8/1/2010 9:36:54 PM It's been very windy today so i think they've been closing lifts because of that. We've had a bunch of snow (snowed all day yesterday, and on and off today). It is however extremely windy. Wind is forecast into tomorrow morning then should be clearing from what i've heard.
7/31/2010 5:30:00 PM It's snowing now, this week should be very good if anyone is looking to come up to buller. We have lots of big fluffy flakes coming down now. It's looking rather good outside.
7/30/2010 5:21:40 AM Dew Hut Jam tomorrow folks, as well as snow man building competition in the village square from 1-3pm (hope you like working with ice, because thats all thats there!) There are fireworks on saturday night at 6:30pm, depending on the weather. Hopefully they'll be better than last week's bright flashes in the fog. I've got a media pass for dew hut, so should be pretty awesome :)
7/29/2010 9:12:25 PM Well, lots of rain today on and off. Conditions on the slopes are sloppy when not icy. Village square is solid ice when it isn't just mush or brick.
7/29/2010 12:20:13 AM Rained on and off all day today. Very foggy, very soft mushy snow. Everyone here at the lodge either slept or read books. If they went out, they were out for only an hour or so.
7/28/2010 7:27:11 AM Rain got pretty heavy earlier, we had some fun indoors with the other lodge patrons and managers - a variation of pool which was pretty fun. Not going to bother going out tomorrow morning, guessing a lot of cover will be gone and more going away during the day. Was 2.3c outside at village level at 11pm.
7/28/2010 3:36:41 AM Actually scratch that, it did rain. Still chance of snow later on.
7/28/2010 3:34:27 AM I'd love to try an air bag. So scared of trying jumps because i know i'll bugger up the landing haha. We didn't see that rain this afternoon thankfully. Still hoping for snow. Tomorrow has a bunch of rain forecast, so does friday :( Weekend and early next week are looking better for snow.
7/27/2010 2:29:34 AM Today was pretty good on bourke street, and it should have been busier today, being tightass tuesday (uni students half price). Last weekend was *insane* on bourke, it's actually been hard to get to the bottom because of the amount of people stacking it near the end. Today was pretty good all in all, there wasn't too much ice and what was there wasnt really in a spot that mattered so much. There was a bit of a layer of manmade on top which is pretty good to board in, with the high temps that softened up a bit in the afternoon. Lift queues were pretty minimal today, shakey on the weekend was a 10-15min wait but today was right on through - same with holden, bull run and BB.I didnt run it based on other peoples advice, but wombat was solid ice and very difficult to go down, LBS was a bit better however we didnt get to that (GF still learning).I'm really hoping they can get the snowguns on tonight to give us some cover before the rain takes it away.
7/27/2010 1:26:50 AM We're using snowinsurance.com.au in this trip too. No troubles so far, but they're backed by allianz and have a very good list of coverage.
7/27/2010 1:00:15 AM Well today wasn't that bad, shakey knees softened up nicely in the afternoon. There was a forecast for snow this week, however thats changed to rain/heavy rain. Tomorrow looking at rain with chance increasing from 12pm to 6pm with a 50% chance of snow from 6pm to midnight. Thursday is rain from midnight to 9am (with a decent chance of it being heavy), with more rain starting in the afternoon. If we get this rain, i think we'll be lucky to get away with 50cm of ice left. This weekend -  Sierra get together and Mountain Dew Hut Jam (ramp and jump are there, hut is yet to be built)
7/26/2010 5:21:01 AM Not much point coming up to be honest. I've seen more snow at the ice rink, and less ice too. It's pretty icy, tending towards slushy in the village areas. We've lost about 30cm of cover since friday. They had the snowguns going last night, but that didnt really do much, snow guns should go on again tonight. Rain is forecast for later in the week, wednesday could go either way by the looks. Hourly forecast says no rain, with a 40% chance of snow around 9pm - daily forecast says 10-20mm of rain. Thurs/fri both have rain forecast, with the chance of snow showing up on sunday.
7/24/2010 8:12:47 PM The mountain is basically ice today, with a layer of "snow" that's about 5-10mm thick. The "snow" is more like beachsand thats a little too light. It's not very fast stuff, and there isn't a great deal of grip. A cloud is blocking a lot of the sunlight on the north facing runs so they are not softening up. Snow forecast for this afternoon - general consensus on the mountain and in the lodge here is that it wont happen. We'll see i guess, just as long as we don't get rain it's all good.
7/24/2010 8:01:07 PM The ones i saw, yes. A lot of people getting their first snowboards from sierra ;)
7/24/2010 3:44:38 PM Guy in sessions gear +sierra board at MBP, around 11:19am 24/07/10. Photo by me. Saw lots of sierra boards around town and on bourke st (all beginners mostly) and almost none in the park :(
