3/27/2013 12:21:20 PM Okie dokie! Here it is, the TruSnow Meme contest! Rules: Make an original meme. Post it here. Make it funny. Hint: If I have no idea what you are talking about, you aren't going to win. I decide the winner. Unless I can't decide. If everything sucks, there will be no winner. The contest is over when I say it is. No whining. I can be bribed. All rules subject to change at any time. Bonus Points: Include Allie Ng and/or Mustache George Winner gets this sweet Romex watch that needs a battery. I might dig up some other prizes, too, if things get good. Disclaimer: TruSnow has nothing to do with this. So, don't bother them.
1/30/2013 8:44:40 AM XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX Thank you, George, Allie and the rest of the TruSnow family for our hookups. This was especially great because I've been on crazy ride, and really snowboarding is one of the few things that makes everything a little better. This really lifted my spirits. This isn't something I've talked about in here before but let me fill you in. My wife had a miscarriage in October, which essentially caused a tumor which could or could not have been cancerous. She had surgery to have it removed and had to get blood tests done to monitor it to see if it went away. If it did not go away, they told us she would have to have chemotherapy. So, we got good news right before Thanksgiving that her levels dropped dramatically, so it looked like chemo wouldn't be needed. The blood test continued. Early in 2013 we were notified her levels flattened off, but were still high. Not good. We made an appointment to see the doctor, and he told us she needed surgery again, or had to get chemo. We didn't want to risk the chemo at this point because he said he thought the surgery could take care of it, and the amount of chemo needed would be pretty intense. If the surgery didn't work, we would need chemo, but not as much. Last week she had the surgery and was out of commission for the week, and today I got the news her levels were almost a 0. (Good! ) She still has to go to do blood tests until she is steadily at 0, but things are looking good. So, be thankful for your loved ones and the good times you have! Snowboarding is something that really brings my family together and I thank you for helping to feed our addiction. It's nice to buy snowboard gear instead of paying for gas to Burlington and doctor's bills. I really appreciate all of you. I look forward to helping out however I can and helping to improve the site. I hope also I wasn't too much of a Debbie Downer here with my rant.

How about you guys try to reconnect with us Experts and Educators before this season picks up? In the past we haven't had the most communication flowing our way. What is going on with the site. What is expected of us. How we can make things better. TruSnow community events.  Obviously, those of us who stuck around like something about this place. Let's make it a better place to be. Just a thought.

3/12/2011 1:19:00 PM Check these out! http://powderjets.corecommerce.com/ "PowderJets were created with a simple mission: to handcraft an eco conscious, super fun snowboard to tear up the backcountry.     The idea was to build the perfect snowboard for rugged Vermont mountainsides. Not for resort groomers, but for the real mountains. A board built to surf Hell Brook on Mt Mansfield and the open powder field at Cousin Eddie's, as well as the line you saw out your car window last spring. In short, the perfect east coast powder jammer. We started with the obvious: a rocker profile for speed and float, deep sidecut with a tight radius for quick turns, a set back stance location for stability and nose float. Then we added a slight concave profile to the tail, which makes for a loose, surfy ride, perfect for quick turns in tight trees. The boards measure a relatively short 151 cm, which is also key for maneuvering in close quarters, yet with it's wide nose and set back stance, in powder you'd swear it was ten centimeters longer. The riding experience has been compared to riding a skateboard with loose trucks through the woods, as fast as possible, with no speed wobbles. In a word: fun.   While designing the Powderjet shape, we wanted to give respect to the original wooden boards we began on - the bent plywood ones that half a generation of shred pioneers tooled around on. Snowboard design has come a long way, but does all that technology make new snowboards more fun? Does a P-Tex base covered in flourocarbon wax and a carbon fiber hollowed metal core make you a snowboarder? Those guys in leather boots and wool pants riding bent hunks of plywood, using rubber waterski bindings seemed to be having themselves a pretty stress-free time. Why are we all rushing around trying to prepare for the next winter Olympics, riding snowboards that are made in China using a process employing tons of toxic chemicals?   So, we took what we've learned from the past 30 years of snowboard design, and we brought it into our workshop. We wanted our boards to be simple, and we wanted them to have a lighter footprint on the planet. We use sustainably harvested maple and poplar laminates because they are strong and lightweight. We sandwich these with a bit of fiberglass and some bio-resin, and heat the whole thing up in our custom built press. Each board is then hand sanded and hand finished - one at a time in our workshop in the back hills of Vermont. That's it. No toxic soup. No made in China. Simple."

1/11/2011 6:43:00 PM So, I traded Fostpaint a pair of my bindings for a painting. I just got my painting in the mail and he did an awesome job! I gave the painting to my wife, and she absolutely loves it. I think she liked it more than anything else I have ever given her. If he ever wants to make a similar trade with you, I highly suggest you take it. If you want to get someone a present that is really special, see if he can paint something for you. He is an incredible painter! I will post pictures of the original picture and the painting so people can see he is 2 legit 2 quit. Thanks, Ben!
