2/11/2012 4:34:49 AM Interesting... Haven't heard of any hostels up there... but if there are, I would like to hear about them.  Do you have a pass to Northstar?  If not... it's probably going to be the most expensive place to ride for you.  You could always try to rent a spot by yourself or looking for one room for rent.  Talk to some people with rental ads and try to work a deal for the weeks you will be there.
2/11/2012 4:30:27 AM For waxing yourself... you will need an iron, some wax, and a scraper at the least.  If you do it more often, get yourself some vices to hold your board steady while waxing and scraping.  Then, if you get more into it, get some scotch brite pads and brushes to get everything nice and smooth. Also, I would never just wax my board and not scrape it... just bad habits and laziness if you ask me.   Plus, when riding on icy days, make sure the edges have a nice tune to them.  Take them to a shop or file them down yourself to cut through the ice.

2/5/2012 8:26:54 PM Screw the Super Bowl... Went boarding instead at Northstar.

1/30/2012 7:28:42 PM Note to self... schedule a trip to June and Mammoth Mountains soon.
1/21/2012 9:52:46 PM bump.  No one wants a good deal on a Bataleon board?
1/19/2012 8:22:26 PM You could go to Tap Plastics and get some acrylic or plexiglass sheets cut to size and make your own scrapers. I also like the idea of using putty knives, but they don't seem rigid enough... I may have to try that one out.
1/18/2012 5:29:10 PM I had a season pass to Kirkwood last year and it was an awesome time!!  From Sac I usually took 16 east to 49 then up 88 from Jackson.  Always check the road conditions on 88 before you drive up because it can close if there's a lot of snow.  Try to take a 4WD/AWD vehicle because there isn't much room on that road to put on chains. As for the resort, hit chair 4 to 15 and ride around Fawn Ridge for some fun tree runs.  Also from 4, when you want to get back to the other side, head right off the lift and go over the ridge to drop into Lookout Vista (some good riding here). From The Wall (lift 10) head right and drop down hearts chute or go find waterfall over in Wagon Wheel Bowl. From lift 6 head over to the right again to Sentinel but keep going right and try to traverse over to Palisades for the powder stashes.  They really need to ad a lift over there. As far as partying afterwards, not much around the area.  Best to head to SLT.  But there are good eats at The Kirkwood Inn which is located back on Highway 88 close to the entrance of the Resort. Have fun and be safe on the road!

1/17/2012 1:07:07 PM For me this board was soft from the get go but I was coming from riding a stiffer Burton Custom.  I did notice that it feels softer after riding it more though.  I probably put 20+ days on it... pretty fun board to ride.
