4/5/2010 3:05:26 PM The front page layout is new today, isn't it? It looks very sharp. Good job and two thumbs up for the developers on all the updates they've been doing lately -
3/29/2010 11:01:15 AM Just saw this over the weekend. Winter resorts one of the seasonal industries impacted by new health care regs. Higher ticket prices or less staff coming to a slope near you? No idea how many people run through the resorts to know if it would be $2/ticket or $10+/ticket to cover. Original article was in New Hampshire Union Leader. "The bill signed into law on Tuesday by President Barack Obama fines businesses that do not provide health insurance to full-time employees who work more than 120 days a year. The assessment is $2,000 per employee, which, according to SkiNH lobbyist Bruce Berke and group president Alice Pearce, could mean as much as $1 million in fines to the big ski resorts, some of which hire as many as 500 seasonal workers." ... "The new provision has ski areas and the hotel and lodging industry nationally concerned. In Colorado, a Steamboat Springs official said it could cost that resort as much as $2 million a year."
3/24/2010 5:33:57 PM I'm considering a second board and leaning towards a Sierra Reverse Crew or Bluebird. I was wondering how the two compare. Is the Bluebird also Reverse camber? I thought PDE implies that, but wasn't sure. I really like the Bluebird graphics, if it would ride well for me, but I'm not sure if the 159 would be too large. I'm 5'10" and 170, but hoping to lose 20 by next season . New rider this year at beginner level, but I can link turns and getting comfortable pointing the nose downhill and letting it run. I'm in the midwest, and will mostly be going to a small hill 10-20 times next season. I currently have a Sierrascope 152 and would like to try stiffer flex and larger board for more stability downhill. Riding is just downhill so far, and I have the Sierrascope if I want to go park as I progress.
