5/27/2010 8:12:23 AM I saw this video, and a lot of really hit home, as well as a lot of very interesting points being made. For those of you whom have never had the chance to meet or ride with the owner of Sierra, or the Sierra staff, these guys are incredibly motivated about what they do, much after office hours. Anyhow, it made sense to post this video here. It's a video discussing what motivates people, at home, and in the workplace. If you've ever worked in a crappy job, or a great one, or if you're a person still in school or just looking for a new position, a lot of this might make sense to you. Its beautifully animated and very much inspiring on both a personal and purposeful level.  [tube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u6XAPnuFjJc&feature=player_embedded[/tube]
4/12/2010 9:09:02 AM Little history between these two, this is a fight people have been wanting to see for some years. Mosley is 4-1 in his last 5 fights, and is coming off a 15 month break. Floyd is undefeated at 40-0. Something of significance, this will be the first fight in America that uses Olympic style drug testing, which i'm a big fan of. the NSAC is simply bullshit to me. Anyhow, you can catch the first episode of the HBO series 24/7 here, the fight is in 20 days.
3/5/2010 7:03:06 PM Forgot about this board, but its officially for sale. Great shape, maybe 10-12 days on it, hasn't even been used in the 2010 season, and still has the summer wax on it.   Looking to move it for about $220 shipped, $200 if you're local. In tahoe now, but i'll post pictures when i get back to the bay. It'll be going up on ebay soon, but i'd rather sell it to a community member.
3/1/2010 12:07:42 PM Or is there some arbitrary fear of riding longer snowboards? Im not talking like 194 length boards, i mean a board that would actually fit 'your' size well. It feels like once you get to around 158 or 159, people get seriously afraid of snowboard length. If you weight 230 lbs, you dont need to be on a 155.  There's nothing wrong with riding a board that fits your size. [/rant]
2/24/2010 9:39:21 PM First day out on the fish ltd. Here's my review, from what the board was telling me. You've heard of me. You've probably dreamt of me. I'm the slim niche accessory to your quiver you've thought about buying, hoped about needing. You've probably wondered if im worth the hype. WTF is taper anyhow? How often do you really need a powder board. Let me tell you how i roll. Price: $700. Rider: Gifted. 5'11, 180 lbs. Usual board: 2010 Burton Custom V-Rocker. Bindings: 2010 Burton Cartels. Stance: 12/-10. Width: 23.5 Inches. Resort: Northstar At Tahoe. Conditions: Bluebird powder day. Fresh lines till last call. Why you want me: You dream of powder, but you haven't experienced powder, till you've experienced me. Flex: Medium-stiff. Cambered on the back, s-rocker towards the nose. Nothing too stiff, definitely not soft. Stability: Go ahead and build your house on top of me. I'm as stable a snowboard as your confidence in yourself. Groomers: No powder? No problem. Eff what you heard, I'm far from one dimensional. I eat groomers for lunch, i just prefer to murder the deep white. I am just as fast any other snowboard. Probably faster. Sintered N20 WFO base.. the hell were you expecting? S-rocker and taper are nothing to be afraid of. Grow a pair. Pop:  At first glance, you might think the tail is pointless. Be prepared to be surprised. Very surprised. Loading the little tail is incredibly easy, and if you don't look back, you'll forget it's a swallowtail. As much pop as a Custom V-Rocker. Believe that. In the Chop: Chop? WTF is chop? Don't you see my big ass nose? You must be talking about slap-chop. I know no such 'chop' you speak of. I bulldoze over and through anything. I oughta slap you just for asking about 'chop'. Carving/Turn Initiation: I'm a bit interesting. Sure aint what you're used to. Being noticeably more setback, engaging the nose to dig is goings to be different. Once you catch the swing of that, let loose baby. Easy as pie. Not harder to carve, just a slightly different style. Charging: Doooooo it. STFU and do it. Pull the trigger, i'm with ya the whole way. I bomb like nagasaki. Pressing: Not my speciality, but i can get it done if i need to. But why would you want to? Go get some lines. Tailpressing is obviously much easier, bc you're sittin on the damn tail. Switch: You do know im a directional tapered powder board right? Save that switch crap for your jibstick or whatever her name is. Point the nose, and shoot. Powder: I run this shit. This is my planet, and everybody else is just visiting. Look at em, with their twin shapes, and no taper. Silly bishes. I will not nosedive. I will not slow down. I will float and float and float. And then i'll float some more. Remember that whole 'leg burn' ish people yap about? Sucks for them. Lean back if you want to, you're only slowing yourself down. There is no competition to me. Charlie couldn't slay me with a 10-foot blade. Malolo? Ma no-no. Look at the line you just put down. Gorgeous aint it? Those others guys are riding powder, im surfing it. Killing it. Faster. FASTER. Why are you slowing down?? Just go, bish, have faith in me! I'm a better board than you are rider. Get it together. I am the best powder board on the planet. Believe the hype. All of it. And then add some of your own, because its all damn true.
