"gets the job done" 7/16/2011

  • Name: 2011 Dakine Standard Snowboard Leash
  • Pros:  not too long, not too short, durable

Experience:   i got this leash so i could legally ride at crystal mountain in michigan. i am glad i got it even though i didnt think i needed it. i was on the top of a black diomond run and i caught my back edge and my boots actually came out of my bindings. i am very glad i wasnt running all the way down the mountain after my board. i also use this on my wakeboard for a camera i use on it. i have a suction cup mount that you can put on anything flat. i really didnt want to take a chance on losing my camera so i just attatched this leash to it. i have complete trust in this leash and i highly recommend this. i mean its just 5 bucks.

  • Name: 2011 DC Star Zip Hoodie Men's
  • Pros:  warm , soft, color
  • Cons:  none,
  • Fit:  Too big
  • My Size:  L
  • Fits Like:  L
  • Description:  baggy

Experience:   i love this sweatshirt. i wear it by itself for some spring riding and under a shell during the winter. first of all this sweatshirt is sooo soft and comfortable. i wore this almost every day last winter because i love it so much! this jacket is very warm. i used it all the time for shoveling the driveway and things like that. another thing i love about this sweatshirt is the color. i got the orange and it looks so cool. at first i thought this sweatshirt was too big but you dont really want a sweatshirt to be tight or anything. i am glad i got the size that i did and would make the same choice next time.

  • Name: 2011 Sierra Logo Snowboard Bag
  • Pros:  plenty of room, shoulder strap,
  • Cons:  no padding, no wheels,

Experience:   i bought this bag for my trip out to colorado. the first thing i noticed was that there wasnt any padding. this made me a little bit concerned to let the airline handle it. when i picked up my bag i was relieved to see my board and gear perfectly fine. at first i bought this just for my board but you can fit so much else into it. i keep my goggles, gloves, pants, jacket, and you wouldnt believe it but my boots and helmet too. i think this bag is also a great organizer. i just leave all my stuff in it so i dont forget the gloves or the goggles. i know we have all done that before. the shoulder strap is also great for carrying it through the airport even though it doesnt have wheels. this is a must have for anyone that travels with their snowboard and gear that wants it all to stay protected.

This bad is not ideal for Air Travel. It is more a bag for the car or truck too and from the mountain.

"better than flows" 6/24/2011

  • Name: 2011 K2 Cinch CTC Snowboard Bindings Men's
  • Pros:  fast, durable,
  • Cons:  little bit heavy,
  • Flex:  mid

Experience:   i tried these bindings a day after i tried some flow trilogies. it wasnt even a comparison. the k2s were much easier to get into and they were a LOT easier to adjust when you were on the hill. these are more of all mountain bindings though because they are more stiff. that being said they are not great for the park. now that i have tried these i will never look at flows again.

  • Name: 2011 Forum Youngblood Double Dog Snowboard Men's
  • Skill:  Intermediate
  • Use:  Butters,Jibs,Jumps,Switch Riding
  • Pros:  holds edge great, very poppy, great for the park

Experience:   this is the perfect board! it is stiff enough for jumps but is still soft enough for jibs and butters. the double dog profile holds an edge great on the hardpack. would definately recomend this to a park guy that rides the rest of the mountain too.

  • Name: 2011 Ride Deuce Snowboard Boots
  • Pros:  comfortable, lacing system, light
  • Cons:  a little tough to get on,
  • Fit:  mid
  • Flex:  mid
  • Shoe Size:  9
  • Boot Size:  10

Experience:   i just got these boots and i am in love with them! first of all, the internal lacing system is awesome. instead of just the front of the tounge inside the boot getting tighter, the area around your ankle gets tighter too, which helps prevent heel lift and makes the boots just feel so much more secure. these are very comfortable too. they have a really soft almost furry cloth where your calves are in the boot. these are also really light. it was like no comparison between these boots and my old k2's of how light these are. these have a flex that i would consider mid to mid-stiff. but i just got them so they will probably get softer as i use them. the only thing i didnt like about these boots was that they were a little tough to get on, but this will probably not be an issue as i break them in and get used to them. oh and it seems like these run smaller. i got a size 10 and i think they fit like a size 9. these are great boots and i highly recommend them.

