- Cons: slightly difficult to get perfect setup, ratchets a little tough to work with,
- Flex: mid
Experience:
I bought these bindings in winter of 2008, and was a little skeptical of whether or not they would hold up on the mountain. Well, they outperformed my expectations greatly! Aside from being very customizable (an adjustable just about everything), they made getting off the lift and back down the hill as fast, and as fun as possible.
Once you make it down a few runs, tweaking your set-up here and there (as your boots settle into your bindings a little more), and you get that perfect set-up, strapping in goes even faster. I can easily strap up in under 10 seconds. Everyone I go boarding with is so amazed at how fast I can strap up, and by the performance of The Fives, that by the next winter they own a pair! You will never have to sit down in the wet snow again. (I even strap in while sliding off the lift which makes it even faster)
Now,the ratchets on the binding are not the easiest to tighten all the way down. They seem VERY tight when trying to get the ratchet down on its last snap. Also, loosening up the binding is rather difficult, with gloves on, it's nearly impossible.
Overall, this binding is well worth the money. It performs well with park riding, cruising, smaller jumps (haven't hit any large ones with them), basically all of the mountain. Don't wait to get a pair, you will not regret it!
