8/27/2010 2:15:29 PM Yeah, I'm not saying we haven't had some basic fixes throughout on the car, but really nothing major other than the transmission and clutch, which was more of a preemptive thing than necessary at the time.  We had money and knew it would need to be done sometime in the near future, so we did it to keep the beast alive and well.  With any car approaching or just over 10 years old things will start failing, but in general, Subarus are pretty well known for taking beatings and charging through.  This is the second one that I've had running strong at 200,000+ miles and I don't plan to change that anytime soon.  We're actually in the process of finding a used engine to swap in to keep him purring for many more miles..... we just can't let this one go yet
8/27/2010 1:28:17 PM Brody and I have just hit 240,000 on our '00 Impreza Outback Sport.  To date, we've got a new tranny and clutch (at around 200,000 and it wasn't even completely necessary at the time) and really have not had any problems other than that to speak of.  It's finally eating a little bit of oil, but it's not even really an amount to start getting worried about.  I'd say that the years that you're looking at, you'll be lucky to find one with less than 100,000 miles on it.  I wouldn't be worried about the mileage as much as who drove it and how they drove it.  If it's been an adult driving it who didn't rally the crap out of it, it's probably fine.  But if some teenage kid has had it through high school..... well, we all know how we drove at that age..... at least me and those that I've known as teens   I think that getting one that doesn't have a salvage title and has had a fairly decent owner throughout its life will do you wonders.  How much are you looking to spend?  There have been a few here in Seattle area popping up on Craigslist lately.  I can keep an eye out for you and hit you up if something comes up that seems like a great deal.
8/27/2010 11:54:54 AM They can't anymore because the webcam is built into the monitor that they do the spin on.
8/26/2010 9:08:33 PM I know which you're talking about, but I can't seem to find it right now.  Even though the Doughboys, Grocers and Skunk Apes are long, they wouldn't be nearly wide enough for that size 22 boot.  They're relatively narrow, even though they're long.  And, that board doesn't look like it was built to be long, as much as it was to be wide to accommodate the ridiculously large foot.  They have it next to a Sherlock, which only comes in a 163 as the longest version, and that Vapor isn't all that much longer than it.
8/26/2010 5:44:46 PM Haha, this one?  This is Brody's 193 Lib Tech Doughboy.  It would be interesting to hear the specs on that Vapor.

8/20/2010 12:38:38 PM These have been posted numerous times throughout the past year+ and are not exactly fantastic thread topics.  Sorry, but I'm locking this.
8/17/2010 3:20:17 PM Do I need to make more of a bullseye over the Giveaway one in particular for you Mike?

8/16/2010 11:56:22 AM Venture may not make women-specific boards, but many of the manufacturers do and do actually have different specs on them from their men's boards.  As Guth said, we do have different muscle mass, which will have varying effects.   Venture may make more aggressive boards, which really wouldn't work well for marketing to women and probably wouldn't have any difference between aggressive women's boards and their men's boards.  But that doesn't mean that the less aggressive women's boards aren't made differently by other manufacturer's..... just like youth boards.   Then generally need the softer cores to be more easily manipulated and ride easier overall.  With that said, it doesn't mean we CAN'T ride men's boards if we decide to, it just means that they'll generally be stiffer and maybe a bit wider on average than a comparable women's board of similar size.  And, some manufacturers very well still may use the same boards and slap different graphics on them to market to the women, but there are some more reputable ones who actually do seem to have different tech that does seem more suitable for the smaller statures and muscle mass. This is all based on my opinion though.  I have, and still do, ride various womens and mens boards from a few manufacturers, and there has generally been a noticeable difference between them for me.
8/5/2010 4:34:07 PM Seems like this may go down a similar road to the past Interracial Marriage issues.  It will be interesting to see this play out in the Supreme Court..... and it's surely long over-due.
8/3/2010 2:30:36 PM The screws should come with the ICS board
7/23/2010 12:54:45 PM So, JD thought the Craigslist ad was yours..... meaning he thought you won a board and were trying to get $150 for it.  He hit you up asking if you'd be willing to get yourself some good karma since some can't afford new gear.  Yes, he is a college kid, so he wasn't bs'ing you that he's broke.... as most college kids are.  It's not a huge issue, no he's not being shady and it was a valid question since he was under the misunderstanding that the Craigslist that you posted was yours.   /issue
7/22/2010 4:39:45 PM I want to thank everyone who contacted me in regards to this thread.  I had over 20 members get in touch with me.  We only needed a handful for right now, but I do have all of you on a list to refer to in the future if/when we decide to expand again. Again, thank you all for your continued support.
