"Tangoing with the Foxtrot" 1/8/2011
Helpful Review?   (3) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2009 Sessions Foxtrot Stripe Snowboard Jacket
  • Pros:  Sizing/Fit/Comfort, Colors,
  • Cons:  Only 5k Waterproofing/Level 4 warmth, Only Critically Taped Seams,
  • Jacket Fit:  Just right
  • My Size:  L
  • Fits Like:  L
  • Description:  Absolutely perfect

Experience:   Received the Sessions Foxtrot Jacket (Krypto Green Stripe) as a present for Christmas from my GF, who thought the colors matched my Sierra Crew Animal Hybrid and Rev Crew 155 perfectly. With that, I was absolutely stoked when I opened it. Although this jacket stems from the lower rated Terrain Series, you'll never think this was a bottom line jacket. The craftmanship is first class, as is all Sessions gear along with their price point. For the price, this jacket exceeds all expectations and I would easily pay more any piece of Sessions gear since this is my 3rd piece I own and each one far exceeds its retail price tag. I have this jacket in Large and it fits perfectly for my short and stocky frame (5'*/178 lbs). I can wear either a medium or large in almost anything but often find each is either too small or way too big. This jacket fits a little baggy but not gangsta. The colors pop and the material is soft and subtle without that rubberized or plastic feeling. The waterproofing exceeds the 5k rating just like my Achilles pants and it is so comfortable I hardly notice I am wearing a jacket at all. If you are looking for a really good piece of gear at a great price, don't hesitate to jump on the Foxtrot...you won't be diappointed. I rated it 5 stars because this jacket is just PERFECT in so many ways. The only downfall may be some of the stitching on the interiror, like the goggle pocket which appears will come apart after a few runs...and that is the only negative.
"Electric EG2.5's: Size Doesn't Matter...Does it?" 10/12/2011
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2011 Electric EG2.5 Goggles Men's
  • Pros:  Great Field of Vision, Nose relief, Small-Mid Size Face
  • Cons:  Straps,

Experience:   Have been on a quest for some time looking for a pair of goggles that not only fit my small face structure but one that offers a great field of vision and enough space to pair with prescription glasses. Enter the EG2.5's.....finally a goggle that can do it all for this type of client. The lenses are great, not as good as Oakley, but the offer minimal fogging. Opted for a second Orange-Silver Chrome lense for cloudy & snowy days and what an awesome lense. The only negative I find is the size/length of the straps...a very tight fit for my Bern helmet. Rated a 5 solely because it has offered me everything I am looking for!
"2010 Flow Ansr (Lace)" 10/10/2011
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2012 Flow The Ansr BOA Coiler Snowboard Boots Men's
  • Pros:  Width, Width & Width, Heal Cup, Packed Out Nicely
  • Cons:  Durability: Fraying along toe box, Wide Profile, No Heat Molded Liner
  • Fit:  stiff
  • Flex:  mid
  • Shoe Size:  10.5 EEE
  • Boot Size:  10

Experience:   I bought these boots at an extremely low price on line after trying on over 20+ pairs in several shops. To be honest, I could not be happier. This boot is a no non-sense performer that won't break the bank. Better yet, for those suffering from elephantitis like me and have feet as wide as the Grand Canyon, look no further. These boots provide exceptional comfort, ease of use and pack out beautifully. I have no pinching, binding or pressure on these bohemeth feet of mine. In addition to their wide profile, they have great heel cups and I have not suffered any slippage whatsoever. The flexibility is awesome and this boot can go anywhere. Now to the negatives: The wide profile causes compatibility concerns with some bindings, specifically Union Contacts which are a very tight fit. The nylon exterior suffers from some fraying along the toe box, created by the board edge resting on top of the boot while on the lift. This model also did not offer a heat molded liner nor is it the warmest boot on the market. However, I have never had any dampness issues and have rode this boot 5 straight days on the Ice Coast in very wet conditions. A must for the financially conservative!
"Airblaster Airpill Stomp Pad" 11/13/2011
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2012 Airblaster Airpill Stomp Pad
  • Pros:  Size....., Width, Color scheme blends well...
  • Cons:  Materials....resin may be slippery, depth....may trap too much snow,

Experience:   I purchased this pad to change things up from my normal stomp pad...the OBJ Chineese Stars. The reason for the change was I wanted a pad that provided a signifcant amount of more coverage and a little bit more width so I could just place my foot without thinking about positioning it. This pad does exactly what I thought and the black/clear color scheme blends exceptionally well into the board's profile. The pad is very clean looking but the poly-resin worries me that it may feel slippery when tracked out with snow. The edges are tight and grip is responsive.
"Ultimate Beginner Board" 10/13/2011
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2010 Sierra Stunt Snowboard
  • Skill:  Intermediate
  • Use:  Boxes,Jumps,Rails
  • Pros:  Super soft, flexible, Extremely durable base,
  • Cons:  Very minor delamination,

