1/13/2010 12:20:02 PM Alright, so including this past week at Steamboat, I've probably spent 20ish days riding.  The first 6 were spent at the beginner stage, the next 7 were spent with me teaching myself to carve down a mountain, then 3 days on the east coast riding WV and just goofing on, and then the most recent 5 days spent in CO learning to get comfortable with speed and a basic intro to riding switch.   My question is...what to focus on next?   I envision the learning process to be, basics, basic carving, getting comfortable with speed, learning switch, getting comfortable with switch and speed runs, then tricks.   My friend and I were learning to ollie while we were in Steamboat and did some jumps and went down the terrain park but nothing crazy.  So...I ask the good people of sierra...what should I focus on next (I'm leaning towards switch)?
1/9/2010 6:25:14 PM The thing I don't understand is that they all look at the movie Scarface as if it's some sort of italian godsend.  Are they too stupid to understand that Al Pacino played a Cuban in that movie?
1/7/2010 1:27:04 PM And not one of them has a cell phone?
1/5/2010 8:58:29 PM Bought a 158 Sierra Crew and Burton Triads to replace my first board and it arrived Christmas Eve which was great.  Kept it all apart until I got to Colorado on Sunday where I put it together and then went out for a full day and had an absolute blast.  Board was a lot more stable at high speeds compared to my old board and transfered from edge to edge quickly and smoothly.  At this point I feel like my next "step" is to learn how to ride switch (currently goofy) but don't know how to set up the board to help me out.  I had it at +15/-6 but changed it tonight to +15/-15 and have the bindings set up 2 holes from the back of my rear leg and 2 holes from the front of my rear leg.Is there any stance or setup (for the crew) that is best for learning switch or is it one of those "feel it out" things?
1/5/2010 4:06:12 PM Oh yea, gotta LOOOOVVVVVE those texans...Uncle lives in Yampa View and the place is CRAWLING!!!!We went out today for a half day and stuck mainly on the sunshine side doing tomahawk and the surrounding runs...had an absolute blast except the feet are killing me.  Where do you want to meet and at what time?
1/5/2010 8:12:32 AM Got out yesterday and went a full day with my friend.  We had an absolute blast and the snow was great.  Mountain was empty and we went all over the place.  Today we're looking at a half day or just saving our money for tomorrow when the snow's supposed to get here and going out.  Damn texans have overrun the place for the music festival.   Let me know when you're free.EDIT: New sierra crew and burton triad combo i got is great.  Thanks sierra
1/1/2010 6:13:18 AM You want to take a $500+ board which is already selling at 50% to be reduced even more?  Get a away bum.
12/31/2009 1:40:39 PM Yea, uncle said it was coming down and the powder was a welcome change but that the mountain was absolutely crammed.  He said it shouldn't be too bad next week though.  How was it nixed earlier this week?
12/31/2009 11:44:30 AM T-minus 3 days and counting til we land in Steamboat.  My uncle has been taunting me non-stop about the weather and hopefully the snow continues to fall. Shay, I'll stay in touch and hopefully we can find a day for you to show us the ropes
12/25/2009 11:26:10 AM Sierra Crew and Burton Triads came in last night. Gift cards, financial book (great since I'm about to graduate), some clothes, some bandanas, new fly rod.  Had a great time since my sister and I are at school and my dad is currently stationed in Japan while my mom and youngest sister are still in Northern Virginia so my sister can finish school.
12/21/2009 11:18:56 AM Psh, you think those are easy, snakes are easy.My 4' boa is one of the easiest pets to take care of.  Feed her every 2 weeks, change water every couple of days, exchange newspaper whenever it gets soiled, and handle her all the time.  Should be another year or two and she should be at 7-8'. ON TOPIC...definitely what kimchi said.  You need to spend to choose the dog carefully.  Which one is more sociable, inquisitive, playful, nice.  This isn't like March Madness where picking based upon the color of their coat will work.  My parents adopted a Swiss Shepard while they were stationed and Germany and he's a great dog but they need to be walked on a regular basis or just let run.
12/21/2009 11:13:44 AM Can you tell your respective DOT's to tell Virginia DOT how to handle snow?  The 14" or so that we got here in SW Virginia  on Friday pretty much screwed everything up until today.  My parents were trying to leave Friday before it got bad and the roads were already screwed up.  They spent 14hrs and got 15 miles but couldn't turn around b/c the medians were too wide and deep or had steel barricades.
12/21/2009 10:13:41 AM Thanks for the review and your help when I was looking at the board.  Can't wait to try it out in CO in January.
12/18/2009 6:41:59 PM We're supposed to get 18" here at Virginia Tech.  Gonna grab my board and hit up my schools parking lots with some friends.  We don't need no stinkin lifts.
12/18/2009 3:25:15 PM School is out here at VT and the last people trying to leave flooded the streets/highways.  Too bad they're driving little sedans and get stuck in the snow.
