"My favorite pair of pants!" 3/23/2010
Helpful Review?   (3) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2010 686 Smarty Original Cargo Snowboard Pants Women's
  • Pros:  very waterproof, lots of pockets, boa compatible
  • Pant Fit:  Just right
  • My Size:  S
  • Fits Like:  S
  • Description:  i wear thick buttpads so i got a small. fit perfectly!

Experience:   i love these pants. i would get a pair in every color! i wore these last weekend in slush and it kept me very dry. i usually dont carry things in my pockets because i'm afraid i would bruise myself or break whatever's in my pocket when i fall. i was able to carry things in the pocket by the sides of my legs. it didnt interfere with me riding at all. i had problems with snow getting into the lower back part of the pants but these come with an elastic where you can tighten it. theres also a little pouch where i could carry the key to my board lock. that was unexpected and useful! i am a size 2 in jeans and i usually wear xs in board pants but because i wear triple8 bumsaver buttpads (theyre REALLY thick), i ordered a small. i was afraid it would run small and not fit but it was snug! just what i wanted! the liner is VERY warm! i love the fact that i dont have to carry an extra pair of pants with me at the end of the day. i can just take off the shell and walk around in the liner like its a pair of sweat pants. theres nothing bad i can really say about these pants. theyre my favorite!

Experience:   i got this board last week and i finally got to ride it during the weekend! my board before this was the burton feather so i had a little hard time adjusting to how responsive it was. its a really good board!

  • Name: 2009 Burton Mighty Womens
  • Pros:  thinly insulated,
  • Cons:  none,
  • Pant Fit:  Just right
  • My Size:  XS
  • Fits Like:  XS
  • Description:  perfect

Experience:   i love these pants! theyre thinly insulated which is perfect for snowstorms/extremely cold weathers and water has never gotten inside. i wish i had gotten a small instead of xsmall because i do wear butt pads (triple8) and it doesnt fit in the xsmall. the length is just right for me (5'4 tall). my previous pair of pants (from foursquare) had the problem on the back of the pants. whenever i sit down, there would be a large gap from my waist and the waistband. these mighty pants does not have that! it fits snuggly around my waist. everytime i buy a pair of pants, i made sure it did just that.
"Not bad for a basic pair ot bindings" 12/2/2010

  • Name: 2010 Burton Citizen Snowboard Bindings Women's
  • Pros:  comfortable, affordable, no pressure points
  • Cons:  a bit heavy,
  • Flex:  mid

Experience:   i have to say, for a pair of lower end of the brand/basic bindings, these performed pretty good. they are super comfortable and no pressure points at all. its not super responsive since its mid-flex but it does get the job done. i only recommend these bindings with the burton feather (or any other beginner level boards) though. i paired these up with my capita smf and the combo just felt weird.

  • Name: 2011 Dakine Stubby Driver Snowboard Tool
  • Pros:  compact, great built,

Experience:   i have this tool and the dakine mega blaster. the built on this one is so much better! i leave the standard philips head out while on the mtns and it doesnt fall out, not even in my bag! on the other hand, all the screw drivers on the mega blaster falls out of its compartment when turning. with this tool, i never had to wait on line till other people finishes using the tools from the mtns.

  • Name: 2009 Dakine Heli Youth
  • Pros:  low profile, lightweight, durable
  • Cons:  doesnt hold much items,

Experience:   love this bag! my previous dakine bag was too bulky and didnt have a compartment for a hydration bladder. this bag has a compartment that lets the tube run through the sleeve of the bag keeping it unfrozen. i didnt know that till i got the bag and it was pretty cool. my friend's dakine didnt have that and his tube kept on freezing. this bag won't carry much but thats what i wanted. i'm 5'4, about 110 pounds, and i wear xsmall and small. i was afraid this bag was gonna be too small for me since its for kids but the size was just right for me. dakine makes very durable bags and this one did not let me down!
"Good mittens" 4/1/2010
Helpful Review?   (2) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2010 Burton Profile Mittens - Women's
  • Pros:  liner not detachable, warm,
  • Cons:  liner not detachable lol,

Experience:   burton makes really good mittens. the first thing i noticed when i got them in the mail from sierra was that the liner wasnt detachable. its a good and bad thing for me. I had the burton approach mittens before this and putting it on was sometimes a hassle because it had detachable liners and i wear wrist guards but other times when you need to get something out of your pockets, you can just take off the shell and leave the liner on. overall, these mittens are really warm. i wouldnt recommend it for spring riding though. it'll be to warm for it.

  • Cons:  a little short, not enough pockets,
  • Jacket Fit:  Too small
  • My Size:  XS
  • Fits Like:  XXS
  • Description:  runs a little small. get a size bigger!

