"effective wrist guards" 11/7/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2009 RED Impact Wrist Guard
  • Pros:  kept wrists safe from impact, fit under gloves well,

Experience:   Borrowed a pair of these this year when at the snow as I was still a beginner. They did the job and absorbed the impact effectively on my wrists but by the 3rd days i found i was at a stage where i was not falling on my wrists anymore, so their usefulness diminished and I didn't bother with them after. Also having wrist guards on makes even simple things like picking up your board or gripping onto a rails on the lift or lift queue a pain. They did do a great job on my first 2 days of learning though, especially the first :)
"great lightweight shell type jacket" 11/6/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2010 Element Mckenzie Jacket Men's
  • Pros:  lightweight, water resistant, stylish
  • Fit:  Just right
  • My Size:  S
  • Fits Like:  S
  • Description:  non-baggy

Experience:   Simple but effective shell jacket for everyday use. Won't keep you very warm, but used as a raincoat of sorts or light wind breaker it does the job well. Picked mine up from a surf shop sale here in AUS and find it useful on those gloomy days when you aren't sure if it is going to rain or not. Looks great (mine is chocolate color) and is nicely fitted and not baggy.
"Great affordable helmet" 11/4/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2009 Capix Gambler Snowboard Helmet
  • Pros:  light but sturdy, affordable, earpieces keep your ears warm

Experience:   I own a capix gambler helmet in white and my gf has one in black Good fit, affordable and does the job, no complaints and very happy with the purchase. The vents make sure your head doesn't get too warm but also don't like a complete draft in. The goggle clip at the back could be a little tighter but haven't had my goggles drop off either. Bear in mind though that your goggle straps cover some of the back vents depending on what angle you wear your goggles. But for the price and value, def worth it
"perfect puffer vest" 11/3/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2009 The North Face Nuptse Vest
  • Pros:  warm and comfy puffer, lasting fill, durable material
  • Fit:  Just right
  • My Size:  M
  • Fits Like:  M
  • Description:  comfortable fit

Experience:   Have this North Face vest in Brown and love it. It is quite puffy and has a good filling that still has most of the original shape to date. Outer material is durable and doesn't show any wear. Great to wear during in-between seasons and indoors when you are at the snow in the evenings :) Bought an M as the puffiness + small meant i looked like a snowman
"worthless stomp" 11/1/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2005 Dakine Snowboard Stomp
  • Pros:  looks like it should be good?,
  • Cons:  no grip, no traction, does nothing

Experience:   A lot of people say stomp pads are useless and not needed and that is true. I still like having a basic stomp for safety reasons as it gets quite icy in AUS sometimes. Friend bought this against advice from everyone because he thought it looked alright, but turns out it is worthless, even just standing on flat ground it was useless so ya... don't buy, there are so many better options on this site.
"awesome goggles" 11/1/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2009 Oakley A Frame Snowboard Goggles
  • Pros:  great design, superb fit, great lenses

Experience:   Borrowed a friend's pair for half a day this year and they were awesome. Was tempted to get a pair a few times but only got my Giro Root goggles this year and seems like a waste to get new ones. But after using these I was tempted. - Great lenses (fire iridium) - Fit was perfect for my face (small to medium) - They did not fog even one bit - Comfortable and perfect fit with or without helmet
"good looking bag" 11/1/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2007 Burton B By Burton Rock n Roll Duffle Womens
  • Pros:  looks great, lightweight, functional

Experience:   Got this for my gf for a bag she can use outside of her normal handbags/carry bags. Goes well with jeans it seems and has enough internal pocks to keep things in order. It looks cool and it is really just a duffle style hand bag
"great super warm sweatshirt" 10/31/2010

"good stomp pad for girls" 10/31/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2008 Dakine Petal Mat Stomp
  • Pros:  does the job, looks good (for girls), cheap

Experience:   simple yet effective stomp pad that does what it is supposed to. Looks good on a girl's board (gf uses it on her Palmer Jade Twin and it looks great). Careful of the spikes though they are pretty sharp out of the pack so be careful when you are installing it.
"great basic bag" 10/30/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2010 Burton Space Sack Snowboard Bag
  • Pros:  simple and does the job, good build quality, easy to carry
  • Cons:  no padding,

Experience:   Great simple board bag, bought it for my gf to keep her board when stored at home and also when we travel up to the snow. Keeps the board safe from scratches when in the car and being transported. Enough room inside to fit softgoods as well. Also keeps the car boot dry on the way home :) Believe these is a slightly more expensive version with a pocket if you are looking to store all your stuff in on bag.
"Basic simple boot" 10/30/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2008 Burton Freestyle
  • Pros:  Simple and basic, Cheap,
  • Cons:  No real feel,
  • Fit:  mid
  • Flex:  mid
  • Shoe Size:  8.5
  • Boot Size:  8

Experience:   very first boot i used, was a hire on the mountain and used it with a Burton LTR board. Compared to my Flow One Coilers I am using now they didn't have much feel. Would recommend if you wanted a starting kit for your first year
"great bright t-shirt" 10/30/2010