Experience:   I bought this board for my son (147) and after spending 3 days on it, I want one so badly... This board rocks! It is the ultimate toy. Each time I am on the darn thing I find myself doing or attempting something new. At first I though it was due to the mere size but I soon realized this board allows me to butter, press and pop like no other. Since I consider myself an all-mtn kind of guy I stayed away from this deck but just fooling around on it has completely changed my mind. I can charge pretty hard with it but crud does present some problem. Fresh groomers and some fine powder makes this thing excel. If you are a new boarder and want somethig that you can learn and progress on...look no further. Nothing sucks more than enjoying a new found love and only wanting something better...so why suffer now when you can have the ultimate toy!
"Sierra Union Contact SL" 10/12/2011
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2010 Union Sierra Contact SL
  • Pros:  Soft flex, Super comfy straps, Adjustability
  • Cons:  Toe Strap (for large boxes), Loose hardware,
  • Flex:  soft

Experience:   My first endeavor with Union Bindings and after flirting with other manufacturers, I won't ride anything else. My Sierra Contacts offer me phenominal contact with my boards, whether its hitting the park or icey groomers. What I love best about these binders is the laterally tweaking I get when initiating turns, presses and spins. It's as if the binding actually anticipates what I am going to do. While other bindings appear well connected but completely movement free, I personally prefer the lateral and torsional flex I get from these. One thing to consider on the negative side is for those who own boots with large toe boxes. The toe strap on this model is best paired with a small profile. If anyone has the chance to score these second hand since they are no longer produced....I wouldn't hesitate to buy these. On a side note, the hardware does seem to come loose at times but nothing a little plummers tape didn't cure. A great binding that has been problem free for 2 years!
"A Reverseal of Fortune" 10/10/2011
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2010 Sierra Reverse Crew Snowboard
  • Skill:  Intermediate
  • Use:  Groomed,High Speeds,Low Speeds,Off Trail,Switch Riding,Ungroomed
  • Pros:  All-around Board, Fast, Fast, fast, Great off-piste deck
  • Cons:  Very Slick Topsheet, Nicks easily, A little surfy on ice

Experience:   I have had the pleasure of owning several boards in my 3 short years of boarding and I must say that this deck is my unquestionable favorite. It's soft enough to play around on, stiff enough to hit the well manecured groomers of the Ice Coast and offers enough rocker to be a treat in powder. I have had this board for two seasons and although I am a typical gear whore, the one thing I won't do is get rid of this deck until its unserviceable. In fact, I love this deck so much I may buy another just to have when this one is thrashed. The only downfall I have on this board is the top sheets' durability. It scratches easily and suffers edge dings at will...but these are minor cosmetic blemishes that add to the life of this board. The graphics are subtle and suit my middle aged eye better than most graphics being used....The base is very durable but I do find myself waxing more frequently than my other decks, but that could just be because I ride it a hell of alot more too! Look, 40 trillion positive reviews should convince you to buy this deck....not me! I am just an old man who loves to shred...and this board provides me with the most fun! It's as simple as that!
"Un-leash the Beast" 10/10/2011
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2010 Sierra Crew LTD Animal Hybrid
  • Skill:  Intermediate
  • Use:  Groomed,High Speeds,Low Speeds
  • Pros:  Solid, solid performance, Semi-Stiff, Ice Carving Machine, Fast....rediculously
  • Cons:  Edgy, Scratches easily,

Experience:   I bought the Crew Animal Hybrid when it was reduced to a rediculously low price and subsequently paired it with a Rev Crew for a nice beginner quiver. This board rocks! As much as I love the playfulness of the RC, the Crew allows me to just bomb anything. From Diamonds to Green and everything in between...this board does not disappoint. Certainly for a more advanced rider in my opinion and loves to get on edge. Can eurocarve with the best of them and no looseness underfoot. Fights crud and powder effortlessly. Living in South Carolina, I cannot speak for how it handles powder but its the ultimate groomer slayer. Treats ice as if its a fresh morning dusting. The only thing negative is that the top sheet is piano black and suffers from scratches very easily. About broke a skiers neck when he slid his tips across my top-sheet the first time in line. Softens up nicely after 3 or 4 days....
"2011 Nike Zoom Force 1's." 10/10/2011
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2012 Nike Zoom Force 1 Snowboard Boots Men's
  • Pros:  Extremely Comfortable, Flexibility, Technical Features
  • Cons:  Very Narrow Fit, Heel Cup,
  • Fit:  soft
  • Flex:  mid
  • Shoe Size:  10.5EEE
  • Boot Size:  N/A

