 percent of the $140 million board market, according to Snowsports Industries America, a trade group. A growing awareness of environmental issues and a demand for greener products led to the new additions in equipment lines, said Alex Warburton, product line manager for Salomon Snowboards of France.“Snowboarders are attached to the natural world,” he said. “They are going to be more apt to buy something that he or she feels is ecologically better for the planet. And if more sales are determined by how green you are, then you’re going to have everybody doing it.”Salomon won a 2008 Volvo Sports Design award for Eco Design for the construction of its Sick Stick snowboard. By using structural bamboo in the construction of the board, Salomon was able to both reduce the amount of resin in the board and mak