Experience:   i bought this in xs at first because thats what i normally wear. i had to exchange it for a small because the sleeves and the jacket itself was a little short for me. the small fit me perfectly! i wore this jacket at vermont this weekend and was boarding in a snow blizzard. all i wore was an under armour cold gear shirt and it kept me VERY warm and dry! cant go wrong with this jacket especially since its on sale!!

  • Name: 2010 Oakley Stockholm Goggles Women's
  • Pros:  great view, comfortable, great shape
  • Cons:  didn't fit on my helmet,

Experience:   i got this as a gift last Christmas and i instantly fell in love with it! these were my first pair of spherical lens goggles and i couldn't believe how great the view was! when i went home, i quickly ran to my helmet to put it on. i was so upset when i found out it didn't fit because of the hook on the helmet. the buckle on the goggles were not able to go into the hook on the helmet. i exchanged it for a pair of crowbars which wasn't bad either but i liked the stockholms because it was meant for girls.

  • Name: 2009 Burton Casa Snowboard Boots Women's
  • Pros:  affordable, warm,
  • Cons:  heel hold, soles,
  • Fit:  mid
  • Flex:  mid
  • Shoe Size:  7
  • Boot Size:  at least 6.5

Experience:   i bought these last year with no knowledge of how boots should fit. the guy who fitted me at the shop did a half a$$ job too. now that i've done my research, i've found that everything about these boots were not good for me. after 2 trips, i noticed how much my heel lifts up. at least a full inch! no matter how tight i tied or even replacing it with superfeet, my heel still comes up. these boots do come with j-bars but that did almost nothing. Since i've broken into them already, it has packed out a lot! i shouldve gotten a size 6 or even 6.5 wouldve been a lot better. these boots did get me through 1 entire season though (snowboarding and playing in snowstorms uses) and it kept me quite warm. i've recently bought a pair of $250 Salomon f20s in 6.5 and the fit was much snugger and more comfortable than this. if i had done my research, i could've saved a hundred bucks.
"Does the job" 11/29/2010
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (1) No

  • Name: 2011 Red Base Layer First Layer Shorts Women's
  • Pros:  does the job,
  • Cons:  paddings could be thicker, a bit pricey,

Experience:   Personally, these aren't my favorite pair of butt pads. The paddings on the tailbone could be a tad thicker and the paddings on the hips could be a bit softer. I have another pair of butt pads called the triple8 bumsaver. Super thick paddings and NOT bulky at all with board pants over them (not to mention, the tripe8's were cheaper). For those who really want a more thinner looking (which means less protection) pair of pads and has the money to spend, go for these. If not, there are plenty of other brands out there that has a little bit better paddings and cheaper.

  • Name: 2008 Dakine Mega Blaster Snowboard Tool
  • Pros:  lots of different sizes, good grip,
  • Cons:  compartments that holds the screws are too loose, screws fall out all the time,

Experience:   i've read a lot of good reviews on this and thought i should give it a try since i didnt like the grip of my dakine tool. i do like the grip on this but i hate how the screws always fall out when i'm using it. i also bought this because it has 10 different screws but in reality, i only use 1 or 2 of them for snowboarding. for me, this is a good tool to keep in the car or around the house, but not snowboarding.

  • Name: 2010 Burton Approach Mittens - Women's
  • Pros:  very warm!, waterproof, 2 layered (fleece and softshell)

Experience:   i ruined last year's version one day when i threw it in my bag while it was still wet. the fuzzy part of it started to deteriorate. thank god for sierra's awesome sale! i picked up a pair of approach and profile mittens. i didnt like how the profile's liner is attached to the shell. i ride during the spring so i usually ride without the fleece layer. the approach keeps my hand super warm on very cold days! i've never needed to use hand warmers.

Is there a snowboarding mitten that has a removable inner layer that you have used and would recommend. I need new mittens and I have been using a mitten with a removable inner layer that was made by a canandian co. years ago.

  • Name: 2010 Burton Dream Womens
  • Pros:  thin, warm, lots of pockets
  • Cons:  hood does not zip,
  • Jacket Fit:  Just right
  • My Size:  XS
  • Fits Like:  XS
  • Description:  perfect for me

Experience:   i made the mistake back then for getting a heavily insulated jacket because i'm the type of person that gets cold easily but i found out it was TOO warm for snowboarding. this jacket is perfect for me. i wear this, a loose under armour hoodie and a baselayer and i'm good to go. i wear an XS and even with a loose hoodie underneath, i still had room to move. my friend had the small and i tried it on. the sleeves on the small was way too long and it was just too big for me. i got the true black with the pinstripes and i love it! it goes well with all my crazy colored pants. i really dont have anything bad to say. the hood does not zip off but that really doesnt bother me since i never take off any of my hoods on my other jacket. i actually like the fact that it doesnt zip off.