2/13/2010 10:02:34 AM Whoops.. originally put this in the public BTS portion.. anyhow, does Sierra use google analytics for their website? i think it could be an awesome way to track traffic, site movement, and could help with design implementation. http://www.google.com/analytics/tour.html
2/13/2010 9:39:22 AM I imagine theres going to be plenty stories and tidbits coming out of the games..just wanna consolidate what could possibly be 40 different threads lol..lets just put all and any relevant Olympic info/stories here! So far, here's what we know. 1. Canada absolutely sucks at opening games. By far, the worst ceremony i've ever seen. Giant polar bears..malfunctioning pillars.. a snowboard indie grab to open the games.. riverdance and slam poetry? wtf. bryan adams is alive? didn't he move to the UK years ago? shoulda got celine dion. Ugh, that was painful to watch. Best part of the whole ceremony was Nelly Furtado's blue dress. 2. Universal condolences to the family of the luger who died. Huge tragedy. 3. the olympics are like cross-breeding pegasus and unicorns..? Ah well.. here's to a safe rest of the olympic games.
2/4/2010 1:16:09 PM So, i guess theres a big game this wknd? I'll be snowboarding, but apparently hulu will be showing all of the commercials online. Whats the thoughts on whos gonna win this game? edit: better question, does anybody care? go saints!
1/30/2010 8:04:24 PM YES. YES. YES. Second year of production, and YES is still doing it. I first thought the brand name was cheesy, at least until i rode one. Few boards have blown me away so quickly. Board felt beefier, definitely stiffer than i was used to, but flexes where/when i wanted it to and carves like a Hattori Hanzo. The grip is ridiculous. A total of 5 boards will be in production through YES for 2011. In the first picture, from left to right, they are the YES Typo, YES Hand Sign, (which is Tadashi Fuses model, and comes complete with FOB poses), YES GDOH (Great Dudes of History), YES Optimistic, (DCP's model), and the YES Basic. I believe the basic will be traditional cambered, except for one of the higher sizes. The typo will have the camrock. YES. TYPO 2 Sizes: 149,152,154,156,159,162 Features • Camrock • Twin Shape & Flex • Poplar core with reinforced beech along the inner edge • ABS Sidewalls/Printed Sidewalls • Triax Glass • Tip, Tail, and edge dampening • Screen printed Extruded Stone Ground Base • High Gloss with skate grip effect on letters(matte on letters) • Rider: Romain De Marchi Pricing: $399 YES. Great Dudes Of History (G.D.O.H) Sizes: 149, 152, 154, 156, 159, 162 Features • Camrock • Twin ASYM Shape & Flex • Ultimate Grip Edge • ABS Sidewalls/Printed Sidewalls • Poplar core with reinforced beech along the inner edge • Triax Glass • Carbon Stringers • Tip, Tail, and edge dampening • Die-Cut (flipped)Sintered Stone Ground Base (Bases will be red and white) • High Gloss Finish topsheet • Rider: JP Solberg and Romain De Marchi Pricing: $449 YES. Optimistic Sizes: 149, 152, 154, 156, 159, 162 Features • Camrock • Directional • Poplar core with reinforced beech along the inner edge • ABS Sidewalls/printed sidewalls • Triax Glass • Carbon Stringers • Tip, Tail, and edge dampening • Die Cut / screened Sintered Stone Ground Base • High Gloss topsheet with gold hot-stamped letters • Rider: DCP Pricing: $479 Good thing everybodys gonna be on the capita bandwagon.
