10/10/2011 7:53:21 AM I did a quick search and didn't find it on the site, so I have to share: Wolf Creek opened up this Saturday, yesterday and today, and will be open next weekend too. I went up Sat and yesterday and conditions were great. Rode with lots of people from Summit and Denver, as well as the usual northern NM/ southern CO crowd. Powder turns on October 8, and no WROD either. Incredible.
1/30/2011 10:30:47 AM I was riding Taos Friday and at some point one of the screws on my Rome 390 bindings came out. It was the screw/nut/diamond shaped washer that holds the highback. So the binding is basically useless with the highback flopping all around. It must have happened when the lifty slammed the highback down as I was getting on the lift...anyway, didn't notice till I got off. It was kind of a bitch making it back to the base area, ended my day early. Anyone have any Rome parts or know where to get some? These bindings are secondhand and way out of warranty. Just the same, I put in a request to Rome, so we'll see what they say. I just don't want to have rig it with whatever hardware I can find in the garage...
11/15/2010 7:25:19 PM I just got back from Wolf Creek yesterday, the conditions were very nice all things considered. They are keeping their lift tickets at the $31 early season price through next weekend. If there's more snow tonight it could be a good week. Anyway, the mountain is fully open as of today, and it's pretty hard to beat 30 bucks.
11/12/2010 9:17:49 PM Forgot to post earlier, but the Santa Fe ski swap was tonight, also tomorrow and Sunday. Information here: http://globall4u.com/blog/ Cost is 2 bucks to get in for adults.
10/28/2010 2:42:20 PM The Albuquerque ski swap is this weekend at EXPO NM, info below: http://www.nmskiswap.org/NMSkiSwap The Santa Fe ski swap is the weekend of Nov 12-14 at the Chaver center, don't have more info than that.
10/10/2010 10:49:27 AM Hey I was looking on ebay for some used stuff, and I saw this listing: sierra rc boards for $230 on ebay WTF? How can this dude in NJ afford to sell brand new Reverse Crews for that price? The lowest I've ever heard of is $199 and even if he got them for that he couldn't afford to ship them selling them at $230. And he's got every size...smells pretty fishy to me. So is someone scamming the giveaway, or is someone grabbing them right out of the warehouse?
10/2/2010 7:16:52 AM In case this site is not already well known: http://saveonskiing.com/ In NM they have buy one get one free lift ticket certificates for Pajarito and Red River Ski areas. They go on sale Nov. 11th. For NY they have buy one get one free at Dry Hill, on sale right now. Minnesota and Wisconsin are also listed but they don't have any deals up yet.
9/29/2010 1:19:56 PM NM riders, not sure if you already know, but here you go: http://www.nmsportsystems.com/ All this weekend in ABQ.
9/22/2010 7:24:42 PM Is this not kosher in the boarding world? I'm goofy and my buddy is regular. Last season I got tired of waiting for him to strap into his Burtons, while I was ready to go in my Flows. So we traded right bindings, now we both have the Burtons on the front and the Flows on the back. I thought it was pretty f'ing smart, saves me time waiting and I can get my front foot much more snug. But we were both getting some crazy looks for the rest of the season...
9/19/2010 8:09:43 PM Hey East coasters, I'm going to be in Boston for work the first week of December...where should I go boarding? I'm thinking Killington but it's a bit far. Maybe I should just skip the snowboarding and wait til I get back home, kind of a hassle to carry my gear across the country for at most one day.
9/10/2010 5:52:42 AM Hey all, I just started boarding last season, used my buddy's old 155 Nitro (way too small, I'm 6 ft 180 lbs) with Flow Flight 03 bindings. I just got myself the 162 Reverse Crew and looking for some new bindings. I loved the Flows, just worried that with a larger board they might not feel secure/tight enough. I'm looking into the K2 CTC, seems like a nice combo of step in and still can cinch down with the straps. Anyone have experience with these? the reviews are all like 5 stars or 1, not much in between. People either love em or hate em. Advice? http://k2snowboarding.com/bindings/cinch-ctc thanks in advance, C
