"Nice resort board" 4/1/2010
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2010 Nitro Team
  • Skill:  Intermediate
  • Use:  Groomed,Jumps,Low Speeds
  • Pros:  Fun to ride!, Good for progressing riders,
  • Cons:  Not great on the steeps,

Experience:   Borrowed this board from a friend and liked it for easy resort riding. It was a little softer than I expected and seemed a little unstable when I wanted to really crank up the speed but I'm not content with high-speed - I like to go Mach 5. The tail was snappy but I'd be wary of landing big jumps on the back end. Decent results in the park, was able to press a bit but jibs aren't really my thing. I would highly recommend this board for an intermediate rider that wants to push a little harder on the in-bounds runs but for steep backcountry lines I'd look for something stiffer.
"Sweet twin" 6/7/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2009 Forum Seeker
  • Skill:  Advanced
  • Use:  Groomed,High Speeds,Jumps,Switch Riding
  • Pros:  Stiff and responsive, Textured topsheet, Fun to ride!
  • Cons:  Not for icy slopes,

Experience:   A nice departure from your average twin-tip - this is no noodle! It's plenty stiff for riding fast and sticking the landings from big air. Very fun to ride: responsive, poppy, good for aggressive all-mountain freestylers. If butters are your thing, get something else (ie Sierra Stunt) - this is for someone who skips the park and can boardslide to 270 cliff drop a fallen tree. I also love the textured topsheet...no stomp pad necessary and very innovative! Also came with two guitar picks which might be useful if you're into that...I play bass so I won't comment on the picks. Loses one star due to lackluster performance on icy runs.
"Holy freaking warmness" 5/16/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2009 Burton Ak Expedition Thermal Top Men's
  • Pros:  Lightweight, Warm, Fuzzy
  • Fit:  Just right
  • My Size:  S
  • Fits Like:  M
  • Description:  Perfect for layering

Experience:   Liked the sleeve and torso length...too often I find clothes fall short in this area. Doesn't add much weight on your back but definitely holds in own in warmth...I was very surprised how toasty I was wearing only this piece. I ordered the small (6', 145 lbs) and it fits decent but is made for adding a thin base layer underneath. Much fleecier feeling than I expected, I wasn't sure what to expect from the material but it's super soft. Might have to order another one because my wife has already claimed it!
"Proper winter gear for women" 5/5/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2010 Burton Veda Womens
  • Pros:  Warm and dry!, Soft liner, Durable

Experience:   Got these for my wife who always has cold hands...suddenly she likes going outside in winter! She loves the deep purple colour (which does darken when you wax it so be sure to coat evenly) and the inside is very soft and comfortable. She hasn't complained of cold/wet hands since she started wearing these and even had to take them off once because her hands were too warm! She says the gold thread detailing looks amazing and the metal zipper really sets these apart from other gloves and mitts.
"Portable toasters" 5/5/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2010 Burton AK 3L Hover
  • Pros:  Super warm, Fast drying, Glove liners included
  • Cons:  Dexterity suffers, Wrist pulls are too small,

Experience:   Warmest mitts I've ever used. Outer shell repels water and keeps the snow out when properly adjusted, inner insulated mitt has a nice soft lining (though if you remove your hands and they get wet, this lining tends to bunch when you put them back on). Fingered glove-liners are also included which helps with the above issue and is a nice addition! The wrist pulls a little small and hard to use when the mitts are on but I can get by. With all three layers worn, the mitts feel thick and it is hard to manipulate small objects with your hands but they are softening up after some use. The Gore-Tex performs well as usual in the mitts, any moisture from intruding snow or sweaty hands is quickly dissipated while riding in any conditions. Very happy with this purchase!
"Best board bag!" 5/5/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2009 Burton Wheelie Board Case Snowboard Bag
  • Pros:  Space for EVERYTHING, Quality zippers & straps, Replaceable wheels
  • Cons:  Heavy,

Experience:   The only bad thing I can say about this bag is that it's a bit heavy even with nothing in it which can cost you when you fly (overweight charges). In exchange for the weight you get the best bag ever. Built to last, wheels for easy transport and pockets for everything. I fit 5 boards, 2 sets of binding, 2 pairs of boots, and both my own and my wife's jackets, pants, mitts, helmets, etc into this bag. We packed this bag full and had only a small carry-on for the rest of our clothes. The boot bags are a nice touch, but all I can really say is how much I have loved this bag for the last two years and how it has lived up to every expectation.
"Merino foot-wrappers" 4/26/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2009 Wigwam Snow Cat Trax
  • Pros:  Merino (is awesome), Fits like a second skin,
  • Cons:  Loose threads,
  • Fit:  Just right
  • My Size:  M
  • Fits Like:  M
  • Description:  Snug