1/30/2010 11:21:30 AM SIA is here, and the secrets are out. Or really, they have been for a while, but i assume its ok to put this stuff up now. Really enjoy a lot of what burton is doing graphic-wise, but im a clean and simple graphic kinda guy. Plenty of familiar faces in the snowboard lineup, as well as a few (some pleasant) surprises. Looks like Burton is expanding their v-rocker shape, to a few different variations. Feel free to add anything you may've found on your own. Lets get it started!

1/6/2010 9:25:09 PM Chinese car park has wider spaces for women drivers A shopping centre in the northern Chinese city of Shijiazhuang has built a car park with extra-wide spaces to accommodate female drivers.   By Malcolm Moore in Shanghai Published: 9:50AM GMT 29 Dec 2009 A car park that offers women drivers bigger parking spaces at a shopping centre in Shijiazhuang, north China's Hebei province Photo: AFP The Wanxiang-Tiancheng shopping centre women-only car park has bays that are three feet wider than normal and painted in a delicate pink and light purple colour scheme.Female parking attendants have been employed to guide female drivers into their berths, which are also better lit than in the ordinary car park.   Wang Zheng, the manager of the facility, said that the design would appeal to women's "strong sense of colour and different sense of distance".He said: "There is a scientific basis for all this. Women have a poorer sense of distance when they are locked inside a small space. That is why female drivers often bump the front and back of their cars. There is also a 15 per cent greater chance that a woman will whack her car door into another car when she opens it."One female driver interviewed by the Hebei Youth Daily newspaper said she appreciated the gesture. The driver, who was named only as Miss Zhang, said: "Female drivers just are not as good as male drivers, technically. The added space helps us to park safely. I think it shows respect for women. I hope that other facilities will take women's needs into consideration."China is currently the world's largest car market as its increasingly wealthy middle class takes to the roads. The China Association of Automobile Manufacturers expects car sales to top 13 million in 2009.However, driving remains a risky proposition, with more than 200 deaths in road accidents every day, according to the police.

12/16/2009 10:47:51 AM So i'm out riding yesterday with my buddies, and i see something that freaks me out. This guy had fallen down on the run, and some douchebag who he clearly didnt know, rode by him and sprayed him with snow. Sure, we all don't like it when people decide to sit and have tea parties in the middle of the run, but i cant help but wonder why somebody would actually want to spray somebody with snow? This kinda douchebag behavior is exactly why people label snowboarders as punk kids, assholes and whatever else. Why do people do this, and what makes em think they wont spray the wrong person, ie me. Let's discuss.
12/10/2009 11:15:37 AM Ten reasons to choose women over guns. #10. You don't need a permit to carry a woman. #9. Putting your woman in a lockbox is far more dangerous than leaving her out. #8. Having a lot of women means youre popular. Having a lot of guns means you're lonely. #7. Making a woman recoil is far more impressive. #6. Women clean themselves. #5. Alcohol + women = awesome. Alcohol + guns = shooting off your big toe. #4. A blindfolded man with a gun is dangerous. A blindfolded man with a woman is in heaven. #3. It's ok to leave your woman loaded. #2. It's perfectly safe to sleep with women. And the number 1 reason a woman is favored over a gun... #1. Women are far more dangerous than guns ever will be. #1. Boobs.
