"Good all around boots" 11/12/2012
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2013 Burton Emerald Snowboard Boots
  • Pros:  Comfortable, Easy to Lace,
  • Cons:  Occasionally difficult to unhook ,
  • Fit:  mid
  • Flex:  mid
  • Shoe Size:  8
  • Boot Size:  8

Experience:   I have had these for a little while and they are working great thus far. Getting into them is easy enough all you have to do is the standard center tighten on the inner boot, tighten one side at a time and presto you are good to go. These boots feature a lower and upper pull straps so that you can independently tighten each area. This is the best feature of the boots in my opinion. I have had a pair of old-fashioned laced boots which were a huge pain to deal with. I upgraded (or so I thought) to a boa laced system. The problem is that if you have small calves, high arches etc. the boa does NOT cinch to your feet in a way that actually will give you appropriate tightness in all areas, leaving you sliding around or loosing sensation. Finally I made the switch to the Burton Emerald and presto! My problems were solved, it allows for full adjustability in both areas. No more numb toes. Out on the snow the Emeralds are very responsive both when hitting the park and when carving down the mountain. I have had no problems taking it off of jumps or when roaring through some early season groomers. The only issue for me with these boots was that the insole was for a much more flat footed person. For me it just didn't work and I had to switch it out. Before you decide that a boot isn't for you, make sure you have a nice insole otherwise you'll just decide based on that rather than the other awesome features of the boot.

You know these are heat moldable boots right? wouldnt that be able to help you with the insole shape?

"Great Socks for Snowboarding" 1/9/2013
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2013 Smartwool Phd Snowboard Light Socks
  • Pros:  Stay warm and dry all day,
  • Fit:  Just right
  • My Size:  S
  • Fits Like:  S
  • Description:  Snug all the way

Experience:   These socks are awesome. Some of Smartwool's other socks give me trouble after snowboarding for a full day, mostly because the designs on them create ridges that put extra pressure on your leg. This pair is great because it has minimal designs and doesn't leave me with imprints on my shins. Stays warm all day and I have never had any wet-sock problems that occasionally happen with other brands.
"Good boots for Narrow Feet" 1/9/2013
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2009 Lange Exclusive 60 Ski Boots
  • Pros:  Comfortable, Easy to adjust flex,

Experience:   I bought this boot for the odd day that I would ski over snowboarding because it is a really good deal, and works well for people with narrower feet. In other boots I was sliding around a lot, and really didn't have the kind of power transfer you want with boots. These are a nice pair for the person looking for comfort over performance however because they don't allow for a very high/stiff flex setting (which I don't mind).
"Gets the Job done" 11/18/2012

  • Name: 2012 Dakine Key Lock
  • Pros:  Small/light,
  • Cons:  Hard to pull out the cord,

Experience:   This lock fulfills its purpose, it locks your board/skis to the rack. The first time I took it out, it worked great and made me feel better about leaving my new board out while I took a lunch break. The second time I took it out, however, it was a lot colder and I could barely pull the cord out to wrap around my binding. This is the only drawback I have found for this lock, and otherwise it it great.
"Handy for Adjustments" 11/18/2012

  • Name: 2013 Dakine Edge Tuner Tool
  • Pros:  Small, Easy to Use,

Experience:   It might not be as fancy as some other edge tuners, but it gets the job done. If you are anticipating any need for on mountain adjustments, it is small enough that you can just toss it in your pocket or backpack. It has worked well for me so far, haven't had any problems and for this price you can't really go wrong. Also, really great to be able to avoid paying shop prices for something that is easy to learn to do.

  • Name: 2012 Dakine Torque Driver Blue
  • Pros:  Easy to exchange Heads, Fits in your pocket,

Experience:   This little tool is perfect for throwing in your pocket for some on mountain adjustments. Small enough too that you won't notice it like some of the larger tools you could get for this same purpose. It is easy to exchange the heads for use with different types of screws if that floats your boat. Also, saves you from having to trek out to a shop or find a ski patroller with a screwdriver to adjust or tighten your bindings.

  • Name: 2013 Rome Whiteroom Splitboard Snowboard
  • Skill:  Advanced
  • Use:  Carving,Powder
  • Pros:  Easy on assents, Great float in powder,
  • Cons:  A bit of chatter when it is icy ,

Experience:   So I picked up last years model of the Rome Whiteroom last year for a few earned turns. The graphics on all of these boards are really great, and if you are a lady there is a women's specific version out there as well (but really the men's works just as good). It handles itself just like any other splitboard on the assent and on the way down it can take the heat. The key with the Whiteroom is practicing the exchanges on the board before going up and having all of your friends wait for you to get your board back together ;) . All in all this board has a lot of pop and is really fun to ride.
"Powderhound" 11/12/2012

  • Name: 2013 Jones Hovercraft Snowboard Men's
  • Skill:  Intermediate
  • Use:  Powder
  • Pros:  Amazing float in powder,

Experience:   To start, if you love powder this is the board for you. The stance is pretty far back which is great for keeping you on the top of the snow, no matter how deep it gets, with limited difficulty (worst feeling ever is getting stuck in some powder and having to boot it out). The Jones Hovercraft is in its element just about anywhere however. The Hovercraft is great in the trees, off piste, in mountains of powder or even on groomers. Can't recommend this board enough, really is a masterpiece on the mountain.
