1/22/2012 11:33:43 AM I can no longer resist the urge to FINALLY get my 1st day of the season in! I'm jonesin' bad!   I'm daytripping it from Vallejo 2mrw (Mon, Jan 23rd) to use one of my handful of SnowBomb festival weekday vouchers. Forecast calls for a foot & a half from 2nite thru midday 2mrw. Woohoo! Anyone else have any they need to burn thru as well?   Btw, I'll be bumping this thread the rest of the season anytime I plan to ride Bear.
1/20/2012 6:47:32 PM Just so we don't start a thread every time we hear of a deal or discount, I thought it'd be easier if we kept 'em all in here.   Your 1st place to look for this season's Greater Tahoe Area & Central Sierras hook-ups should always be: http://slidingonthecheap.com/deals/all.shtml   There are a couple others they have yet to list, but I emailed them earlier today. Kevin & his crew are usually quick to spread the word, so stay tuned. If they're not updated by next wknd, I'll add the info here.   So if any of y'all come across any goodies like the google offers, etc. that have been posted, chime in here.
11/4/2011 5:03:53 PM I didn't see a thread posted on these, so here goes my friendly reminder about 'em.   San Francisco SnowBomb Ski & Snowboard Festival -- Sat, Nov 5 & Sun, Nov 6   http://www.sfskifest.com/Home.html   Silicon Valley SnowBomb Ski & Snowboard Festival -- Sat, Nov 12 & Sun, Nov 13   http://www.sfskifest.com/Home.html   Sacramento SkiDazzle Snow Show -- Sat, Nov 19 & Sun, Nov 20   http://www.sacsnow.com/   Kick off your 2011/2012 season! I'll be getting both my stoke on & my drink on this Sunday @ the SF show!
9/26/2011 12:25:00 AM Bold prediction of the day: My crystal ball tells me that the 1st day of the 2011/2012 season for the Tahoe area will be Boreal on Thursday, Nov 17th.   After a couple spells of unseasonably warm days in mid-to-late October, it should remain cool enough for snow-making from just before Halloween onward. If we also get the serious precip that's expected for most of November to add to the sustained efforts of the snow-guns, Boreal may actually be able to open on Veterans Day, Fri, Nov 11th.   I promise I will not edit this! The first reply should quote this OP to prove my awesome powers of clairvoyance.
8/19/2011 3:15:54 PM Can anyone offer input re: the Bluebird? I posted my question in this Gear Talk thread last week, but I'm still up in the air on which size to get... http://www.trusnow.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=47047&PID=1073765   Rather than giving your suggestions on this thread, it's probably MUCH easier & logical to provide them there. Plus, they'd likely serve a wider/future audience better in that thread.   Thanks in advance.
2/3/2011 9:28:22 PM So far, none of the usual suspects I roll with want to ride this wknd. And I'm thinking of hitting up Homewood to avoid the typical wknd crowds @ the more-known resorts. I haven't been to this Ma&Pop gem in a few seasons, but I've never been disappointed there. Plus, I'm crossing my fingers that I find those hidden stashes of untracked goodness that can be found days after a storm at the lower-traffic mtns.   Anyone gonna be out there on Sat, Feb 5th? I'm rolling solo from Vallejo.
4/24/2010 10:04:38 AM I thought my SnowBomb lift ticket voucher had gone to waste by not making it to Bear or Dodge last week, but I just found out that Sierra Summit doesn't close until tomorrow. I'm offering it up so a fellow "holic" can get his/her spring-time slide on!   I'm in the Bay Area but will be in Turlock this afternoon & evening!
4/24/2010 9:56:27 AM I left 2 bottles of Sam Adams in a snowbank @Kirkwood yesterday. They are in the small lot just past The Lodge (see map). They are located in the snowbank next to the large blue recycling dumpster that's furthest to the right. This area is just below the set of stairs which lead up to the Village Area. They're in a spot adjacent to the front driver's-side corner of the vehicle parked next to the aforementioned rightmost bin.   Good luck & Enjoy!