  • Name: 2011 Burton Awol Snowboard Boots Men's
  • Pros:  versatile, colors, snug
  • Cons:  a bit tight until you break it in,
  • Fit:  mid
  • Flex:  mid
  • Shoe Size:  9
  • Boot Size:  9.5

Experience:   these are the second pair of boots that i have owned and i love them. they are very versatile. they are soft enough to shred the park and are still stiff and responsive enough to ride the rest of the mountain. when i first got them they were just a little bit difficult to get into, but now they are broken in which took just a couple days of riding and that problem is gone. these boots are very snug in a good way. your foot will not slide around in these at all even if you get a 1/2 size bigger than your normal shoe size. thats what i did so i could wear a couple pairs of socks with them. i also love how light these boots are! its more like im wearing shoes than snowboard boots. and who wouldnt like the colors? would definately recommend these boots.

  • Name: 2010 Burton Buffer Snowboard Socks
  • Pros:  stay up, warm,
  • Cons:  $20,
  • Fit:  Just right
  • My Size:  L
  • Fits Like:  L
  • Description:  snug

Experience:   i got these socks for christmas last year and they are awesome. i wear them almost everywhere! around the house, to the store, and believe it or not, in a couple baseball games. well i use them the most for snowboarding though. a lot of socks that i had before these would slip down constantly while i was riding and i would keep having to pull them up. i went out about 10 times last year and they did not fall down once. these also keep your feet warm without having such thick fabric, which was a pleasant surprise. i was riding in northern michigan and its not like it was spring riding either, and my feet stayed nice and warm. the only bad thing about these was that they were $20 which is a little bit expensive for a pair of socks, so i am very glad that i got these for christmas.

  • Name: 2010 Volcom Dingo 2 Mod Boardshorts Electric Blue Men's
  • Pros:  soft , comfortable, graphic
  • Cons:  little bit pricy,
  • Fit:  Just right
  • My Size:  M
  • Fits Like:  M
  • Description:  perfect

Experience:   first of all i got the electric blues and they look absolutely amazing! i looked at them on here and thought they looked pretty cool but when i got them i was stunned of how much better they look in person. i wear these boardshorts almost everywhere. to amusement parks, to the gym, or just hanging out because they are so comfortable. personally i think they are more comfortable than basketball shorts. they are made of a really silky-like fabric that feels really good on your legs. the zipper pocket is also very nice for anything that you dont want to lose. the only bad thing about these is the price but they were worth every penny.

  • Name: 2010 O'Neill Hyperfreak Boardshorts Men's
  • Pros:  comfortable, zip pocket, color
  • Cons:  cost,
  • Fit:  Just right
  • My Size:  M
  • Fits Like:  M
  • Description:  snug but very comfortable

Experience:   these are the boardshorts i wear whenever i go wakeboarding. these are very comfortable. the fabric is really thin but very soft, they are almost a silky like texture. i also like the zip pocket. some boardshorts dont have them. i really like it for carrying your cell phone, keys, etc. when you are on your way to the boat, leaving the boat, or just around the house. with the zip pocket i dont have to worry about things falling out like i do with the cheap velcrow pockets. another thing that makes these shorts amazing is the color. the designers at o'neal really know what they are doing. i feel like a beast when i wear these. the only bad thing about these is the cost. they are a bit expensive which made me a little hesitant to buy them but i am sooooo glad that i did.

