"Flow Flite 3" 12/29/2009
Helpful Review?   (4) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2010 Flow Flite 3
  • Pros:  Fast strap in/out, lightweight,, Very comfortable for wide foot riders, No more toe/ankle pains
  • Cons:  Can be difficult to find perfect setup, May not work well with all boots, Attention
  • Flex:  mid

Experience:   They are a pain to setup and will take time getting used to strapping in, but only because I am used to standard ankle and toe-strap bindings. Just two days on the mountain and I feel like I found the easiest way to strap in. Drop down on toe-edge and knees, stomp in back foot, and snap in the backplate. They are harder to get boots in when dry due to friction. On the mountain, it's a different story. The pressure is well distributed around my entire foot, which was a big problem with my old Ride LX bindings. I have wide feet which creates extra pressure and pain on my pinky toes using standard toe straps. Flow Flite 3 bindings have not had any boot slip problems typically found in Burton toe-cap setups. I was looking for comfort first and weight second in my new bindings. The Flow Flite 3 are very comfortable and much lighter than my old Ride LXs. * Those having problems with responsiveness from these bindings - make sure you adjust the lean on the backplate. ** Boots with large or wide heels may have problems fitting in these bindings. *** POM Plastic (see Wikipedia) material still scares me. Chlorine has been known to weaken the material, so do not expose them to tap water. So far they feel tough and durable. 4 stars out of 5 due to material.

****UPDATE: I saw a video on YouTube about the Flow Team bindings that shattered on a rider. The baseplate material was constructed of magnesium. Which actually has a chemical reaction when submerged in water (see Wikipedia); "When it is submerged in water, hydrogen bubbles will almost unnoticeably begin to form on the surface of the metal, though if powdered it will react much more rapidly. The reaction will occur faster with higher temperatures (see precautions)." Knowing this, I feel more confident in my purchase of the Flow Flite 3 bindings and wish I could change the review score to a 5 out of 5.

"Argreed - OUCH" 12/13/2010
Helpful Review?   (2) Yes    (3) No

  • Name: 2011 DC Scout BOA Snowboard Boots Men's
  • Pros:  Boa lacing system, sub-$200 boots,
  • Cons:  Heel sticks out too much, Destroyed my ankles, Poor comfort design
  • Fit:  soft
  • Flex:  mid
  • Shoe Size:  10
  • Boot Size:  11

Experience:   These boots hurt. After a day of riding I have bruises on the inside of both ankles. These boots feel like they are sized for women or kids. I tried these boots on at the store before buying and they felt a bit tight around my pinky toes. There was no noticeable pressure on my ankles, not until they were on my feet after several hours on the mountain. The heel on the DC Scouts seem to stick out more than my previous boots, 2010 Salomon Faction (same size). I wiped out several times on the mountain before figuring out that my heels were touching the snow causing me to sit down at high speeds. I have tried to re-seat my bindings to accommodate the extra heel drag, it helped a little but I still have issues on my heel side because of these boots. I do not recommend these boots.