  • Cons:  sound quality can be better,

Experience:   I got these for free from TruSnow. They're not the nicest pair of headphones but they are great while snowboarding. My Skullcandy Inkd headphones sound quality is a little better than these. I still fall so when these get dragged in the snow, I won't hate myself for it.

  • Name: 2011 Celtek Cannon Facemask Men's
  • Pros:  breathable, reversible,
  • Cons:  not for cold temps, velcro bothers my neck sometimes,

Experience:   i only recommend this face mask for 30degree or above temperature. the nose/mouth area consist of two pieces of mesh only. although its very breathable, it did not keep me warm. another thing that bothered me was the velcro. it always pokes my neck and it irritates me. it also ruined the neck part of my under armour smock tops since it sticks to it. i would recommend the Celtek Scribble face mask for colder temps since it has a fleece layer inside and a mesh layer on the outside to make still it breathable. the scribble face mask fits over your head so you dont have to deal with velcros. if your head is too big, becareful though because it might not fit over your head. it is a little tight for me and i wear a size small r.e.d. reya helmet.

  • Name: 2007 Dakine Replacement Snowboard Files
  • Pros:  not expensive,

Experience:   i actually dont use this to sharpen my board edge. i use this more for taking off any rust and sharpening my wax scraper. it doesnt sharpen the plastic scraper as well as the metal edge but its still able to sharpen it well. the one time i used it to sharpen my edge, it worked like a charm! i only had to run it through the edge twice and it got pretty sharp!

  • Name: 2009 Dakine Low Roller Snowboard Bag
  • Pros:  roomy, has wheels ,
  • Cons:  very long, heavy, bulky, hard to store when not in use

Experience:   i've spent so much money on buying bags online thinking it was fully padded but it wasn't. my boyfriend finally bought me this for my birthday and i absolutely love it! the padding is really thick and i was able to fit all my gears in it (board, boots, bindings, helmet, jackets, pants, hydration backpack). i have a 147 board and the bag was 157 so i had plenty of room. when i'm not using it, its hard to store thought because its so bulky. when i was using it, i found it a little awkward at first rolling it around because i wasnt use to it but i quickly realized how convenient it was since its so heavy because of all the stuff i put in it. this is one of my favorite board bags to take out (i got 4 lol) for traveling!!

  • Name: 2010 Ride Bandita Contraband Snowboard Bindings Women's
  • Pros:  easy in, great performance, no pressure points
  • Cons:  takes some effort to get out of them,
  • Flex:  mid

Experience:   i didn't think these bindings were going to be great so i never considered them because i knew how bad the flow bindings were. last weekend i got to try my friend's set up (gnu b-street with ride contraband). i was surprised! these bindings performed really well! they were really responsive and had no pressure points at all. it was easy to get in but the straps were hard to unstrap. i'm definitely considering these if fi ever need new bindings!

  • Pros:  VERY light!,
  • Cons:  too responsive,

Experience:   i borrowed my friend's b-street (paired with ride contraband bindings) last weekend. i normally ride a capita SMF. right away when i strapped in, i noticed how light it was! definitely made jumping a lot easier. compared to my SMF, the b-street was also noticeably more grabby which i expected due to the magnetraction. some people like it, some hate it. i havent decided if i like it yet. the flex on both boards were similar to me. one thing i didnt like about this board was that it was slightly too responsive for my taste. the SMF was a lot more easier to control. overall, this is a good board which i might buy in the future.

Experience:   omg.. this bag is HUGE!! i was able to fit a pair of 6.5 pair of boots, a helmet, pair of goggles, face masks, and 2 pair of gloves and a pair of glove liner (in the smaller part of the bag). i didnt think i needed a bag last year because i always carried my boots in the box i bought it in but this year, i decided to buy this because i didnt want to dirty the box of my new pair of boots that i recently bought. i went snowboarding locally this weekend and all i had to take to the car was my snowboard, my hydration pack, and this dakine bag. very convenient and kept the car clean from snow at the end of the day!

  • Name: 2010 Burton Infidel
  • Pros:  playful, comfortable,
  • Flex:  soft

Experience:   when my boyfriend first start boarding, he had the burton bullet with a pair of burton freestyle bindings. then last year, he had a HUGE upgrade. he paired these infidels (one live) with a lib tech banana. he loves this setup and he quickly improved his snowboarding skills within a short period of time. within 2-3 trips, he started doing basic tricks. these bindings were comfortable for him and super playful. not to mention, the color matched his board perfectly (i have a pic on my photo gallery)!! he says he won't be getting a new setup anytime soon because he is having way too much fun with this one.

