6/23/2015 8:18:24 AM well said lightning. I've walked with the Lord enough to know that the hope and plans He has for us are a well lit path. secure, prosperous in any and every direction. In short, He watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish. discouragement, no hope, peace, or future. nothing works or looks like it will work. death or life. how hard IS obedience indeed. if one could just be obedient all the time, they would rest in that awesome zone, where everything he does prospers.
6/20/2015 7:56:35 PM The 10 Commandments NEED to be followed. God wrote them Himself, in stone... Mt 5:17-20: Jesus fulfilled the "law", but those who break the "commandments" and teach others to do so will be called the least in the kingdom of heaven. There's a difference between "law" and "commandments". In the NT, we no longer need to follow the "law", but we still need to follow the "commandments". Jesus Himself says we should keep them and not break them:Jn 14:15, 21; Jn 15:10...if you love Me, keep My "commandments" Then disciples wrote that we should keep them:1 Jn 5:2-4; 2 Jn 1:6...keep "commandments", walk in them So, which part of the Bible did it say we don't need to follow/keep the 10 commandments? Because that's what your logic indicates.
you are correct in the technical, however, the rich young ruler said, "ALL these have I kept..." He went away sad. He missed the boat. I'm not here saying you don't need to follow the 10 commandments. I'm not naive. On the contrary, God wants us to not be Pharisaical by not loving our neighbor as ourselves. 1 Corinthians 13 emphasizes the importance of LOVE above everything else.
5/27/2015 4:32:27 PM your thoughts on In Touch ministries by Pastor Charles Stanley. I just discovered his devotional in addition to his YouTube sermons.
5/27/2015 4:25:37 PM just wondering if anyone local has any rails set up and are riding in the rain. I would be if I had a hill steep enough. got the rails.
5/26/2015 9:41:17 PM all good points to be considered. along with the actual date of Christmas...which actually originated from a pagan holiday called Christ's Mass - where all evil was 'allowed' for a few days. I'd say it's about the heart. The Bible says that that's what He looks at anyway. Simply going to church for me doesn't always do something drastic. I have to desire to receive from Him and worship Him.
5/21/2015 8:31:08 PM I'm not asking IF, but HOW keeping the sabbath is directly related to salvation. How is the sabbath to be kept? How is it being violated?
The Sabbath Day is Saturday (technically sundown Friday to sundown Saturday). But most Christians keep Sunday as their day of worship. On what day are these people keeping the Sabbath? And how is that different from which day Jesus and the disciples kept the Sabbath?
I'd say it's a heart thing. man looks on the outward appearance/performance/rituals but God looks at the heart. I think the important thing to think about is to focus more on the relationship of knowing Jesus vs an O.T. almost legalistic view. While it is a command to keep the sabbath, obedience is better than sacrifice. Loving one another as Christ loves us is better than church attendance. It is by no means essential nor possible to receive salvation from anything other than Grace, and not by keeping the sabbath.
5/17/2015 4:15:36 PM What has Stanley written that has caused you to "question the validity" of your salvation?
I grew up in church. obeying my parents and for the most part being good. I didn't really understand Jesus as my savior, just a friend. I guess a good friend He was, because the Holy Spirit produced His fruit in my life. However, I went through a period of rebellion. running away from home and questioning God's love for me. years later after coasting through many a church service and even narrating for our Choir twice, I began to grow tired of trying to be good. "For I know that good does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do good but cannot carry it out." Romans 7:18. I would hear the voice of the Holy Spirit but would easily choose my own will. The book I mentioned has challenged the way I thought of what Jesus has done for me, and now I realize I cannot produce righteousness in and of myself, or any of the other fruit. NOTHING! I thought for a long time I needed Christ in me so I could try harder. close, but so far and frustrating. Now, thanks to Charles Stanley opening up about his own experience of trying hard. well regimented dose of physical exercise, vitamins, healthy eating, reading the word, being a pastor... I'm learning to depend on Him more. (sorry for the book.) (this is the rough draft, lol.)
5/13/2015 9:14:13 PM went down with the Army to take the ASVAB. by God's grace and with much prayer and dependance on Him, I did very well. ready for the next step.
5/12/2015 3:14:32 PM God is good. James 4:10. Jeremiah 29:11-13. He lead me to locate the paperwork I needed to get a waiver to join the Marine Corps. Object acquired!!
5/12/2015 3:11:38 PM hey dudes. anyone know of any turf locations for snowboarding/skiing near Camelback?
5/11/2015 3:36:26 PM wow. what a quote from Abraham Lincoln. so wise due to remaining in Christ and being filled with the Holy Spirit. I'm reading a book now called ''The Wonderful Spirit Filled Life" by Charles Stanley. Read it, you just might question the validity of your salvation. I know I have.
5/9/2015 11:06:05 PM dudes! what a perfect end to the season. Big Boulder's May Day was a hit! 500 participants, a snow ball fight, gnarly tricks n flips, food, and fellowship. waiting in the lift line 30-45 minutes. sliding across 6 box rails in a row. it was raw. at the show. till you fall. no more flow. now a stall on a rail that is tall, without fail. kicked off the slopes by the rangers at 4:45... back on by about 6 for kicks and some sick dope danger. hike session with 2 friends. bustin mad stunts until the day ends. definitely worth the $10! hope to see you all when the snow resumes next year. have a great summer!
5/7/2015 2:11:28 PM Hello mellow fellow armadillo skiers and riders. This upcoming weekend on Saturday (May 9 2015) Big Boulder is hosting what's called May Day. For those unfamiliar with this event, it comprises BB amassing the snow that remains on the mountain on 1 trail and setting up a bunch of rails. it'll cost $10 and might go from 9/10-4/6. I don't know the exact time. check the website or wherever online before making the trip. Hope to see you there! (look for the helmet with all the Zumiez stickers on it. can't miss it)
5/1/2015 1:32:13 PM hello everybody. just wanted to let you know that April riding is in at Big Boulder. I went around the 21st on Saturday. Hang on because rumor is they do what's called May Day. Either the 2nd or 9th of May they will push a bunch of snow together and lay out some rails for one last throw down of show downs. fo sho bro. $25
3/4/2015 3:20:38 AM ha, you're probably right about that. I can't wait to crush someone with a pugil stick. Rah! yes, the braces are FINALLY off! I do look forward to seeing Jarhead, but I'm thinking about saving F.M.J. for after boot. don't want to get any wrong ideas in my head. for the record, I awoke at 0400 this morning after hitting the rack at 2000. did like 3-400 squats yesterday and will be doing pushups with a goal of 500. I intersperse them with a game of tetris for every set of 5. (squats was a set of 10)
