"Great Board!" 12/12/2010
Helpful Review?   (2) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2011 Burton T7 Snowboard Men's
  • Skill:  Advanced
  • Use:  Carving,High Speeds,Off Trail,Powder
  • Pros:  Great for carving at high speeds!, stiff flex!, looks great!
  • Cons:  pricey,

Experience:   this is a great board, for people who tend to go in the backcountry, and are zooming at top speeds. if your beginner or even intermediate, i don't recommend this board, because it is tougher to turn at slower speeds because of it's stiff flex, but once you start going faster, it becomes easier and easier. great board! it makes miracles possible!

Comments & Questions

TravisM
For less experienced riders what boards would you recommend that are similar to the T7 and that allow for easier turns at slow speeds? If one were to buy this board would you say that the learning curve would be too steep? I've heard nothing but good things about the board but I don't want to purchase something that I'm incapable of handling. Thanks.

u2angel
I have the t7. I do think the learning curve would be a little steep. What kind of riding are you doing? Are you more all mountain, park, or backcountry oriented? If All mountain I suggest a Custom x or Custom flying v. If park I would go with a lib tech skate banana or a burton easy livin. If your looking for a backcountry board I'd suggest a burton malalo or a DC MLF

  • Name: 2011 Anon Realm Emblem Snowboard Goggles - Men's
  • Pros:  Will NEVER fog up!, Very comftorable, Customizable
  • Cons:  Hard to get lenses in when switching,

Experience:   This is one of the best goggles on the market right now IMO. I live in Seattle, and it rains A LOT up on the mountains here. Lift days in the pouring rain get's annoying with fogged up goggles, but not with these. They have literally NEVER fogged up with me. The spherical lens tech really helps with picking out stuff and the different amount of lenses you can pick from let's you customize your vision every day of the year.

  • Name: 2011 Red HI FI 2 Snowboard Helmet - Men's
  • Pros:  lightweight, comfy, warm

Experience:   this helmet is sweet! i just got it the other day from trusnow, so i haven't been able to use it in the snow yet, but from what i've seen and the tests i've done, the helmet is pretty sweet! it is SUPER light. incomparable to any other helmet you've had. it fits perfectly with any goggles. anons, electrics, oakleys, dragons, and von zippers were all tested with this helmet and they were all fitting very well and comfortable, both under and above the helmet! GREAT pick for all you riders out there!
"Splicing!" 11/29/2010
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2011 Oakley Splice Goggles Jet Black/Black Iridium
  • Pros:  very comfy, don't pinch nose, great vision

Experience:   these IMO are the best goggles on the market because there is one different thing on these gloves that no other goggle has. the nose isn't getting pinched at all. there is more of a half circle instead of a v. it helps breathability by a lot. these goggles have great peripheral vision as well. i love their plush foam for your face. this is the choice of legend Terje Haakonsen when he shreds AK and Norway daily

We're about the same size/build with a narrow face... you think these are ok? I keep seeing that they're for medium to large faces. Would appreciate your opinion... thanks!

"Great Starter Boot!" 11/11/2010
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2008 Thirty Two Exus Boa Snowboard Boots - Men's
  • Pros:  Great fit, Stays tight, Good beginner flex
  • Cons:  Soft flex not good at high speeds,
  • Fit:  mid
  • Flex:  soft
  • Shoe Size:  9.5
  • Boot Size:  10

Experience:   If i were to choose any boot to begin with, this is it. The comfort of thirtytwo with the lacing system of boa. The best of both worlds. The soft flex on this makes it easy to ride the groomers or get tweaked in the park. It stays very tight the whole day, and is easy/off. You will be the first ones in the lift in the morning, and not waiting for your friends to lace up their boots. I love this boot, and still occasionally use it for fun. Only one thing is that, I wouldn't use this as a powder or freeride board. It's soft flex makes it hard to control when your flying down the mountain at ballistic speeds. Otherwise, it's wonderful. This boot is a lot of fun and you won't be disappointed.

Experience:   these are very lightweight, all mountain shredders. they are very comfy. the lacing system is super nice, and your boots won't loosen up over time during the day. the lacing system will not break; it's very strong. this boots flex is mid, so it will allow you to rip up anything from park to pow and anything in between! highly recommended!

  • Description:  very nice! not too tight not too baggy

Experience:   these are great pants! they have a 5k/8k waterproof breathable rating. that is pretty good, but wont last you too long in the powder or backcountry. on groomers and lapping the park, it's perfect! it's got a little insulation on the inside of the pant to keep you nice n toasty while throwing down. for the price trusnow is offering them, you gotta pick yourself up a pair!

  • Description:  A little baggy, but not bad

Experience:   this is a nice jacket! i wouldn't wear it on top of anything cuz it's not that warm, but it works really well when it comes to layering as a second layer. it stops wind very well! on those windy days, i highly recommend this jacket in windy conditions! overall, not that bad!