Experience:   This is my first pair of merino socks and like every other merino item I own they do not disappoint. Moisture control, odour-resistant properties, and a great cut all add up to make a great sock. Some people find wool uncomfortable and that's too bad because they are missing out on a great material. These socks are thin - they fit like a second skin and are very comfortable without any bulk - so if you like thick snowboarding socks you'll want to look elsewhere. They keep my feet warm and dry and I'll probably order more soon. I am very happy with the socks but right out of the package I noticed some loose threads thoughout the sock where the coloured pattern merges with the base colour. This worried me initially as I thought they may be cheaply made and start to fall apart. I haven't had any issues yet but will add comments after a few more washes.
"For the athletic geek" 4/26/2010

  • Name: 2010 Sierra Periodic Table Womens
  • Pros:  Sweet graphic, Comfortable,
  • Fit:  Just right
  • My Size:  L
  • Fits Like:  L
  • Description:  Nice cut

Experience:   Snagged this for the wife and she wears it all the time. Comfortable to wear, flattering cut, fits great. Colours really pop (ordered the pink) and the graphics are easy to read. The shirt attracts lots of attention - people always ask about it because it's so unique!
"Bonfire Piper" 4/26/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2010 Bonfire Piper Snowboard Jacket Men's
  • Pros:  Great softshell material,
  • Cons:  Site description needs work, No pit zips,
  • Jacket Fit:  Just right
  • My Size:  S
  • Fits Like:  S
  • Description:  Good fit with room for layers

Experience:   Agree with other reviewers regarding site description. This jacket does not include fine-adjust cuffs. The waterproofing spec is 10k as the spec page shows (description page shows 7k). The goggle pocket has no closure (so it's just a pouch) and the pass pocket is non-existent. The pit zips are NOT mesh-lined which is usually a deal-breaker for me (especially in a $150 jacket). With all that said you might think I hate this jacket but oddly enough I feel the opposite! I absolutely love this jacket - the pockets are minimal but useful and right where they need to be. The softshell material is possibly the best I've ever had, and the Citron colour is amazing (nearly glow-in-the-dark)! This isn't a tech-ed out jacket with more features than you need but a super-comfortable stylish unit that can hold its own when the weather gets a little sour. The hood fits great and turns with your head (awesome for biking) and the high collar is keeps out snow and wind. The fleece is a little thinner than I expected...it's warm if I keep moving but I get a little chilled wearing a t-shirt base when the wind starts gusting to 50km/h. Overall an excellent jacket that loses a star for no mesh on the pitzips.
"Bonfire Endless Jacket" 4/26/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2010 Bonfire Endless Snowboard Jacket
  • Pros:  Asym zipper!, Good pockets, Metal zipper
  • Cons:  Fit around shoulders, Zipper doesn't stay closed,
  • Jacket Fit:  Too big
  • My Size:  M
  • Fits Like:  L
  • Description:  A bit loose in the shoulders

Experience:   Outer material feels great, inner fleece is soft though my wife prefers fleece all the way down the arms when wearing a t-shirt. This jacket fits my wife great around the hips but looks a little sloppy (kind of Burton-ish Team fit) in the shoulders/chest unless she is wearing a thick hoody underneath. She likes the mobility so it's not necessarily a bad thing, just don't mistake this for a form-fitting cut. The zipper has a tendency to unzip itself when the collar snaps are not closed - though this is probably because the high-quality metal zipper is probably the smoothest zipper I have ever used! The jacket functions well: it is warm in mild temperatures and light wind, and remained nice and dry during a long walk home in the rain. My wife loves the jacket, though I wish it had a bit more style to the cut. As a softshell it performs very well but a couple minor annoyances add up to an average score...I would give this a 3.5 if you could do half-stars as it fell just short of 4.
"Excellent socks" 4/26/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2010 Burton Scout Womens
  • Pros:  Feels great, Vibrant colour, Quality material
  • Fit:  Just right
  • My Size:  M
  • Fits Like:  M
  • Description:  Nice and snug

Experience:   Purchased these socks for my wife...they fit her great, she loves how they look and says they are very warm and comfortable. Material and construction is top notch! One thing to note is that these are very thick socks - my wife loves this but I prefer thin socks so it's worth a mention.
"A little baggy but nice" 3/5/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2009 Special Blend Toofer Snowboard Pants
  • Pros:  Waterproofing,
  • Cons:  Boot gaiters could use a bit more elastic,
  • Pant Fit:  Too big
  • My Size:  M
  • Fits Like:  M

Experience:   I'm more or less between sizes so I sized down to a Small for a less baggy fit. The removable liner is nice, though I can't imagine riding without it (and usually add another layer or two) but it's usually -35C when I'm riding and very windy. Pockets are well placed with good zippers and tabs. Waterproofing has held up well. I removed the waist gaiter as I found it annoying (zips out). Overall a great pant.
