4/6/2010 8:21:09 AM So I have a Get Lifted redemption code here from a B board purchased from Sierra... It means sweet FA to me, cos I can't use it, but perhaps one of you might find some use for it. If you want it, reply with your best joke/story - basically anything that will put a smile on someone's face or make someone laugh. Whichever one seems to be the most popular by consensus will have the redemption code PM'ed to them. -- I like this one: A couple of hunters are out in the woods when one of them falls to the ground. He doesn't seem to be breathing, his eyes are rolled back in his head. The other guy whips out his mobile phone and calls emergency services. He gasps to the operator: "My friend is dead, what can I do?" The operator in a calm soothing voice says: "Just take it easy, I can help. First, let's make sure he's dead". There is a silence, then a shot is heard. The guy's voice comes back on the line. He says: "OK, now what?".
3/18/2010 8:32:10 PM Raider: http://www.sierrasnowboard.com/686-Raider-Insulated-Snowboard-gloves.asp B Gore Under: http://www.sierrasnowboard.com/Burton-Gore-Under-Snowboard-gloves.asp Wondering if you could help me out on this one.. Looking to add a pair of gloves with my next order to replace my current woe ones which seem to have died on me. I was initially leaning towards the Burton Gore Under gloves cos of the inner gore-tex lining and the added inner glove, which is handy. But from reviews and comments from a few people, it seems lacking in durability. If you have them, do you have any qualms? How is the fit, is it true to size according to the sizing chart? So I also came across the 686 Raider - they don't have the gore-tex inner lining, but they have a 15K waterproof/breathable inner lining, which is good enough for me. If you've used them, how do you find them? Again, any qualms? (are they both really comparable to each other, and it's just a case of the old motto - "matter of preference"?)
8/19/2009 2:17:41 AM hey guys, i've been eyeing off the AF Twin as a replacement for my Artifact... mainly cos it's sooo cheap. has anyone ridden one of these? thoughts? mainly hitting boxes/rails/slabs and smaller-medium booters with this, so how poppy/flexible is it? easy to press? but also was interested in how this holds up around the mountain.. especially when you start pushing it at higher speeds? thanks.
7/29/2009 3:12:02 AM As you'll probably know, Sierra gives a free tee-shirt to members after they have accumulated 200 points... I've just recently become eligible for one, but the cost to ship to Aus is waaaay too much for a single shirt. ... so I'm giving it away instead (to someone who lives in the US). I don't want to give it away willy nilly to the first person who replies, but if you can tell me why you deserve a free Sierra Tee, and if the reason's good enough, then I'll be sending it your way - you get to choose the style/size of course. Possible reasons:. You've done something good to others (most likely chance of scoring the shirt). How sh!t hot you'll look hitting your Cab 5's in your new threads.. How sh!t hot it'll look on you whilst pulling off a reverse cowgirl (second most likely chance)... You couldn't be arsed creating 20 new threads to get the points yourself on what shoelaces you should get. I'll be away over the next two weeks (snowbooooarding in NZ) so the winner will be chosen on the 13th Aug, when I get back to Aus. (by the way, this is all predicated on the assumption that it's ok for Sierra to ship your free shit to others). Good luck, and enjoy the free t-shirt.
4/30/2009 8:38:35 PM I've got an auction that I'm heading to tomorrow and I'm a little uncertain of how to approach the auction.. Has anyone here been to an auction, or has experience in the real estate industry? Is it better to wait till the end and bid hard, or adopt some other kinda technique to bidding? My bidding experience is limited to ebay.. where I usually put it in with 10 seconds to go... so any ideas with auctions dealing with residential properties will be greatly appreciated.
4/15/2009 8:42:58 PM Just wondering if anyone has done heliboarding in Queenstown... our crew is heading there in August and a day of heliboarding might be on the agenda. At the moment, we're looking as possibly Alpine Heliski [http://www.alpineheliski.com/] or Wilderness Heliski [http://www.wildernessheli.co.nz/] but if anyone has any recommendations/experience with others, then I'd love to hear it. Especially on any places which are horrid, or exceptional good (particularly in terms of how experienced their guides are).
