"No Grip" 4/15/2010
Helpful Review?   (7) Yes    (1) No

  • Name: 2005 Dakine Snowboard Stomp
  • Pros:  cheap,
  • Cons:  Large, Unappealing, Gripless

Experience:   This pad is classic looking, therefore not too appealing which is something im ok with. however, the design of this pad was a failure; the holes punched into the pad gives you no grip as ice build on your boots. not recommended

what's the point of a stomp pad that doesn't grip. no one wants to slip standing on their board and wind up with a binding in your ass. Trust me.

"Awesome but HUGE" 4/16/2010

  • Name: 2010 686 Mannual Reaper Insulated Snowboard Jacket Men's
  • Pros:  waist guard, warm pockets,
  • Cons:  no internal zipper-pocket, no lift-ticket hook,
  • Jacket Fit:  Just right
  • My Size:  M
  • Fits Like:  L
  • Description:  Huge

Experience:   I ordered the light grey from sierra because the red was out of stock. Sierra didnt provide sufficient info. about this jacket. It is huge! I am 5'6 @130lb. I normally wear medium and ordered small after reading the reviews here; however, it fits like large! But i think that is ok for snowboarding... I am in awe with this jacket because it has this internal guard that wraps around your waist. This helps to prevent snow from getting into your clothes when you fall and glide on your butt. the pockets are specially made to be warm for your hands. It disappoints me a little, because there isnt a zipper-protected internal pocket, where you can safely store you phone. There is an ipod pocket and a button-protected mesh pocket though. also, there isnt any external hook for lift tickets, which can be a bit inconvenient for snowboarding.
"very convenient" 4/20/2010

  • Name: 2010 Flow M9
  • Pros:  convenient in&out, buckles on both sides,
  • Cons:  paint chips off,
  • Flex:  mid

Experience:   I ordered the bindings on Sierra and received it within 3 days, was very happy. Unlike other bindings, the Flow M9 has a very different way of releasing the buckle of the strap. Instead of having a different button for release, you basically bend the strapping-buckle in the opposite way to unstrap (but you need to do it very hard, and that causes the paint on the buckles to chip off quickly). It took me about 10 minutes to figure that out. Also, the M9 has buckles on both sides, allow the top leather/fabrics to fit on your boot comfortably. In the back of the calf rest, there is a convenient snaplock. You can simply unsnap it off the calf-rest to get in and out of your bindings. this makes your strapping really easy and quick, the downside though, is having to wait for your buddies. Also, I wonder if this snaplock is durable...
"comes off" 4/15/2010

  • Name: 2010 Dakine Cross Studs
  • Pros:  nice looking,
  • Cons:  comes off easily,

Experience:   the appealing thing of this pad is its size. however, it is too small that it doesnt provide enough surface area for adhesion to the board... comes off quite easily
"very good looking + comfortable" 3/13/2011
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2009 Giro Roots Goggles
  • Pros:  extremely good looking, comfortable + light weight, protective
  • Cons:  doesnt fit asian noses well, fogs up a bit,

Experience:   Since my previous review for this product was marked as spam, im goin to write a more detailed review for this. I have the white one. I received alot of compliments from my friends (guys + grls) for its good look. it looks much bigger + better when cuffed on your face. the foam lining makes this pair of goggles highly comfortable. the cushion it provides is extraordinary that it somewhat protects you from head injuries. as a 2nd year snowboarder, i attempted a jump but ended up landing on my face (without any helmet); thankfully the first point of contact to the ground was my goggles, which provided alot of cushion and absorption of shock. I then landed on my chest. my lungs were so painful that i couldn't breathe for at least 5 seconds. i truly do believe the goggles saved me from a concussion, if not a head trauma! the goggles, however, do not fit asian noses well. there is a tiny little gap between my asian nose and the foam lining. however, the gap disappeared after a couple times of use... also, it fogged up a bit when it was snowing really bad. no fog was visible the other times i snowboarded in warmer weather tho. so i guess this pair can't really withstand the extreme snow and cold?

  • Name: 2011 Giro G9 Snowboard Helmet Men's
  • Pros:  very light, comfortable, highly adjustable
  • Cons:  difficult to detach parts, bad ear pads wind insulation,

Experience:   It's my 2nd year of snowboarding; I'd fell on my head a few times but was still reluctant to buy a helmet bcos those i'd tried @ sports authority & rei were a bit heavy and uncomfortable. I got my giro g9 from a buddy and realize this thing is amazingly comfortable. it has ventilation all over the top as one can see in the pictures. these vents can also b sealed if the weather is too cold for u. the helmet is highly and easily adjustable. I was able to fit with a thick beanie on, and it can be adjusted to snugly fit even with my beanie off bcos there is a plastic device in the rear that you can easily turn to adjust. however, it is pretty hard to detach the ear pads even though they are detachable. the ear pads have poor insulation against the wind. they probably designed it this way so that you can still hear with the pads on. i fell on my head again in my last ride @ heavenly. the helmet honestly made the impact painless for my head (unlike the other times without helmet on.) I am very thankful to my buddy who got this for me and will be sure to have it on in my future rides...
