2/13/2010 8:55:58 PM Hi, Just wondering how I would go about lodging a warranty claim on a 2009 158 Burton Malolo.  It's only a month since purchase, has been used for 2 weeks in powder only, by a 60kg rider, and has a whole pile of stress cracks across the top sheet between the inside ends of the ICS channels. I'm in Australia. Trev
2/13/2010 8:44:13 PM Was wondering if anyone else has had issues with the Burton ICS system.  I got my son a 2009 Malolo 158 and after two weeks it already has stress fractures in the top sheet between the inner ends of the ICS channels.  It looks like the aluminum channels increase the rigidity of the board so much that all the flex occurs in the short section between them.  I've compared the flex to my pre ICS Malolo and it's definately weirded out by the channels, they seem to stop the board flexing evenly by acting as stiffeners. I'll probably try for a warranty claim on the cracks, as he's only 60kg and didn't do anything silly on the board, we were riding powder in Japan in the the exact conditions the board was designed for.
1/19/2010 8:08:55 PM For those of you who may be interested, Flow have bought out a base plate to suit the Burton ICS system. http://www.flow.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=487&Itemid=82 But unfortunately they only suit the M, F and H series bindings.  For those with other Flow bindings we'll have to keep using truss headed allen screws through holes we drill ourselves! 10/20/2009 2:26:26 PM Apart from the outrageous price, have you guys ever thought about bringing in the Yonnex Accublade Step in system?.   http://www.yonex.co.jp/snow/0910_si.html I've been riding them for a couple of years (got them in Japan) and they are great.  Real leather boots and engineered aluminium bindings that last for ever.  They make other brands look cheap and plasticky- oh hang on, the other brands are cheap and plasticky and designed to explode after a season.... And it's like having your feet bolted to the board, incredible sensitivity and control, whilst being able to step in and out on the go. Anyway something to think about!
8/3/2009 4:35:54 AM DHL (from Bongo) tried a new one on me the other day, they sent me an invoice for "quarantine inspection" of $47.  Wasn't backed by any kind of paperwork other than a blurry rubber stamp on a copy of the airway bill.  I've never been charged for quarantine on airfreight before ( I used to do logistics for a mining company so I've shipped a lot of stuff into and from Australia) so I rang DHL and hassled them.  They immediately offered to "waive" the fee as it was my "first time", in other words I'd sprung them trying it on!  So watch them, and refuse to pay it. They hadn't even opened the packages, pretty hard to do a quarantine inspection without opening it, especially since customs would xray it anyway, which is why I got even more suspicious than I was anyway. Bad enough being overcharged by Bongo anyway, they set a new record for my latest shipment, charged me for 73lbs and the DHL waybill was for 47lbs in two boxes, and I'm still missing one of the two boxes!
