11/13/2011 7:04:52 PM I tried teaching myself the first few times but was getting frustrated. Taking a lesson was probably the best money I've spent in my time snowboarding
11/10/2011 8:58:53 PM I think Penn State made the right decision. While Joe may not be as wrong as many other people in this case, he still was a man of power and didn't handle it properly. Besides, the whole old guy figurehead coach thing was getting a little old, it was his time to go years ago
11/10/2011 8:33:09 PM After going downhill mtn biking and seeing the full protection some of the more hardcore riders had, I am considering the spine protectors that are aimed at biking and action sports
11/10/2011 8:24:57 PM I recommend the kind that are waterproof!
10/24/2011 9:22:32 PM Looks awesome, I just bought the regular HD Hero this past spring but I want to upgrade just for the 11mp still pics since I use it for pictures just as much/more than video
10/21/2011 6:22:13 PM Awesome! They're gonna start blowing snow u here at Whistler this sunday. Opening day is Nov. 24, but barring a huge heat wave we'll be opening a week or 2 early
9/20/2011 11:10:34 PM Its my first season here after years of midwest riding. I'm hearing tons of awesome stories about powder and other things I haven't experienced. RREEALLLLY looking forward to mid-November!
9/19/2011 10:09:43 PM Well I've been in Whistler for a week now and on Saturday we had the first snowfall of the new season up at the peak, all the way down to mid-station. Just happened to go hiking up there with my roommate too. Here are some of the pics I took (Including some Vancouver pics from last week) http://flic.kr/s/aHsjwgNnnb
9/8/2011 8:45:50 AM I'm gonna try to check it out at the Whistler premier on Monday. Hopefully the tickets aren't sold out by the time I get there on Friday night!
8/7/2011 8:40:48 AM Haven't read the whole thread so I don't know your education and experience, but if you're in school, don't be afraid to do an unpaid internship at a resort. I have one coming up at Whistler this winter for human resource and I asked about opportunities for advancement in the interview. The woman interviewing me said about 70% of their unpaid interns end up getting a full time paid offer when they are done the unpaid term. They take care of your accommodations, ski pass, etc. and if you're hard up for cash you usually only work 4-5 days so you can get a bar job or whatever on the weekends to pay for food/partying. Good luck!
7/29/2011 6:17:31 PM Well after much research and debate, I ended up narrowing it down to the Lib Tech T.Rice or TRS , Capita BSOD, and K2 Slayblade, with the T.Rice and BSOD being my preferred rides Couldn't find a year old version of the k2 or capita anywhere for under $400 so I ended up going with the T.Rice C2BTX. Its a 161.5 which is a tiny bit longer than I was looking at but I think it'll work well since it's not being used for park or butters or anything. Thanks to everyone for the help and pointing me in the right direction!
7/26/2011 7:21:01 AM The BSOD's are almost impossible to find used/year old. I'm really liking the T.Rice Lib Tech boards. I found a 161.5 T.Rice Pro C2BTX HP Point Tip for around $345 shipped. Used but no core shots or any real damage. Seems like a decent deal for the HP model. Is this a pretty good price or should I keep looking?
7/23/2011 2:59:34 PM Thanks for the suggestion Spenser. The black death looks like it'd work well for me. I do love my scope and will probably bring it along but I find it gets a bit unstable when I start riding aggressively and get on the steeper, faster runs. From researching, the Rome Anthem also looks like a good fit for my needs
7/23/2011 2:34:56 PM Guess I should have been more specific lol. I'd like a bit of taper for some float, but not too much since it won't be a powder only board. I have no preference when it comes to profiles. Whatever board I can rip hard carves with works for me no matter what the profile is. As for stiffness, I'd like a bit of a stiffer one for less chatter at high speeds (correct me if I'm wrong on that point) but still flexy enough to make it through tree runs. I know there's tons of boards that fit this, just looking for some people that have real world experience with different boards.
7/23/2011 2:03:04 PM Well I got an internship at Whistler-Blackcomb for the 2011/2012 winter season. I've already got a SierraScope for goofing around but I'm looking for something that can rip up the bowls, black diamonds, occasional powder day, etc. This board won't see park or halfpipe, maybe some small kickers at best so it doesn't need to be remotely good at park stuff. It will be paired up with some Union Forces that I recently picked up. I'm 6' 170 lbs. so I'm thinking 158-160 would be a good size for this type of board for me. I've been looking at the Sierra Bluebird, and a couple others but would really like some suggestions so I can look around more.
