9/26/2014 6:39:28 AM ^^For the right it's all about letting big business do as it pleases in the name of profit. I guess they haven't realized yet that there is money to be made in green energy.
9/25/2014 5:12:59 AM I'm always surprised at the amount of people that think we humans have no negative impact on the earth and that those of us that are earth friendly are only so for some fiscal reason. So many deniers say "I care about the environment", but then have no problem with unregulated businesses doing whatever they want with the planet.
8/28/2014 6:37:37 AM I saw a price of $1500, still too steep for me.
12/28/2012 7:37:10 PM What is all this?
11/13/2011 7:38:33 AM gonna have to tell my brother in law about that, he literally lives within walking distance to bittersweet. It's cool, you can see his house from the top of the hill.
7/15/2011 2:29:30 PM We live SE of Detroit. We used to hit Alpine a lot, but haven't the past few seasons. Holly and Pine Knob are where we usually go in this area. Caberfae is fun, we had a deal on lift tickets a few years back, like $5 or something crazy like that.
7/15/2011 12:59:32 PM I see your point. Find of mountain jobs instead. I can dig it.
7/15/2011 12:56:35 PM Oh, and I noticed the site changed the name of the city that the Opark is in again to homosexual,MI. It's in G a ylord, MI if that will work for TruSnow
7/15/2011 12:52:17 PM http://youtu.be/GuaPr-6Aceg?hd=1 http://youtu.be/hk_M0ZJlANk?hd=1 hopefully those links work. I've seen people post vids on here, but can't seem to get my own to post right. Like the video description says, we're not that great, but we love snowboarding. We don't get much snow in the Detroit area, so we make our own in our postage stamp backyard. And get out once and a while. I think our video from last year, "Hood Lab", has footage from Nubs, the Opark, and I think Boyne Mt. It's up on youtube too.
7/15/2011 7:45:01 AM I'll echo previous statements. Nubs has the best snow in the L.P., followed by the boynes. I would say boyne highlands has more to do than the mountain. Schuss/Shanty is pretty nice and mellow. There's some good wooded areas to mess with at all the above. No one has yet mentioned the Opark in homosexual (sorry, this site changes the city name to homosexual). The Opark has a 22' pipe and jibs for days. If you go to the warren miller flick in the fall they usually give you a buy 1 get 4 free @ the O and a buy1 get1 for boyne. If you're adventurous and have some time on your hands go to Mt. Bohemia in the U.P. 900' untouched backcountry. It's got cliff drops and tree runs galore. Most of the other hills in the U.P. sound to be much like the boynes but steeper. Indianhead, Brule, the porkies and a few other hot spots are up there.
7/14/2011 8:35:36 AM For some people working a mountain is the only way they can get near "living the life". Everyone needs a job. Why not one where you're around what you love the most? I'm curious about your post Alkasquawlik. I assume you worked at a mountain. Was it that bad? My husband is wanting to work a mountain, so I'm curious to hear the horror stories as we've heard some positive stories already.
7/14/2011 8:30:33 AM I used to ski, then I found boarding. Much more fun. And most of the people I board with are in their mid-late 30's. We plan on boarding as long as our bodies will allow.
7/13/2011 1:59:00 PM i hope my husband gets a job soon.
7/13/2011 1:57:20 PM a cheap board (ie- ltd, house, etc) is good for someone that doesn't know if they'll like boarding or even be able to do it. Everyone in our group rode cheap boards the first couple of seasons. Those that dug it upgraded to a new setup. Our son didn't like it much, so we weren't out a bunch of cash when he stopped going. The ride would be the best bet in this case, $5 more and a perfect size fit. Plus, if the kink is anything like the ride dose it's light and flexible, my hubby has a 59w dose and loves it for park stuff.
7/13/2011 1:48:40 PM can't wait to see this one. IMAX?
