7/18/2007 9:08:41 AM If you guys have the writing chops / expertise / time: QUALIFICATIONS: The purpose of the Snowboarding site is to teach, inform and otherwise enrich the experience of both casual and committed riders. The site will include such staples as tutorials, gear reviews and how-tos, mountain profiles, and some content covering the exploits of the pros. The Guide should have a professional background writing about snowboarding and be a recognized expert on the activity. The candidate will have the engaging writing voice of a columnist and the research and interviewing chops of a reporter, able to dig up information of vital interest and draw out interesting insights from other experts. Ideal qualifications include: - A journalist or author who has written extensively on the subject - A snowboarding pro or instructor PRIMARY AUDIENCE: Snowboarders interested in enriching their own leisure/amateur activities TOPICS TO COVER: This is not meant to be comprehensive; rather, it calls out basics that we'd like to see covered and serves as a foundation for the way in which we'd like topics to be organized. 4/30/2007 7:47:42 AM http://www.coolhunting.com/archives/2007/04/light_wave_surf_1.php Cool stuff... and very expensive: "Surfers who like to be on the waves before dawn or after dusk now have a solution to improve safety and visibility. The Light Wave surfboard by Santa Cruz Light Wells has battery operated lights—a white light on the right or left side of the board (depending on which way you ride) provides visibility to other surfers. A headlight is activated when the nose of the board goes up to help you see the waves, and a light in the tail helps illuminate your wake so other surfers can see you (and your talent). Multicolor lights in the fins help you, well, pimp your ride."
4/25/2007 6:36:08 AM %*@$)* I was just looking at it last night since they were announcing earnings this morning. 20% jump pre-market. Should, Woulda, Coulda... http://finance.google.com/finance?q=kto
4/24/2007 6:11:28 AM Anyone know anything about the company, their history? I just tried on a pair of the Type R goggles this past weekend at Darkside in Killington and fell in love with them. They fit better than the Oakleys and are pretty much on par with my Dragon Maces. Just ordered two pairs off of eBay. Will probably get the Forma's late next season (word is that they aped Fat Five?). Just curious on what this company is all about. They sponsor a good number of well known riders... Edit: Hoon, just saw that you commented on the Snowboard-Mag thread I stole the image from.
2/26/2007 7:15:17 AM Looks like we got some sweet snow in NYC. Anyone want to hit up the Creek tomorrow?
2/21/2007 6:09:56 AM My friend got this a few years ago. Decided to take it out for a spin this past weekend with my Ride BETA bindings. Anyone know who makes these promotional boards? Probably some crappy Chinese company eh? Doubt Elan would touch these hehe.
2/20/2007 12:18:44 PM Wonder what they will change their name to now... http://www.twsbiz.com/twbiz/industrynews/article/0,21214,1591790,00.html Posted 02.20.2007 February 13, 2007 Today, the participants in the M3 (Millennium 3) Vs. M4 (Millennium 4) trademark litigation proceedings announced a settlement binding all parties to an agreement in the resolution of this issue. Under the terms of the agreement, Cold Sports Distribution Inc.and Elan will immediately cease all sales and advertising activity Worldwide. Cold Sports Distribution and Elan will honour all order commitments, and Elan will produce the snowboards, for these commitments. As of December 31, 2007, all activity around the M4 name with respect to snowboards and related goods will cease and the M4 name will no longer be available. This is the best solution available, in order not to penalize our dealers. It also allows everyone a graceful exit, and avoids costly litigation, all parties have agreed. Shaun Morris of A. Mordo & Son Ltd. states “We encourage all dealers who have made a commitment to M4 to live up to that commitment. While we regret that this was ever an issue, our hope is that all parties keep the dealers interests first and foremost.” "Evolving our brand name will give us a chance to incorporate more of the passion our Team has for snowboarding into our branding. The philosophy, aesthetic and focus on quality upon which M4 was founded will not change. The new branding will only amplify it." -Blaise Rosenthal "We have agreed to change the name of our M4 line of snowboards for the 08-09 collection to avoid potential confusion with Millennium Three Snowboards. All M4 boards will retain their full warranty coverage guaranteed by the Elan factory, and Cold Sports will continue to provide the high level of customer service and satisfaction we're known for. We're confident in the quality of our products and in our ability to transition the momentum of M4 into our new brand name for our 08-09 collection." -Bruce Caslowitz