  • Name: 2011 Capita Stairmaster Snowboard Men's
  • Skill:  Intermediate
  • Use:  Groomed,High Speeds,Park,Ungroomed
  • Pros:  edge hold, flex, versatility
  • Cons:  none,

Experience:   this board slays the whole mountain. i normally use it in the park but i have taken it on the rest of the mountain too. it does great on the groomers and i even took it on a few moguls once. it is very responsive and stable. i control the board, the board doesnt control me. i can bomb hills and trust this board to be completely stable. i think the flex on this board is perfect. it is soft enough to jib and butter and is still stiff enough to take off the kickers. i have also never had a problem with edge hold with this board, even here on the east coast. i would recommend this board for sure.

  • Pros:  versatility, stability, light
  • Cons:  wont hold on ice,

Experience:   i love this board. it is sooo versatile. i took this board in the pow, in the park, on the groomers, just about anywhere you can think of on the mountain, this board can do it. it just gets a little bit sketchy on the ice patches at times, but nothing too bad. this board is very stable. i can bomb runs and not have to worry about catching an edge or falling down. it is also incredibly light. this makes for great spins. i think this board was a little pricy but was worth every penny. i would definately recommend this board.

  • Name: 2009 Lamar Mission Snowboard
  • Skill:  Beginner
  • Use:  Low Speeds
  • Pros:  cheap,
  • Cons:  choppy, unstable, flimsy

Experience:   i have this board and i am not proud of it. this is the worst board i have ever owned. i rode it for half a day then rented a board for the rest of the day. this board is extremely choppy on ice, groomers, or on perfectly fine snow at higher speeds. this board is very unstable too. i was scared to go faster than 20 mph. when i went fast it was like i couldnt turn smoothly and it was like i was fighting the board. you catch your edge very easily when the board is flat too. it would start kind of waving back and forth on the snow. if i were to do it again i wouldnt even think about buying this board again. use your $300 on a better board.

what binders/boots were you using? It may not be a good board but that kind of information would be helpful as that generally makes a difference for riders . . . . -b

  • Name: 2011 Dakine Torque Driver Snowboard Tool
  • Pros:  small, easy to use, saves you butt
  • Cons:  rust,

Experience:   i think this is the tool every snowboarder should have. a few times my bindings have loosened up and if i didnt have this i would have to go all the way back to the lodge to find a screwdriver. this is the perfect size. it fits in your pocket very easily and you cant even tell its there. the only negative thing to this is that the screw bits have rusted up a little bit, but nothing to effect the performance very much. i think this is a must for every snowboarder to have.

  • Pros:  nice flex, comfortable, look amazing
  • Fit:  stiff
  • Flex:  mid
  • Shoe Size:  9
  • Boot Size:  10

Experience:   these boots are awesome for whatever you are going to do. i initially bought these to specifically ride park, but these are my go to boots for anything now. i love the flex of these. they are soft enough for the park but stiff enough to ride the rest of the mountain. these are also very comfortable. sometimes when i would come up short on a jump and land flat, my feet would ache for a long time. not anymore though, these boots absorb the shock of landing flat. these just look plainly amazing too. i got the black aegean and i love the blue stripe on the bottom. i would highly recommend these boots.

  • Name: 2011 Flow The Five Snowboard Bindings Men's
  • Pros:  fast , durable, responsive but not too responsive
  • Flex:  mid

Experience:   these are fantastic bindings. it is incredibly easy to get into these bindings compared to the clickers. me and some of my friends went boarding one weekend and they all had the clickers and i had these. i was probably halfway down the run by the time they were ready. the next weekend all my friends had flows, no joke. these have a great response, they are stiff enough for all mountain shredding, but they are soft enough to take in the park. these are also extremely durable. i have used these for this whole season (which was for about maybe 20-25 days) and they still rode the last day like they rode the first day. there are no signs of wear on them whatsoever. all in all a great binding that i would recommend to anyone!