Experience:   gigi ruff is among the best, so he's going to need the best, and this just happens to be it. i would say this jacket and the 3l Burn jacket from burton are the two best snowboard specific jackets on the market IMO right now. they have an AMAZING amount of features. i test rode this jacket along with the 3l burn jacket. i ended up going with the 3l burn jacket, but this jacket was very close! i love this jacket. super waterproof with 3l gore tex, got your recco avalanche detector, and an amazing amount of other features. check the specifications page on this jacket. really can't go wrong with this jacket!! Experience:   this is like a dress-up sweater. it's very expensive however. comparable to top of the line brands in terms of price. but then again, cashmere is always going to expensive. i bought one on super sale and really liked though! it is very very soft, and comfortable, not itchy at all.

  • Name: 2011 Red Redphones Headphones - Men's
  • Pros:  comfy, good sound, zip-in compatible
  • Cons:  sometimes hard to hear, need a red helmet...,

Experience:   these zip right into your red helmet. surprisingly, they are pretty nice! i like them more than just headphones cuz those are uncomfortable. these have pretty good base and make songs pretty good under your helmet. overall, good product!

Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2009
  • Pros:  ok sound,
  • Cons:  not comfy, expensive, not well made

Experience:   these are not recommended. IMO, not many of the on ear headphones have good sound because they aren't near your ear, but these exceeded my standards of a bad pair of headphones.. they broke during my second use, because the speakers blew, just because i had to play my music louder than normal cuz i couldn't hear it. the cushions are heard and not fluffy like they should be. these are very bad. would never recommend them.

Experience:   wow this helmet really has it all! i've taken some pretty big hits with this thing, even hit trees through tree runs and such, and rocks on some uncovered snow during early and late season conditions. it has very good comfort, it forms very nicely to your head. nothing negative about this helmet, cept the price, but its half off on trusnow, so pick one up for this season!

  • Description:  loose fit

Experience:   I love this shirt! It looks really nice and has a simple design. It is very warm under layers but make sure to tuck in if layering cuz its a loose shirt and snow could get in there if you bail. It is very soft as well, and not itchy at all. only problem is that it stretches a lot but will stay stretched out, and also it's material is sort of weak and will rip if stretched too far.

  • Name: 2011 Burton AK Tech Snowboard Gloves - Men's
  • Pros:  warm, durable, leather palm
  • Cons:  snow gets inside fairly easy, not gore tex,, even though its ak,

Experience:   i bought these thinking they had gore-tex, and immediately returned them after finding out they didn't. my friend let me try them and they actually turned out to be very waterproof so i reordered them and and am using them now during the spring. people say you can ride cold days with these but i say no. they dont have any cuffs, so they only go to the edge of your wrists so snow gets in quite easily, therefore making your hands cold. overall, good gloves for those spring pipe days!

  • Description:  A little big

Experience:   this jacket is very warm and comfy on the inside, but there are a few things wrong with it. first of all, it is baggy, so buy a size down. next is that it is tough when layering to use it because you zip the hood off, so it is annoying cuz you have the hood there in your way. and finally, it is burton so you know it will be a bit pricey. good jacket if your not layering and willing to spend the money though!

  • Flex:  stiff

Experience:   magicians like terje haakonsen and frederik kalbermatten shred with these awesome bindings! they are stiff and responsive, but are recommended for the experience rider cuz they aren't very forgiving. they also aren't recommended for freestyle and park cuz their flex is much more stiff. these things really shred hard in the deep pow and backcountry. they are very lightweight and pair perfect with the t7 because of it's stiff flex as well. however, nearly 500 dollars for a bindings is quite expensive.

It is helpful all over the mountain though. Only downside is that it is so small, so you could lose it. Also, if you fell on top of the sharp tip, that could hurt a lot. Otherwise, great tool!

Experience:   So these capstraps are great! To start off, i have to say that if you buy a burton binding, your already on the right track, cuz i think they have some of the best bindings on the market right now. Second, is that if you buy a 2011 model of burton bindings, most of them already feature the burton capstrap. If you for instance have last years cartels (me), then they don't feature these capstraps, then go pick a pair up for yourself. They totally take the pressure point off of your toes when your riding. Experience:   This is a super steezy pant, great for sessions in the park or straight up groomer runs. They keep you warm and keep the snow out.. For a bit. It only has like 5-8k waterproofing, so digging deep in powder will have these pants soaked. • Pros:  Perfect Fit!, Great tightening system, Perfect flex for pow and speed riding
  • Cons:  Boot doesn't have recco like 2010 model,
  • Fit:  mid
  • Flex:  stiff
  • Shoe Size:  9.5
  • Boot Size:  9.5

Experience:   WOW! There is too much to say about this boot. Let's start with the flex of this boot. It perfect for flying down the hill at any speed you'd like. (Preferably breaking the speed limit) Next, is that the boa system locks in two spots. (The front and side) This helps you get a PERFECT and SOUND fit on the boot. It also makes it full customizable. This boot is everything you could possibly want in a boot. This boot and the Burton SLX are the two boots im using. They are IMO, the best boots on the market at the moment. The only disappointing thing about this boot is that this year, they decided to take the Recco Avalanche Detector in the boot. If you have your transceiver, you should be fine though.

My hands stayed warm the whole time. There are basically finger specific slots for each finger to go into, so it's like a glove inside a mitt. The 15oz of duck down is super nice and keeps you very toasty on cold days. The gore-tex will keep your hands from getting wet all day long. IMO, the best mitten on the market
