12/18/2010 1:10:05 PM I heard through the grapevine that Shaun White lost his season pass ("lost his pass" he was not banned) at keystone today for "disregarding ski patrol" and being a "dick" (notice the quotation: source's words not mine) to lift ops. Lesson: Just because you're famous, doesn't mean you get to treat people like dirt. There are plenty of other pros to come ride. Edit: I have a solid check on its legitimacy, but I will not say who told me because it was in confidence. It happened December 18th, it might take some time to come down the pipe elsewhere and/or it may never be published as its not much of a story. Its more of a reprimand for bad behavior (e.g. slap on the wrist) and it makes interesting news (aka gossip) for people that are used to seeing different pros on their local mountain. Believe it if you want, have whatever opinion you want. Bottom line: be nice to the people that maintain your mountain. Edit: I don't know what the resort is doing about it now, if he is upset (probably not, this happens to riders often enough if they push their welcome), or if it will even make other news outlets. Its just some fun insider news to know that he got flagged for acting like the rest of us. Yes Shaun White rips like fire and takes names, which is why he would be the kind of guy to get in trouble once in awhile. So, no. Don't read too far into this or take it too seriously, but do be nice to lift ops and ski patrol.  They [Patrol] can take anyone's pass and their first duty is to the mountain and the community. Edit: This CAN (not should) be read as the following sensationalist media interpretation: Leading American snowboarder, Shaun White, received a bit of the business when he decided to disregard mountain officials at Keystone Ski Resort. It did not take long for the mountain to become inhospitable to the Olympic lime-lighter after repeated warnings from safety officials went unheeded. Ski patrol grounded the Flying Tomato to set an example for other guest riders at the summit county ski area. One worker is quoted as saying "there are plenty of other pro riders looking for a place to practice and we have the top 10 in slopestyle for the Dew Tour (minus Torstein) this week". It looks like being a dick doesn't mean you are bad at snowboarding, but it sure wont help you on this mountain.