  • Name: 2008 Union KFC Snowboard Bindings Men's
  • Pros:  very responsive, durable,
  • Flex:  stiff

Experience:   these are the best bindings that i have ever owned. these are fantastic for those black dimond and glade runs that you must have responsive bindings. these bindings have held up great over the two full seasons that i have had them. the release on the straps is still very clean and never gets stuck. the teeth on the straps have just worn down a little bit but you just cant stop that. like i said before these are very durable and i plan on using them for a couple more years at least. they still ride like new! i would recommend these bindings for an all mountain rider that doesnt do very much park. i think they are just a little bit too stiff to ride the park.

  • Name: 2011 Stepchild Salary Man Reverse Camber Snowboard Men's
  • Skill:  Intermediate
  • Pros:  light , poppy, playful
  • Cons:  the top chipps easily,

Experience:   this is a very good board. it is very light and poppy which makes for great jumps. i landed my first 720 with this board probably thanks to its weight and pop. this board is decent with jibs too but not so good for buttering. its just a little bit too stiff to butter without a lot of effort. this board is great on the rest of the mountain too. it can hold an edge very well and also has that playful feel that most rocker boards have when you want it. the only thing that i didnt like about this board was that the top base chipped fairly easily. i wasnt running into trees or anything, but it might have happened on the rails i really dont know. but this is a great board all around and i would definately recommend it.

  • Pros:  edge hold , flex, versatility
  • Cons:  graphic, price,

Experience:   this is hands down THE best board i have ever owned or rode. this board is soooo versatile! the edge hold on this thing is amazing. i ride on the icy east coast so i should know. it can jib, jump, butter, do the groomers, and even some powder. just basically anything that you can think of to do on a snowboard this thing will get the job done. the only downside of this board is the price and i dont know what the guys at lib-tech were thinking when they put that graphic on the top of the board, but it just goes to show that you dont buy a board based on the way it looks, you buy a board on how it rides and this board rides great. i love this board and would recommend this to someone that just does everything on the mountain.

  • Name: 2011 K2 Raygun Snowboard Men's
  • Skill:  Intermediate
  • Use:  Groomed,Park
  • Pros:  smooth, easy turns, good for the park

Experience:   this is by far the most versatile board i have ever owned. it is extremely smooth on those icy days and holds an edge great. this board is very responsive and railing turns were a breeze. i actually did some moguls for the first time with this board and not that i can say they were fun, the responsiveness of this board helped me turn back and forth very quickly and easily. this board is also great for the park. jibbing was a blast with this board. it is soft enough that you can lock into presses and butters, but it is stiff enough to take it off jumps too. this year has been a great expierience thanks to this board and i look forward to next year. i would recommend this board to an all mountain guy that literally does everything.

  • Cons:  none,

Experience:   i bought this board for the park but that is not all it can do. this board's flex is great for jibbing and pretty good for butters too. this board is not a noodle though, you can still take it off small to medium sized kickers. i was also very impressed of how well this board did on the rest of the mountain. i ride east coast so sometimes it gets icy but this board had a great edge hold when you needed it, that playful feel that rocker boards have in the park, and the forgiveness to take it off jumps. all around this is a great board. i would definately recommend this to anybody that rides a lot of park and the rest of the mountain too.

  • Name: 2011 Flow Flite 1
  • Pros:  none,
  • Cons:  not durable, hard to adjust, not comfortable
  • Flex:  mid

Experience:   i bought these bindings with high hopes but i soon realized that these are just about the worst bindings i have ever owned. these are extremely hard to adjust right out of the box and even harder on the mountain. after about 10 minutes of adjusting the bindings i finally got my boots in. so at this point i thought my problems were over but they had just begun. i finally started going down the run and whenever i turned toeside there was a pain in my foot right under the heel strap of flows binding system. so on my next run the binding for my back boot just simply broke. the latch that you pull up to secure your boot in the binding came undone and the cheap plastic just snapped when i tried to turn heelside sharply. all in all i will never buy or use flow bindings ever again.