3/3/2010 3:09:39 PM **EDIT 3** [updated with sale prices] $150 for the board; $50 for the bindings. **EDIT 3** (11 Dec @2225)   I have a NEVER ridden '06 Burton Dominant 154 and NEVER ridden '06 Burton Custom bindings in Med. My Air Force buddy stn'd in MD asked me to sell 'em for him. I was told that when his Pop was cleaning out a closet last week, he came across this treasure... **EDIT 1** [added these actual pix to replace the "stock" photos I had up before]             **EDIT 1** (4 Mar @1935)   I talked to his Pop & the board still has the plastic sleeve along w/ the price sticker (orig. MSRP $380) & info sticker on the base. The bindings have all the hardware & its box (orig. MSRP $140). My buddy bought the set-up during a trip back to Cali a while back, but wasn't able or forgot to pack 'em up w/ the gear he brought for the trip when living in CO. That said... considering the tech is a few seasons old, but knowing not too much has changed w/ the Doms from 06 to 09 (This year's iteration has stepped up the game to V-rocker & ICS), do y'all think that $250 is a fair asking price for the entire set-up? Just trying to get the most for my friend but not be too unreasonable w/ pricepoint.   **EDIT 2** [updated with sale price(s)] $170 for the board; make an offer on the bindings. Sorry, no trades...only looking to sell. **EDIT 2** (10 Mar @1135)
8/26/2009 1:40:53 PM With the same kinda vibe as TFLN & FML, may I present... http://twitter.com/shitmydadsays Quite a few gems in there! For example, "You need to flush the toilet more than once...No, YOU, YOU specifically need to. You know what, use a different toilet. This is my toilet." Btw, I searched & was surprised it wasn't on here already.
3/30/2009 3:37:42 PM Anyone down to meet up or rideshare out there? I still haven't had a chance to use my voucher, so I'll be rolling out there fr Vallejo around 6-ish. I hope to get there right at first chair. Gonna see how the slush holds up. Crossing my fingers that it don't get too sticky til well after lunchtime.   Hit me up. So far, ZERO spots outta the 3 are taken in my Subie (20-ish MPG). I could drive or we could roll in yours if it's more fuel efficient.
12/31/2008 10:15:21 AM Anyone gonna be out riding Sierra tomorrow? I'm heading up w/ family to get their learn on as well as a couple friends who are much more mellow riders than me. I'd love to be able to get a few heart-pumping runs in w/ a fellow SS.com'er or two so I don't get too bored waiting around for 'em.
4/11/2008 3:22:07 PM According to their websites, email newsletters, etc., here's what I've got so far: already CLOSED (as of Sun, 6 Apr): Dodge Ridge, Homewood, Soda Springs Sun, 13 Apr: Bear Valley*, Boreal, Diamond Peak, Tahoe Donner *BV ends daily operations, but will be open on Fri, Sat & Sun until Sun, 27 Apr Sun, 20 Apr: Mt Rose Mon, 21 Apr: Sierra@Tahoe Sun, 27 Apr: Kirkwood, Northstar@Tahoe, Sugar Bowl Sun, 4 May: Alpine Meadows, Heavenly Sun, 11 May: Squaw Valley (as posted on another online message group) Donner Ski Ranch: I could not find any concrete details re: their last day of lift operations.
4/11/2008 2:45:25 PM i posted this idea a few days ago on the regular giveaway mega-thread.  and since i only got a fellow member's response, i thought i'd reiterate my thoughts here. first of all, KUDOS to y'all @ SierraSnowboard!  i find it amazing that y'all are at this for over 2 months straight!  i'm sure many others share my dread that all these freebies may run their course soon. but if the end is nowhere in sight, then here's the thing... for the past several weeks, the "big-ticket" items, like snowboards, are typically offered on tues & thur.  how about we switch it up to mon & wed one week, then back to tues & thur the following week?  ya know... alternate them. i'm thinking this might help out folks w/ regularly-scheduled commitments & obligations, like classes or work meetings, that keep them fr: having the opportunity to win these highly sought-after & highly valued objects of desire. otherwise, i could just do as recommended by my fellow board member and have someone log in for me.  but i think it'd probably be better if they created their own account and have their own chance at your awesome goodies!  YES!  more exposure!  sounds like a winner to me! anyway, thanks in advance for your time.  and see ya on the hill... only a couple more weeks to go. *sniff sniff*
3/19/2008 6:41:46 PM my buddy fr MD is out here visiting, so we're gonna hit the slopes!  he's originally fr SJ & hasn't ridden in 3 yrs when he moved fr CO.  my other bud & his cousin or co-workers might make it up to ride w/ us on Fri as well. anyone got plans to hit these spots on those days?  it'd be a blast to share some turns & laughs on the hill. and before y'all hate on smallish Diamond Peak... 1) we have a comp ticket voucher & a $10 ticket voucher; 2) i've never been there & have always wanted to check it out on a North Shore multi-day trip; 3) i hear it's usually VERY uncrowded... a plus, on a holiday wknd; and finally 4) it seems like the perfect size place where we won't be beat after riding hard at the Bowl on Day One. *cliff*