Experience:   I purchased these on-line at a great value primarily going off of other Rider Reviews! I will say that had these boots fit, I would be riding this coming season. Unfortunately, if you ar elike me and have an extremely wide foot...do not look into these. The profile is very narrow. It is truly unfortunate because I could tell from the moment I put them on that these are one of the finer made boots I've tried. I rated this boot a 5 even though it is not for me because for those with normal feet, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend these boots. For those wondering why I wouldn't wait for them to pack out...there is no way I could wear this boot for more than a couple of minutes without feeling extreme pain. Please realize this is only due to the width and not the interior design, which is one of the best made boots out there. The materials, flex and features is phenominal. The only downfall I found was even though the boot was very narrow, the heel had considerable slippage. Overall, an excellent boot and if Nike ever decided to widen the profile of their boots (and shoes for that matter) I would buy again in a heartbeat!
"686 Mannual Motion Snowboard Pants " 10/3/2011
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2010 686 Mannual Motion Snowboard Pants Men's
  • Pros:  excellent waterproofing out of the box, extremely durable (cuffs included),
  • Cons:  Buttocks area could be a little looser, waterproofing dissolves after a couple of washings,
  • Pant Fit:  Just right
  • My Size:  L
  • Fits Like:  L
  • Description:  These pants fit true to size and are very similar to regular clothing

Experience:   I own several pairs of 686 pants, including the Manual Alloys and Original Cargos. Of all their offerings, I prefer the fit and warmth of the insulated Alloys but these are a very inexpensive alternative and prove to be excellent for early or late season riding. All 686 pants offer incredible durability against snags and rips, and the cuffs prove worthy even without drawstrings risers. Very compriable to Sessions equipment but may wear a little thicker. The Manual Motions fit excellent and are not too baggy or too tight. The drawback is the buttocks area could stand a little more room.
"Chukka" 1/26/2011
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2011 Vans Chukka Low Skate Shoes
  • Pros:  Style/Looks, Quality Build, And did I say stylish...
  • Cons:  Runs small too size!, Width,

Experience:   I purchased these at a rediculously low price. Even though I am not a skater anymore, these shoes look sweeeeet! The black suede mixed with the brownish/orange leather makes for a great every day'r! Have rec'd more compliments wearing these then with any show in a long time. The grip is phenominal, especially in bad weather. The tongue is super comfy as well, feels thicker than it really is. Profile is really low. The only downfall is that these run about a 1/2 to whole size smaller than others, and they don't seem to have the width that other skate shoes have. Overall, true awesomeness!!!!!!!
"Rogue Worthy Vision" 1/26/2011
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2010 Dragon Rogue Goggles
  • Pros:  Extremely Comfortable, Anti-Fogging, Prescription Lense Worthy
  • Cons:  Strap Replacement,

Experience:   This is my third set of goggles, Black w/ Coal Standard Lense, and although these aren't the raddist pair on the mountain, they simply perform. I have a sm/med face size and the med/lg frame on this fits perfectly. No nose crush and enough room to wear my prescription eyewear underneath...something most goggles just don't do. The anti=fogging is right up there with the best from any company's top performer. Excellent alternative lenses for day/night options. The only downfall is the design of the straps, which rides kind of low on the head and sits funny with a helmet. Strap replacement is also difficult to find. Excellent buy and definitely recommend.
"BAG O' CONCERNS" 1/19/2011
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2010 Sierra Sleeve Snowboard Bag
  • Pros:  Simple, Large enough for any board, Adequate storage for transport
  • Cons:  No padding, Zipper concerns, One size

Experience:   I received this bag as a present from my GF after she saw me come back from my first session of the year with two scratched up boards. The bag is designed with a minimalistic approach. For a former SS product I was a little disappointed in the quality since every other product essentially is perfect. The bag is most suited for protection when going on long vehicle trips vice air. Here's hoping it last a while although the zipper design worries me. Like others, there are better bags out there.
"DROP EM'" 1/17/2011
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2008 Drop MFM 2
  • Pros:  Super Comfortable, Really Warm, Grip
  • Cons:  Quality, Long Fingers, Velcro Closure

Experience:   I bought the Montoya Gloves at a rediculously low price and having heard Drop Gloves are the dope...Two days on the mountain and I would have agreed with this statement; however, Day 3 saw my gloves completely rip open at the seams. For the most part, these gloves are great. They are super comfortable, extremely waterproof and warmer than most. However, I question the Quality Control unless I just gotta a lemon pair...which happens with anything. What I don't like is how the fingers are really long, which can produce icing in the finger-tips. The velcro closures are small so they can open unexpectantly with a little ice build up. Cannot comment on the warranty as of yet...but these are going back. Will gladly take an exchange hoping they'll have better craftmanship b/c it's a really sweet glove..
"Sweeeettttt arse Jacket!" 1/10/2011
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2010 DC Spectrum Snowboard Jacket
  • Pros:  Great Design, Style, Simplicity
  • Cons:  Lack of Pockets, Fit, Ventilation
  • Jacket Fit:  Too small
  • My Size:  M
  • Fits Like:  M
  • Description:  Size up on this one.....

