7/23/2014 1:42:01 AM I've been advised that a good ski for me to consider is the Madshus Eon. I was told it is wide enough for stability in fresh snow but narrow enough to glide efficiently when touring. Does anyone have any feedback on this?
7/22/2014 2:29:42 AM And if anyone can shed any light on where else to look, any good websites etc, would be greatly appreciated!
7/22/2014 2:27:29 AM Hi everyone. I'm looking at getting into back country ski touring. Looks fun to get out of the resorts. Also, me and my mates like to go ice climbing in back-country areas where we usually have to trek 6+ hours in snow shoes to get to them. Someone suggested that with cross-country skis we could do this in half the time. I have done a bit of research but not overly helpful so far. So the questions: 1. If I'm looking at trekking up (and skiing down) in areas where I would normally have snow shoes (say shin deep loose snow mostly, but some knee deep), what kind of cross country skis should I get? I have seen alot of the thin style, but they seem to be mainly for skating/races on groomed areas etc. Is this right? I would have thought those skinny skis would have trouble going downhill in powder.. 2. If I am going through knee deep lose snow (where even snow shoes sink a bit), will cross country/back-country skis really make a huge difference? We normally take 30 kg packs (66 pounds), apparently we could either still carry these packs or we could put them on a sled. Can anyone shed any light on this? Cheers Dan Byers

9/10/2012 7:23:54 PM I think it would be a lot more fun to focus on filming instead of competition.[/QUOTE] Hell yer, go out and do exactly what you love rather than just proving your the best at something. Ride some first descents and having the balls to go where no-one else will would be a lot more rewarding than winning a gold medal.
9/10/2012 7:19:59 PM Petrol (aka gas) is going up pretty quickly in Australia. What's it doing in the US and elsewhere?
7/2/2012 9:51:18 PM 1. Personally, I'd rather forget who everyone else was, I don't think I could cope with forgetting everything about myself and have to start again from scratch, even if you had people supporting you. 2. I'd super power my hearing I reckon, for me its either sight or hearing (I've changed between the two 4 times so far while typing my answer. I think touch and taste aren't going to be too useful and you can use a dog to track smells so it wouldn't make you that much better than the police guys with their dogs. In the end I reckon being able to see things others can't would be pretty cool but being able to hear someones heart beat or what is being said behind closed doors would be better. And I would lose my sense of taste I think. 3. Definitely would prefer to be to know a lot about everything I think, knowing a lot about everything would be cool at dinner tables and in emergency situations etc. 4. Waterproof and wind resistant tuxedo I think, could still go mountaineering and snowboarding in a tux, and you have to admit that would look cool.
7/2/2012 9:38:45 PM Here's a few new ones for people: 1. Would you rather forget who you were or who everyone else was? 2. If you could make one of your senses a "super sense" which would you pick and why? and alternatively if you had to lose one of your 5 senses, which would you pick to lose? and why? 3. Would you rather know a lot about a little, or a little about a lot? And lastly 4. If you had to wear one set of clothes for the rest of your life, what would you wear? Get creative.
7/2/2012 8:09:49 PM :-D me and my mates have been talking strategy all week. Got 2 way radio's, bit of camouflage etc, its going to be awesome. I reckon scenario and field paintball is so much better than speed-ball.
7/2/2012 8:06:32 PM If you watched the game you know Italy lost because they were out played, not because for the dying quarter of the game they were down one man.
7/1/2012 8:57:14 PM ^^ Agreed!
7/1/2012 8:40:04 PM I have to say the first half was exciting, as much as I enjoy seeing Italy lose (cheating players taking a dive every 3 seconds) would have preferred to see Germany give them a bit more of a run for their money..
7/1/2012 12:37:10 AM I'd take the 3 economy tickets every day. Don't care for the classy shit just love travelling. I'd be happy if it was 3 trips for myself to the same place or if it was to take mates. If its yourself you get 3 holidays so I'd go some place like Japan or Canada and hit the slopes and if you have to take mates, wicked party times and they'd owe you so you'd be drinking for free every day!
7/1/2012 12:32:07 AM Going to a massive campaign style paintball tournament on Saturday (then going to the snow for a week!!) Over 900 people on 3 different sides over a massive area! Going to be hectic!!
7/1/2012 12:30:44 AM Seriously thinking the final won't be anywhere near as good as it could have been. Spain played boring as against Portugal and I hate the way Italy plays.