  • Fit:  Just right

"Super warm and waterproof" 10/29/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2008 The North Face Tritronix Triclimate
  • Pros:  Warm, Versatile, Waterproof
  • Jacket Fit:  Just right
  • My Size:  S
  • Fits Like:  S
  • Description:  slightly baggy because i bought an M

Experience:   Very warm jacket when you zip everything up and keeps you warm in any wind/snow conditions. Had mine for about 2 years now and it has kept me warm and dry many times. I bought an M because i thought i would need to layer and turns out I should have got an S but it isn't too long so it works fine and there are adjusters at the bottom of the jacket so you can tighten it. Also the inside layer can be worn as a normal jacket away from the snow and the outer can be a shell on those wet but warmer spring days.
"valu for money solid glove" 10/29/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2010 Burton Profile
  • Pros:  simple and value for money, waterproof,

Experience:   nice basic glove that does what you expect for the price. Nothing fancy just a solid entry level glove that will keep you warm (may need liners on colder days) and dry.
"awesome shoe" 10/29/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2010 Gravis Indo Shoes
  • Pros:  comfortable fit, looks great, great price

Experience:   Bought these just before the Sierra sale to Trusnow so managed to get them shipped to AUS :) Great shoe, has a stylish look and the materials are quality. Got the Black Snow White one and the color is great, love the orange. When i first wore them they felt a bit hard but they wear in nicely and are comfortable now
"Warm and looks great" 10/27/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2008 Analog Lineation Basic
  • Pros:  warm, looks great,
  • Fit:  Just right
  • My Size:  S
  • Fits Like:  S
  • Description:  Fits nicely but bit long if you are short

Experience:   Went a bit nuts last year and bought up on Analog hoodies before shipping ceased of such products internationally. This like all the analog hoodies I have is super warm and fits nicely for someone with a slim build. Think it would run a bit long if you are shorter than I am (I am 175 cm). Great product as all Analog gear
"2009 version are great" 10/27/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2009 Giro Roots Goggles
  • Pros:  good field of vision (i have a small face), great fit, comfortable

Experience:   Bought these late last season from here and love them. Great fit with my helmet and work fine without a helmet. They are similar in styling to Oakley Crowbars I found but without the price tag (at least from Sierra anyway). Lens could be a bit more reflective and darker but they are just right for all conditions (tried in cloudy conditions the first day and no issues) No complaints, except now i can't justify buying more goggles :)
"comfy solid boots" 8/31/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2010 Vans Hi Standard Womens
  • Pros:  comfortable, solid no frills boot,
  • Fit:  mid
  • Flex:  mid
  • Shoe Size:  7.5
  • Boot Size:  7

Experience:   Gf got these from Sierra with a board and bindings as we are beginners but are sick of renting gear and wanted our own stuff. Boots are no frills simple boots but the quality is great and she hasn't complained. The fit is a little smaller than other boots, about 1/2 a size, so i recommend finding a proper vans chart before you buy this and not going off generic ones. Still fits here fine but would be more comfortable in a size 7 (bought 6.5). No complaints, lacing system works great and simple to use and does the job. Good boot on a budget
"warm/comfortable/quality product" 8/31/2010

  • Fit:  Just right
  • My Size:  M
  • Fits Like:  M
  • Description:  snug fit but good length

Experience:   gf has 2 of these that were both bought from Sierra. Quality of the product is great, she was never cold in them and they kept the moisture off her body which is great. The arms and body were of a good length too, not too short.

"great rental board" 8/30/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2009 Burton LTR-L
  • Skill:  Beginner
  • Pros:  cheap, durable, does the job

Experience:   rented this board twice and found it to be a tad heavy and thick. took a good beating though and looking at most of the rentals out there they generally do. was good to learn on, didn't catch any edges but felt a bit clunky after the 2nd day and i have moved on to an Academy 2010 Collective, but this gave me a good solid start.
"excellent knee pads" 8/29/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2008 Pro-tec IPS Knee Guard
  • Pros:  protects well, comfortable, easy to clean

Experience:   Big fan of soft padding, and never liked having hard plastic bits in my padding. Knee pads are great when you are boarding and these are comfortable to wear all day and don't leave you with bruises you can get from those hard plastic ones when you fall on them
"great warm and waterproof" 8/29/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2010 Burton Profile Gloves Women's
  • Pros:  waterproof, warm, good fit

Experience:   Gf bought these from Sierra this season and has used them a few times in a range of conditions. They are very warm and stay waterproof for most of the day, after a 8 hour day on the slopes they did start to get wet inside, but that was due to water getting in from the top or everytime she took her gloves off and on. Great gloves, and even better for the price
"great simple bag" 8/29/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2009 Burton Space Sack Snowboard Bag
  • Pros:  fits board and bindings easily, good build quality, protects board from scratches
  • Cons:  no padding,

Experience:   not a padded bag so don't expect it to protect your board from impact. However, it is a great simple affordable bag that allows you to carry your board in your car or on the bus without worrying about scratches or superficial damage to your board. Also means you don't get your friends car wet when you put your board back in after a day on the slopes :P

"seems to work fine" 8/19/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2009 Nikwax Tech Wash 300ml
  • Pros:  works as intended, bit expensive,
  • Cons:  don't put normal clothes in lol,

Experience:   works as intended but as per the reviewer above, still think getting your stuff cleaned professionally if you have paid $100s for your gear is worth it. Borrowed this stuff from a friend and used it on my older gear and no loss in waterproofness so far.

Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2007 Burton Cord Leash
  • Pros:  does it's job, durable enough,

Experience:   simple leash that does the job, picked one up from a store in Melbourne, AUS after seeing someone's board go down the mountain and hit someone. Not much to say, except still forget to clip it sometimes and don't realize till i see it moving around :P

Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2009 Burton Cable Lock
  • Pros:  good size, gives piece of mind, easy to use

Experience:   Bought this to secure mine and my gf's board at the snow after reading up how common theft can be and given we both bought new boards this season. Works great, simple to use, compact and seems strong enough and enough of a deterrent. Easy to set combination and durability wise after a few days use seems as was when new

  • Name: 2010 Burton Treble Yell
  • Pros:  good size, light and waterproof,
  • Cons:  not much padding for laptop,

Experience:   Bought this as a filler and was surprised with how useful and good it is. Nice size to put a jumper and quite a few items still including your shoes. Wouldn't put your laptop in it though as there is not much padding around the laptop pocket.

  • Name: 2010 Burton Freestyle
  • Pros:  good flex, good build quality, value

Experience:   great simple but effective bindings. quality was a lot better than i expected for the price but then again given it is a quality Burton product shouldn't have been too surprised. gf is using them on her Palmer board, using a 146 board and have these in S with size 7 women boots. can't go wrong for the price for a Burton product

  • Name: 2006 Dakine Mountain Snowboard Stomp
  • Pros:  excellent hold to board, good grip, easy to install
  • Cons:  sits a bit higher than i thought,

Experience:   Put these on my board purely for a safety measure for when getting off the lift. They give you great traction and stick very well to your board. No complaints really, they just sit a little higher than i realized but wasn't an issue once i was boarding

  • Pant Fit:  Just right
  • My Size:  M
  • Fits Like:  M
  • Description:  perfect fit, not too loose, not too tight

Experience:   Posting on behalf of my gf who bought these pants when I was ordering my board few weeks ago. She used them for a whole Saturday recently and found them to be without fault. Kept her dry and warm and happy the whole day. The fit was great and allowed room for another layer underneath but there was no real baggy feeling. She will be using these for a long time and you won't be disappointed if you purchase these.

  • Cons:  need to wear inner layer, might be too baggy for some,
  • Pant Fit:  Too big
  • My Size:  S
  • Fits Like:  M
  • Description:  Baggy fit but comfy and not too long

Experience:   Nice pants, picked them up for $36 on the staff daily specials and don't regret the purchase. The fleece is in all the right places but still found i needed to wear thermals underneath to stay really warm. No problems with waterproofing though. Fits baggy but the length was good. I am 5 foot 9 and 149 pounds. Good 2nd set of pants or a nice one if you like layering underneath

  • Name: 2010 Flow The Five
  • Pros:  Great look binding, Great feel, Light and responsive
  • Cons:  initially takes while to set up, can be fiddly while you get used to strapping in,
  • Flex:  mid

Experience:   Great binding, everything you could want in a binding, great responsiveness and stiffness but some flex. Very comfortable for me (using Flow One Coilers) and didn't have any problems with the fit. Size 8.5 boots and using Medium size bindings. Took a whole day to get used to and then i had to remove them to re-adjust the strap positions, but is great now :)

  • Cons:  NONE!,
  • Fit:  mid
  • Flex:  mid
  • Shoe Size:  US 9
  • Boot Size:  US 8.5

Experience:   Great boot as stated by many already. True to fit, true to specs and very comfortable boot that you can wear all day. Boa system works nicely and it is easy to take the boots off and put them on. I have Flow Five bindings and combined with these boots I spend minimal time putting my bindings on after getting off the lift :) Boots also grip very nicely when walking around and the flex in them is great for all levels and the responsiveness to the board is superb.
"Great Board, Easy to control" 7/18/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2010 Academy Collective
  • Skill:  Intermediate
  • Pros:  Nice and steady at all speeds, easy to control,
  • Cons:  picks up speed very fast for a beginner,

Experience:   Picked up this board for a very good price on Sierra. I am a beginner and wanted something that wasn't too expensive but would still be good to progress with and able to use in the park or on the mountain. Board delivers what it promises, and it was very easy to control and made my progression a lot faster than on the Burton LTR rentals. Smooth control and didn't catch any edges. Feel that I am in control of the board and there is heaps of speed when I am ready to use it. After riding the board for a day feel a lot more confident and worth the money.