Experience:   I bought this jacket for myself and another for my son. I have all black while my son has the green & blk striped version. This jacket is really sweet. The design is very simple...Hoodie-esque so t speak. Unfortunately, this is also a detriment in that there really isn't any pockets for your mobile gear or accessories. The jacket has very little ventilation and doesn't breathe all that well...but it handles itself well and can open up very easily when necessary. The material feels platiclly but offers great waterproofing. I got a ton of comments on it because it's so simple by nature...heck, a lot of people didn't think I was wearing a bording jacket at all. Probably a great spring jacket when all you want is a t-shirt underneath.
"A SPLICE of Heaven" 1/10/2011
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2011 Oakley Splice Goggles Jet Black/Black Iridium
  • Pros:  Great Fit/Extremely Comfortable, Lense Options, Looks
  • Cons:  No Asian Fit,

Experience:   In the past year I have bought two pairs of really cheap goggles hoping one of them may be sufficient for my limited use considering I don't particularly care to wear goggles while riding. Big mistake since both really suck. Invest in good quality goggles and you'll be set for a long time with a little care. I have a medium sized face so these fit well but they do not fit smaller faces at all and there is no asian fit option on this model.
"Light Weight, Spring Day Beanie" 1/8/2011
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2011 Oakley Clean Stretch Beanie
  • Pros:  Light Weight, Loose,
  • Cons:  Holds Moisture,
  • Fit:  Too big
  • My Size:  M
  • Fits Like:  L
  • Description:  Loose fit with excess material on top...

Experience:   Got this beanie as a gift from my kids...love the style and looks but it fits a little too loose for my liking since I prefer a snugger fit, especially around the ears. The looseness promotes the material riding up above my ears while riding, which I am one of those that when my ears get cold, everything gets cold. This beanie is ideal when wearing for normal use, not physical activity. It also has a lot of material on top...giving it that condom look I hate...
"Dakine Nitrous All Temp Wax" 1/8/2011
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2010 Dakine Nitrous
  • Pros:  Applies easily,
  • Cons:  smell,

Experience:   Bought this wax in Ashville the night before my first session of the year. Applied it to two Sintered Base Boards. This wax melts very easily at lower and hotter temp settings on an iron, unlike my ABJ, which takes a few minutes to get going. This wax also doesn't burn eaily when applying; however, it does smell awful. As far as how it produced, it seemed to soak into the base really nice and excess was minimal during both the scraping and brushing process. The wax did a great job in icy conditions; however, it appears I'll have to reapply about every 3 sessions vic ethe 5 I get out of the ABJ. For the price, not a bad wax and it can be found in almost any ski shop.
"These Achilles are not your typical Heel!" 11/25/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2010 Sessions Achilles Snowboard Pants
  • Pros:  Perfect lining for Spring/Light Weather Riding , Overall Weight / Comfort,
  • Cons:  No zip-in waist gaiter, Durability,
  • Pant Fit:  Just right
  • My Size:  M
  • Fits Like:  M
  • Description:  Absolutely perfect!

Experience:   I purchased these pants originally as a cheap alternative to current year/overpriced options. Secondly, these were meant for an alternative option during the beginning and late season riding. To my surprise, these may be the best pants I own. I am 5'08/180 punds. The mediums fit perfect for my athletic build. They are light weight and extremely comfortable, and they fit like a regular pair of pants vice the gangster look most typically wear. The drawstring leg risers are an added plus during mud season and the liner may be the best I've seen. Simply put...a steal. Definitely recommend.
"Very Cheap Alternative" 11/12/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2010 Giro Verse Snowboard Goggles
  • Pros:  Inexpensive, Clear Lenses, Ideal for Small Faces
  • Cons:  Fogs Easily, Poor Foam, Nose Pinch

Experience:   I purchased these on a trip last year when I left my daily's in the hotel. Considering I paid about $25.00 for the pair it did the trick; however, I had continuous fogging issues and moisture gathered inside as well. The lense was fairly clear when I could see. These fit rather small on the face and are not in any way precription eyewear friendly.