1/31/2007 9:49:30 AM I was perusing some other forums and collected some quotes related to snowboarding. I looked around Sierra and didn't find a similar thread so I thought we'd start one. You guys got any? There are also a lot of funny quotes from this article which has been around for a while: http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/living/columnists/dave_barry/13861456.htm "I tell you the truth, The Kingdom of Heaven is like the brave snowboarder who enters through the narrow opening in the trees. He finds many fresh turns there, and blessings of all kinds. And there is weeping and gnashing of teeth on the icy groomed runs for the lazy snowboarder who takes the wide open path." "I know a lot of people that used to ski, but I don't know anyone who used to snowboard." "Snowboarding is not a sport its a lifestyle." "Ride to live. Live to ride." "Everyone knows that no one is in control, really, but at the same time, if you're gonna be out of control, at least do it where you can land it, and not end up broken and lost." Shawn Farmer - Riders on the Storm "Many people attach snowboards to their feet; few attach them to their souls." "Your parents say you need direction. What's wrong with down?" "You can never own the snow but you can sure try as hard as you want to tame it." "The snowboard is your friend. It has never lied to you, never broken a promise and is always there when you need it- and if it isn't, it's not it's fault!" "Some people have all the fun. I like to call those people, the Snowboarders." "There are no friends on a powder day." "Go big or go home." dcdomain2007-01-31 10:32:12
1/18/2007 10:25:28 PM I'm sure you guys have seen the Dick in a Box video already... but the following videos had me dying: http://video.nbc.com/v/?linkId=51288 http://bubblare.se/justin_timberlake_on_snl_omeleville_sketch/ (older and not as good as the one above, so you may want to watch this first)
1/17/2007 11:28:37 AM So after my order for the 686 Smarty Soldier jacket got canceled (a good thing since I saw it in stores and it looks huge), I started looking around for another jacket. If you've been following some of my posts, I came across two L1 jackets (Waiting for the Blackout, Machine Gun Etiquette), but have been unsuccessful in obtaining them. I browsed through some sites earlier today and came up with the following selection. A quick question though, I remember going into a store in Killington asking if they carried Billabong products and the guy stated they only supported 'real snowboarding brands' and they would never consider carrying Billabong. Why is there beef? The company owns Nixon which seems to have a great following here (Hoon). Anyway, onto the jackets. I'm looking for something in white (maybe gray) that's not baggy. The Sessions jackets listed below states that they are a baggy fit, I'm hoping that buying a smaller size will be a good workaround. Any thoughts on the following brands / models? Bonfire Optic Balance Snowboard Jacket $199.95 ($270) http://www.the-house.com/bo3oba04bzzbonfirebalancejacket.html Sessions Combaticon Snowboard Jacket $179.95 ($259) http://www.the-house.com/se3co01cw6zzsessionsjackets.html Sessions Flipside Snowboard Jacket (free hoodie!) $129.95 ($189.95) http://www.the-house.com/se3fl02cw6zzsessionsjackets.html Billabong: Men's Trans AM Jacket $187.97 ($249.95) http://www.altrec.com/shop/detail/25324/
12/20/2006 6:56:36 PM Since I've been working, I've neglected the 'creative/artistic' side of me. Figured if there was anything that would get me to sit down and draw, Photoshop, etc. it would be snowboarding related.   There are a lot of contests out there, some of the big ones have passed this year (Ride, Salomon) but there are a few still popping up. Purpose of this thread is to keep a record of them. Feel free to add to this list (I'll edit it) and if you are entering any of them, good luck!   Running: GNU: Saw this in an issue of TWS. Killington: Design a logo for Ride Killington. Deadline 4/31/07. (http://www.killington.com/ridek/ridek.html, click on Contest)   Rome: Poster collage contest, involves collecting all the ads running this season, I'll post any I find/scan.(http://www.romesnowboards.com/syndicate/poster-contest/)   Scott: Design a goggle. (12/20/2006 5:02:04 PM I looked all over their site and only found one email address. I emailed them but haven't heard back.   The Tex Cargo Pants have two buttons above the fly zipper. After my first day using it (a mild crappy day at Pico Mountain) when I went to change, one of the two buttons popped right off.   Anyone have experience with Sessions products? This was my first item and the button popping off was a pretty big let down, especially considering the cost of the pants.
