"nice and warm" 4/12/2010
Helpful Review?   (2) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2010 Burton Restricted Dyer Snowboard Jacket
  • Pros:  warm, waterproof, lots of pockets
  • Cons:  hood does not fit over my helmet, no mesh under armpit vents,
  • Jacket Fit:  Just right
  • My Size:  L
  • Fits Like:  L
  • Description:  this jacket is loose, but not baggy. perfect fit such that I didn't even notice it

Experience:   The fit did seem large at first, but once I velcro the cuffs and cinch the waist it is perfect. The gater zips to burton pants, and did a great job keeping the snow out for all the time I spent wiping out. The hood does not fit over my helmet, but it is warm and covers well when not wearing a helmet. Also this model comes with patches sewn on that kind of give it a punk military style. It is thick, warm, and a bit puffy. I wore thermals and a t-shirt underneath when the temperature was mid-30s, and I was very toasty while boarding. Arm pit vents do not have a mesh cover underneath. It is just wide open. This could be a con if you wipe out with them open and fill up with snow. It could be a pro because you can cool down really fast.

  • Name: 2009 Giro Shiv Signature Series Featuring Tune Ups
  • Pros:  good coverage to protect skull, warm ear flaps, upgradable sound system
  • Cons:  looks like Spaceballs,

Experience:   This helmet does feel great and keeps my head warm. The chin strap is padded for comfort, but if you don't buckle it then the helmet will bounce off your head when you fall. The ear flaps are warm, and allow for the audio upgrades if that is your thing. It comes with a magnetic clip for your goggles, and this makes a strong connection in the two available positions for it. When my helmet fell off my head (as mentioned above), the mag-clip did not fail. My Giro Root goggles fit very well with this helmet. It feels like a solid shell, but I haven't given it a true crash test yet.

  • Name: 2009 Special Blend Struggle Bandana
  • Pros:  prevents windburn & sunburn, keeps face warm,
  • Cons:  can become wet and cold,

Experience:   This works just like how I expected. It saved my face from harsh winds and glaring UV. When working hard I started breathing harder and it became damp and warm. This isn't a big deal, but once I stopped it was just cold and damp. That is still way better than nothing, and is true for all bandannas. The white/grey tonal color looks cool too.

  • Name: 2009 Giro Roots Goggles
  • Pros:  spherical lens, comfortable, good ventilation

Experience:   This goggle fits very well with my Giro Shiv helmet. They are comfortable enough that I forgot I was wearing them. Mirrored lenses mean no one can tell where you are looking. It never fogged up on me even when I breathed up into it through my bandanna. The spherical lenses really do make a difference in the periphery.

  • Name: 2010 Burton Cargo Snowboard Pants Men's
  • Pros:  waterproof, comfortable, style!
  • Pant Fit:  Just right
  • My Size:  L
  • Fits Like:  L
  • Description:  good fit and loose in the legs, but not too baggy

Experience:   wear thermals underneath if it is cold. When wearing thermals and Red Impact shorts underneath the fit is still loose and comfortable. Lots of pockets (zippers on front pockets are great), gater connector for jacket, good thigh vents. Wash instructions are picky: cold water with powder detergent only, hang dry. Also will probably need to spray on water proofer after a number of washings.
"broken in perfect" 4/18/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2009 Burton Jeremy Jones
  • Pros:  comfort, manual laces, good heel grab
  • Cons:  manual laces,
  • Fit:  mid
  • Flex:  mid
  • Shoe Size:  11
  • Boot Size:  11

Experience:   Before break in the boot sometimes felt stiff and my foot would go numb on the first run of the day. After a moderate amount of break-in, this is so comfortable that I barely notice that I am wearing anything. The flex is definitely there, but it is not mushy. Control is not inhibited by the flex at all. I didn't want to go with manual laces, but I bought these anyway, and now I am glad I did.