4/8/2009 3:18:29 AM Yes, another pointless thread. The rules, you state two things about yourself. One of which is TRUE, the other is FALSE. You don't say which one is which. People can guess if they wish, and you can tell them later which is true/false, if you wish. Examples: (can be obvious)? I love snowboarding? I'm an alien (OR outrageous) ? I've been in a threesome? I've been in a foursome I suppose I'll start: ? I have a crush on a girl who posts in this forum? I have a girlfriend -----If you happen to just be ego-boosting (or outright lying) and post two suspicious sounding statements such as ? I've been with 20 women in one night? I've been with 21 women in one night and the community tags you as a LIAR then you'll have to provide evidence, otherwise you and dustinlikestolie can join hands and sing combiya. ------
4/2/2009 12:06:13 AM Hey Sierra staff, this is more of a suggestion than asking a question. I was recently looking at an Analog Deploy jacket and on the day I was checking it out, there was one left in my size before I went to lunch. When I came back from lunch, it had already been bought - it was also the last one (in my size). So I just decided on another jacket instead. I noticed that the jacket is again available in my size, I'm assuming someone had returned it since it didn't fit etc. Can't really speak for other customers, but once I see something as out of stock in my size, I kind of pass over it the next time I view your products.  Perhaps there could be an option where if you're interested in something that is 'sold out' in a particular size, then you can log your interest in receiving an email if that stock is return to Sierra for whatever reason. It could be an automated thing, when the system fires off an email once it has the inventory stock count is positive (i.e. there is at least one in stock). It may also help you guys determine (more correctly) what inventory to hold for the next season, due to the excess demand that can be determined by these email requests. Anyways, it was just a thought that popped into my head. You guys run a smooth operation, and my order was shipped really quick to Aus, so thanks for that. Keep up the good work.
3/28/2009 8:24:30 PM Mainly for Australian riders who plan on hitting NZ this coming Winter. The 2009 Warren Miller tour is heading around Oz in May/Julyish to promote this year's flick: http://www.warrenmiller.com.au/ With this tour, there is a special offer of a buy one, get one free 4 day pass for Queenstown (Coronet Peak/Remarkables) to be used within the 2009 snow season: https://www.warrenmiller.com.au/pdf/2009_LIFT%20TICKET%20OFFER_AU.pdf Wicked offer if you plan on going to NZ for 2009 (which we are). One crap thing is that it's limited to Concrete.. whoops, I meant Coronet Peak and Remarkables (which ain't too bad). It doesn't include Treble Cone and Cardrona, which I am more looking forward to.. Also, if you're planning on car hire (which you will prob have to do, unless you're shipping your 4WD over to NZ) then Hertz usually run a deal where they offer a free one-day superpass (to all Queenstown resorts) for EACH day of car hire. They've done this in previous years, and I'd presume the same deal stands for 2009.
3/25/2009 3:33:39 AM Err.. so this is totally random. And seeing as I haven't browsed these forums for all that long, perhaps someone else has brought this up. But.... the chick who models women's clothing.. this chick: http://www.sierrasnowboard.com/Roxy-Pavillion-Womens-58334.asp is HAWWWWT. Like I said, makes me wanna buy women's clothing. Ok, I'm done with my randomness. Good job Sierra. Marketing at its best.
3/4/2009 7:21:50 PM Hi Guys, Hope everyone is doing well - first posting here and I'm in a bit of a dilemma. I've ordered a Custom 157W - I generally ride all-mountain freestyle and take it into pow when it's there. Hence I thought I could do with the extra width (which is about 1cm more than a regular 156/158). However, (as the subject says) I have size 9 US boots (32 TM-2). Would this still be OK? I am 176lbs, and I ride pretty aggressively, and I don't have issues transitioning edge to edge on my regular 157, which has a WW of about 24.8. The Custom 157W has a WW of 25.8. Will this 1cm make a noticeable difference? Without having the chance to size up my boots on the 157W, my main concern is that my size 9s won't have enough overhang (I want around 1/2 inch) and hence the width of the board will exceed my footprint on the board. I ride +-15 angles, or thereabouts. Thoughts? I would love to hear your opinion on this, especially if you ride a 157W with size 9 (or thereabout) boots!
