"Giro G9" 12/20/2010
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2011 Giro G9 Snowboard Helmet Men's
  • Pros:  Light Weight, Adjustability,
  • Cons:  none thus far,

Experience:   I received this helmet as a gift and so far I love it. It is lightweight and comfortable so it feels as though you are not wearing a helmet at all. I find this to be an important aspect as I won't find it a hassle to wear therefore leaving back in my truck. One of the problems I found with other helmets was the sizing. I seem to be in between sizes and find the adjustability on this helmet to be what I need. Wearing a beanie or not, is a non-issue. There is a dial in the back of the helmet that can be adjusted to give you a custom fit for any condition. Can't see myselft riding with out it. Another plus, although not important, the khaki color rocks.
"Seems to be a great for beginners" 3/9/2011

  • Name: 2010 Sierra Crew Snowboard Men's
  • Skill:  Beginner
  • Pros:  Cost, Quality,
  • Cons:  Stiff when new,

Experience:   Anyone reading this review must realize that I am new to the sport, this is my first board that I have owned, and the only board I have ridden other than the first rental a couple years ago. With that said, let's begin. Picked this board up because of the reviews that I have read here on TruSnow and the cost. It seemed that there wasn't much available with at this price point that had such great reviews. I am not sure if it is the board or the progression of my abilities but the first day out, I caught the edges several times. Not sure if it was in need of a detune or that I was not waiting for the board to come around before turning. Went ahead and took a file to the front and back of the board once I got home. Second time out was much better but turning still seemed a little sluggish. After a few more days the board seemed to loosen up and now goes wherever I wish. Again, not positive if this is the board breaking-in or the progression of my abilities. I have a strong opinion that it is related to both. The Sierra Crew is definitely something I want to keep in my quiver and may even pick up another to keep as a back up. Also, look forward to picking up a Sierra Stunt to play in the park with.
"Love these boots" 1/11/2011
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2011 Burton Ruler Snowboard Boots Men's
  • Pros:  Comfort, Laces, Shrinkage Tech
  • Cons:  None thus Far,
  • Fit:  mid
  • Flex:  mid
  • Shoe Size:  10.5
  • Boot Size:  10.5

Experience:   These boots were a part of my 2010-2011 setup. 2010 Sierra Crew and Rome 390 Binders. Loved these boots right out of the box. Great looking with a lot of tech. Some key features are: * speed zone laces - These are super convenient with and upper and lower tightening strap for adjustability * Shrinkage Tech - Boots fit true to size, at least for me, but the profile is a one size down. (10.5 is like a 9.5). Allows for less toe or heel overhang. This is more important the larger the boot. * Imprint Liner - heat moldable liner for exceptional comfort. As long as the shell stands up to it, I can see myself only replancing the liner for the next few seasons. Great boot for a great price. No complaints here.

BTW, from a usage point of view. I was strapped in these boots this past weekend all day long. Zero complaints as they were extremely comfortable with no pressure anywhere on my foot, especially the toes. Feet were warm and dry by the end of the evening. Keep in mind boots will be one of the most, if not, the most important piece of gear you will own.

"Great Bindings" 1/11/2011
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2011 Rome 390 Snowboard Bindings Men's
  • Pros:  Adjustability, Comfort,
  • Cons:  Finish (Paint),
  • Flex:  mid

Experience:   Purchased a set of these binding to go with my 2010 Sierra Crew. I am a beginner and plan on doing mostly all mountain and eventually hitting some small kickers or park features. Right out of the box I knew these were going to be really good. The build quality is excellent. Although unimportant to functionality, the paint leaves a little to be desired, doesn't seem like it will hold up to abuse. There is a ton of adjustability in this binding. Toe Strap, Ankle Strap, High Back (forward lean, rotation), foot bed, etc. I took my time with setting them up and it seemed to go together real easy. I suggest anyone putting them on their board take the time to get it right as it can be daunting if in a rush. As for comfort, these are a huge step-up from a set of rentals I have used in the past. Toe Strap is great and conforms to any boot, Burton Rulers in my case. Ankle strap is super cush. Cranking down on the straps makes me feel one with the board. Difference between these and the Rome 390 Boss are the included degreed cant beds. Personally, I didn't feel the extra $20 was worth it in the end. Anyone looking for a new set of binders should definitely take these into consideration.
"Burton Buffer" 12/23/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2010 Burton Buffer Snowboard Socks
  • Pros:  Warm, Comfortable,
  • Cons:  Nothing, they are socks,
  • Fit:  Just right
  • My Size:  L
  • Fits Like:  L
  • Description:  Just Right

Experience:   These are my first pair of specific purpose socks. Other than dress socks of course. I was under the impression that a sock is a sock and there wasn't much need for a special pair for snowboarding, especially a pair > $10. Boy was I wrong. These socks are awesome. The fit is spectacular and they are really warm. Not too the point that they will become uncomfortably warm after a few hours but just right. The padding in the shin is a welcomed surprise as well, feels really nice in my boot. Although these are my first, they certainly will not be my last pair.