  • Pros:  responsive,
  • Cons:  pricey,

Experience:   i'm 5'4 and weighs around 110lbs. i got this board in 144 and paired it with 2009 escapades. before i got the board, i rode the burton feather. what a difference! it was so much more responsive and playful too! i was able to press with it a little. i wish i had gotten the 149 instead since this would be the board for me to carve with. i wore some pretty cheap and wrongly fitted boots (with inches of heel lift!) with the setup but it still performed well. other than the retail price, i can not find anything bad about this board!

  • Name: 2010 Salomon Kiana Snowboard Boots Women's
  • Pros:  comfortable, great heel lock, keeps feet warm
  • Cons:  lacing system is slow,
  • Fit:  mid
  • Flex:  mid
  • Shoe Size:  7
  • Boot Size:  6

Experience:   I wear these boots in 6 size while my normal street shoes are a size 7. They were pretty snug (borderline uncomfortable) at first but they are now perfect after breaking them in (not loose, not too tight). Although I went 1 size down from my street shoes, it may not be the case for you so make sure you get fitted at a board shop before buying these! The only bad thing I can think of about these boots are the lacing system. Lacing the liner is annoying so I completely gave up on trying to tighten it. The main lacing takes a while to complete but it does a really good job keeping the tightness for most of the day. Prior to these pair of boots I own, I had the Burton Casa and these Salomons fit so much better for my feet. Super comfortable and warm. The performance is really awesome too. I just started out with park and I mostly board on groomed snow (from the East coast) and these boots are good for any conditions! I think its worth every penny!

  • Pros:  cheap, quality is decent,
  • Cons:  wires inside breaks off easily,

Experience:   i get these headphones from my school and i use them for boarding. i love the headphones that comes with ipods so i keep those for non-snowboarding uses because i dont want to lose them or ruin them in the snow. the sound quality on these are pretty good compared to the gummy headphones. the base is so much better and the earpieces fit my ears well so they stay in while i board. my school just stopped supplying me with these but i'll still buy them once all of mine blows out (which doesnt happen often).

Experience:   I got this board towards the end of last season but I was able to take it up to the mountains twice before the season completely ended. I instantly fell in love with it! My 2 previous boards were the burton feather and burton feelgood (not the rockered one). I love my feelgood but oh my, the Capita is SOO much fun! I started riding park and this board made it so easy to go on ramps! I had no problems on groomed snow either. The only odd (not completely negative) thing about this board is that it chatters at high speeds but it does NOT affect performance. I think most rocker boards do though. This board is definitely the board i'm going to be riding throughout most of this upcoming season!

  • Name: 2011 Burton Tri Scraper Snowboard Tool
  • Pros:  scraps off a lot of wax easily,
  • Cons:  a little to big for me,

Experience:   this scrapper is really good for the price! it scrapes off excess wax very easily. what i love most about this is that there's a little corner that's meant to scrape off the wax on the metal edges!! my only problem with this is that its too big for my hands (since i'm a girl).

  • Name: 2010 Oakley Crowbar
  • Pros:  good vision, comfortable,
  • Cons:  fogs up once in awhile, strap could be longer for helmet,

Experience:   i traded my Stockholms for these crowbars because they didnt have a buckle in the middle of the strap like the stockholms do (couldnt snap into the clip in my helmet). the crowbars snapped into my r.e.d. reya helmet but i wish the straps were longer because i maxed it out and its still a bit tight. regardless, its still very comfortable. mine fogs up only when i'm wearing my under armour gaitor. if its not tucked into the goggles, the fog isnt that bad at all. i love these goggles too much for me to trade them in. i have blue iridium lens with these and they are AWESOME!! the sun didnt bother me at all and i was able to see perfectly at night! the problems i listed above wasnt that big of a deal to me. overall, these are really good goggles!

just wanted to add this: last weekend, i was using the Seirius face gaitor instead of the under armour and these goggles didnt fog up once! the gaitor was tucked into the goggles too.

  • Name: 2011 Superfeet Footbeds F
  • Pros:  comfortable, solved heel lift (only a little),
  • Cons:  numbed my toes,

Experience:   i've read many mixed reviews about how superfeet can and cannot eliminate heel lift. i took my boots to paragon just to try it out for the heck of it and i instantly fell in love! it felt awesome! i didnt care if it can eliminate heel lift or not anymore. my boots felt so much for comfortable! the day after i got my superfeet, i went snowboarding to test it out. it didnt completely eliminate heel lift but it took up some of the room. this green one is thicker than the blue superfeet. the only problem i did have with these is that it kept numbing my toes.
